Chapter 116 I Want To Eat As Much As I Want
Ebony was stunned.
She just looked at Lloyd quietly.
After for a while, she blinked her eyes and asked, "Why do you not want me to go back? Don't tell me you want to..."
A smile flashed in Lloyd's eyes.
Ebony continued, "Don't tell me you want to watch it through the night."
Lloyd instantly became speechless.
Ebony suddenly bumped on Vasquez's shoulder mischievously, saying, "Mr. Vasquez, you want to, right? I'll accommodate you. Let's watch it together!"
Lloyd was still helplessly in silent.
Ebony went to pick up the laptop on the coffee table in high spirits.
As soon as the computer was brought over, it was taken by Lloyd.
Lloyd rubbed his eyebrows, and said in a deep voice, "You should go back to sleep."
Ebony was annoyed, "What's wrong? Didn't we agree to watch it?"
Lloyd raised his eyes and gave her a warning look.
Ebony was scared.
She muttered, "You want me to leave so that you can watch it alone?"
She made Lloyd speechless again.
In the end, Lloyd finally managed to send her away.
The next day.
When Ebony arrived at the filming crew, she found out a new screenwriter had joined them.
Before everyone went to work, director Knapp said that he would hold a short meeting to introduce a new screenwriter to everyone.
When Ebony went to the lounge, she heard a strange woman's clear voice coming from inside, "Cut Elsie's play in half and increase Tulip's play by two thirds. We also need to alter the plot structure, because there are too many similar elements between "Pledge" and "Missing Rome".
Ebony knew that "Missing Rome" was a very famous mystery novel.
After the release of "Pledge", some media indeed said that the connotation was very similar to "Missing Rome".
But Ebony didn't understand why they were going to cut Elsie's play and increase Tulip's?"
Ebony knocked on the door.
There was a pause in their voices inside the room, and then director Knapp said, "Come in."
Ebony opened the door and walked in.
As soon as she entered, she saw director Knapp, the screenwriter, and a beautiful woman talking about something.
The woman was in her thirties, with long hair, and she was elegant.
Director Knapp asked, "Where's Lloyd?"
Ebony took the script, walked to the folding chair and sat down.
She replied, "In the bathroom. He will come later."
Director Knapp didn't say anything. He introduced to the woman, saying, "This is Ebony, who plays Tulip."
Then he said to Ebony, "This is Evian, who is a writer, has joined us to be a co-writer and art director of the crew."
Ebony thought to herself, "Evian? The author of "Missing Rome"? And Evian is actually a woman, really?"
Ebony was a little surprised, but she didn't show it.
She nodded politely to her, saying, "Nice to meet you, madam."
The woman released the script in her hand and stood up.
She smiled at Ebony and shook hands with her. She said, "My real name is Lydia Quay, so you can just call me Lydia."
Ebony was stunned for a moment. She didn't expect that she would be so kind.
She shook hands with her, saying, "OK, Lydia."
Lydia's hand was very soft, but when Ebony tried to take her hand back, she found her hand was held tightly by Lydia.
She was a little puzzled.
When she looked up, she found that Lydia was looking at her with burning eyes.
Ebony tried again.
Lydia seemed to have reacted just now, and she retracted her hand embarrassingly. She explained, "Sorry, I was just surprised. I didn't expect director Knapp would find such a good actress. Your temperament is very similar to Tulip's."
Director Knapp was not as kind as Lydia.
He immediately sneered, "She has similar temperament with Tulip? Come on! Frankly, I was tricked by her. She was nothing like who she really is during the audition!"
Ebony had gotten used to be sneered by director Knapp, so she just smacked her lips without saying anything.
However, Lydia was a little unhappy.
She sat down, glanced at director Knapp, and said, "I think she is very good. When I was reading the script last night, the Tulip that appeared in my mind was just like Miss Gibson. You should be confident about your actors."
Director Knapp was stunned. He didn't expect Lydia would quarrel with him because of Ebony.
After a while, Lloyd came, and the meeting officially started.
When talking about the script, Lydia continued talking about the issue of the plot proportion between the leading actress and the supporting actress.
Director Knapp was reluctant to make major changes.
He said, "If so, Tulip would be the heroine."
Ebony raised her eyes while hearing his words.
Lydia leaned against the back of the armchair, listening.
She should be the kind of person used to being a superior.
She said in a tough tone, "What's the big deal? It's the final effect that matters the most, so as long as the effect is good, why would we care about other trivial matters?
Director Knapp frowned, "That's nonsense"
Lydia threw the script on the coffee table and said straight-forwardly, "I didn't expect that a director with such status as director Knapp would still be a slave of capitalism."
"Mrs. Quay, filming a movie is different from writing a novel!" Director Knapp was angry.
The atmosphere suddenly crackled with tension in the room.
Ebony looked at Lloyd cautiously.
Lloyd noticed her gaze. He shook his head, indicating she didn't need to worry.
The original screenwriter came out trying to smooth things out. He said, "Actually, you can give it a try."
Director Knapp immediately looked at the screenwriter.
The screenwriter continued,"In fact, Lydia came to me last night. We talked about the script for a long time. She is a novel writer, so I still need to be involved in revising the script. After she told me what she wanted, I wrote a sketchy revision. You can take a look."
The screenwriter handed over his script, which was densely dotted with characters.
The screenwriter was afraid director Knapp would not be able to read it clearly, so he explained all the details to him.
After ten minutes, director Knapp looked serious, silently staring at the script.
And then in a while, he took out a cigarette from his pocket and lit it.
After finishing the cigarette, he pressed the cigarette butt to the ashtray and said, "Write a full revision first."
The director agreed.
After director Knapp finished speaking, he put down the script and turned to look at Ebony. He said, "From now on, you have to work harder. It is not necessarily a good thing for you to be promoted to a leading actress. You and Lloyd need to get the feeling right as soon as possible."
Ebony was still a little stunned. She blinked, pointed to the tip of her nose and asked, "Am I really the heroine now?"
Director Knapp frowned.
He said to Lloyd, "You'd better guide her well, or else there will be consequences."
Ebony hurriedly said, "Wait! I will have a pay raise, right? And will the perks be better if I am the leading actress?"
Leading actresses could indeed enjoy some special treatment.
Dione asked for a separate changing room, a separate make-up room, and a car that was always at her disposal. She even had more assistants than others.
Director Knapp glanced at Ebony, saying, "As for the salary, your company will be notified about the details. And what kind of special treatment do you want?"
Ebony immediately answered, "I want to eat as much as I want in the cafeteria, and I can freely choose the dishes that have lots of meat!"
Director Knapp was speechless, and he helplessly agreed to her request.
After the meeting, director Knapp pulled Lloyd aside to have a word.
Ebony was calculating by hands on how much her pay raise will be.
Lydia's attitude had become milder than just now.
She smiled and asked tenderly, "Miss Gibson, can I take a picture with you? My husband likes you very much."
