As they arrived at Luke's village, the invigorating chilly air stroked Erin's cheek. She smells the fresh air of this province, and Luke explains to her that this is his province and that there is a house on the side of the lake where his Grandma's childhood home is located.
"Thank you, Luke, I'll be here for a week or so... I just want to get away from everything..."
Looking at this old small village, she sighed and brushed her palms together. This town appears to be calm and can provide her with peace of mind, so she was grateful that Luke became her friend and brought her here.
"Anytime, Erin... I'm just here for you… you are always welcome here in my heart." Luke said with a smile on his face and glanced at Erin as they walked.
"Did you grow up here, um yeah? This site looks eerily familiar as if it could be any other childhood memory." Erin said.
But, despite her comfort, she remembers the people who are suddenly concerned about her right now and she doesn't like giving them some problems because of her temper toward Nathan... she thought of a way to call her mother when she can settle in the house where she is staying this night, as though she regretted leaving without even saying goodbye, especially to her mother who is now worried about her of where she is.
"So here in this village… I grew up with my grandma because daddy and mommy were so busy on a business trip back then…" Luke said as he pointed his finger at the Parkside.
"And there I met Nathan, he was my childhood friend... he's a brave and wise man... but now, I just ignored him you know why, he's so overprotective of you and so possessive towards you, that he looks at me as his own enemy."
Erin sighed and lowered her head, she felt embarrassed by Luke because it felt like she was the cause for Luke and Nathan's current feud and she couldn't stand it and Luke noticed her awkward face.
"Hey, what I'm saying is that you're not to blame, right? You can't control Nathan's thoughts, and we have tremendous battles that you should be unaware of..." Luke said to make her feel better and not blame herself for everything.
As they walked a kilometer to the lake, they were walking because the car was not permitted to be inside the lake due to the narrow route, so they parked the car far away from House Lake.
"Are we close to your grandmother's lake house?" she questioned Luke after giving him a thumbs up and stuffing her hands in her front pockets. She peered up at the sky because it was getting dark.
"Here we are, there oh. do you see that house?"Luke grinned as he glanced at her and pointed to the beautiful mansion with the lake in the background, which was lush and full of flowers.
"Wow, this place is stunning..." Erin said and her eyes were roaming the House then her eyes spotted an old lady waiting for them and waving her hand at the gate entrance of the house.
"Is that your grandmother?" she asked Luke with a shy voice and gave him a half-smile.
"Yes, The one and only," Luke said as he waved back to his grandmother.
"Erin let us go, we need to be walking fast because I think it is going to Rain, grandma is waiting at the gate with an umbrella..." Luke suggests and grabs her hand to run.
Erin isn't sure whether she's doing things correctly, but she's glad to meet Luke's sweet grandmother; it's almost as if she told him something she didn't understand and then abruptly stopped when Luke observed his grandmother. "What are you saying to Erin, Grandma?"
"Luke, I know you can take care of this girl…" The old lady clicks her tongue and glances at Erin.
"Don't worry, Grandma... I'm not going to bite her..." Luke responded with a witty remark and Erin let out a soft chuckle.
The old lady simply shook her head and grasped Erin's arm, whispering "be careful with him...you need to be careful..." in her ear.
Erin abruptly stopped smiling and gaped her lips, puzzled by what Luke's grandmother was saying to her and her eyebrows were frowning; she sensed something was wrong but she chose to dismiss her instincts and just smile again at the old lady and say.
"Don't worry, I am safe with your grandson...he is the best man I can trust and he is a good man, so don't worry okay? Everything is fine…"
Erin saw a change in Luke's expression as he frowned at his grandmother, and as their gazes met, he smiled and added, "my grandmother is only extremely old, she has dementia and certain ailments, that's why she is very worried about you... she treats you now as her own granddaughter, she's just so sweet and like to take care of another people..." Luke explained to her and sighed.
"Grandma, do you agree? You need to sleep right now... well, I'll call your nurse to take care of you…"Luke said and his grandma just nodded her head and smiled.
Erin just shrugged her shoulders, pondering what the old lady advised her to do. Is there anything she needs to do? Is it necessary for her to protect herself from Luke?
