Chapter 124 Like a Zombie
"Argh..." Victor was pissed off, "Stop quibbling. What else could you participate in the show for?"
Ebony laughed out. "What's your problem? Who do you think you are? Do I have to evade you all the time? Is your coffin so valuable?"
"You... You..." Victor lost his tongue.
Just then, a staff member came over.
He called out in a trembling voice, "Mr... Mr. Torres... Miss Gibson..."
Ebony looked at the staff member.
Indifferently, she said, "Don't mention my name with that of a dog in the same breath. It's disgusting, and I'm afraid of getting bitten and having rabies."
The staff member was struck dumb.
Ebony looked at Victor again, saying, "It's a long day, and I'm exhausted. A piece of advice, do not talk through your hat. If you want to fart, do it in the bathroom."
With that, she turned around and went off.
Victor's face was contorted!
The filming continued the next day.
The sessions today were song selection and grouping.
Ebony continued to play her role as eye candy and a foil to the show.
When the filming was over, it was still early.
The director came and told the celebrities about the process.
Basically, the four instructors could leave and would come back for the first live show in one week.
The three referees would stay.
The referees were closer to the trainees after all.
Compared with those lofty instructors, they were more approachable characters.
Those referees who stayed were supposed to visit the dance studio every day and check on the trainees.
Ebony went on the rounds with the chief dance teacher and the chief music teacher.
They went to the first studio.
It was the practice room for Lorena and others.
The appearance of Ebony made Lorena change color.
But she soon restrained her emotions.
She continued to dance.
To Ebony's ears, her dance was a total disaster. It was like she was run over by a car and could not crawl out.
She couldn't help but laugh.
The chief dance teacher asked, "Miss Gibson, I heard that you're a dancer. Why don't you teach them a thing or two?"
She shook her head and rejected, "I'd rather not. They don't deserve my instructions."
The dance teacher was speechless.
They didn't stay in the practice room for long.
They headed to the second studio.
There she met
In the second classroom, Ebony met Stella.
Stella was not the center of this group.
The group was made up of five B-grade trainees.
Four of them were from the same company, and only Stella hadn't been employed.
She was totally marginalized.
In the far corner, she danced the best.
Ebony's eyes never left her.
After the dance, the other four girls came up, smiled at Ebony, and asked, "Miss Gibson, what do you think of our dance?"
Ebony remembered the program team's advice on encouraging the trainees.
So, she replied, "Your dance is better than toad bouncing. It's terrible but not disastrous."
The four girls were stunned.
And so were the chief dance teacher and the chief music teacher.
The four girls were not convinced.
One of them snorted and said, "We've been practicing for only one day."
Ebony glanced at her and reasoned, "This dance is simple, and one day is long enough. Your performance is poor, but others did good jobs."
Aggrieved, the girl covered her mouth and started to cry.
The other three girls rushed over to hug and comfort her.
Then they cried together with her.
They even deliberately cried in front of the camera.
They got scolded for dancing poorly.
They were the underdogs who deserved people's sympathy.
Ebony stood there, flummoxed.
She asked the chief dance teacher curiously, "Does it start? I heard that for talent shows, it's crying rather than dancing that matters. However, their crying isn't beautiful? Their tears aren't falling. Should I buy some eye drops for them?"
The chief dance teacher and the chief music teacher didn't know what to say.
They made a lot of effort to advise her.
Ebony finally agreed to leave with them.
Before leaving, she took another glance at the girl in the corner.
Stella happened to be looking at her.
The short-haired girl had shiny eyes, and her cheeks were rosy.
Ebony was intrigued.
This girl looked cool. Surprisingly, she was very shy.
A week passed quickly.
Ebony went on the rounds every day.
She had got an answer to which ones of them were bound to be eliminated.
Those skilled and diligent trainees.
In Lorena's group, Lorena was the center. The other four girls were all A-grade.
It was a shame that their skills were nothing in front of the capital. They had to do foil for a turd.
Stella was the only notable member of her group.
As for the rest, there were both good and bad groups.
There were both phony and hardworking girls.
On the day of the public performance, 500 people came to the venue.
The four instructors were back.
The stage was beautifully set.
Ebony sat in the chief referee's position.
The two referees on her side asked, "Who do you think will be eliminated, Miss Gibson?"
20 people would be eliminated today. 15 people would be recruited by the referees and grouped into three teams.
Ebony looked at files about the 20 or so dance groups.
She casually pointed to a few names and replied, "Them. Their performances were flawed even during practice."
The two referees nodded and said, "These two are not good at singing and tend to be off-key. Their chances are slim."
It was a live show and open mic rather than lip-synching and post-recording today.
It greatly increased the difficulty of public performance.
The performance started with hot dance music and cheerful ones.
Some trainees were sexy while others were cute.
When it came to Lorena's team, she performed better than practice, but still, it was terrible.
Her teammates were skilled in both singing and dancing.
The four A-grade trainees did foil for her, but in fact, it only made her look like a hopping zombie.
Then again, despite her poor performance, she received positive comments.
Every one of the four instructors gave her A-grade.
After the instructors finished their comments, the host followed the custom and led the topic to the referees.
He asked with a smile, "Distinguished referees, is there anyone in this group you want to recruit?"
The microphone was passed to Ebony first.
Ebony looked at the five people on the stage, thought for a moment, and said, "The four supporting dances sang and danced well. I don't think they'll be eliminated. As for the main dancer, I hope she won't be eliminated because I want to watch more spectacles from her."
The host was dumbfounded.
And so were the others.
"Wow!" There was an uproar in the audience.
