Chapter 55 A Humiliated Look on Her Face
Dolores frowned at her, "You know these as well?"
Ebony waved and said humbly, "A little, just a little bit."
If she did not have computer skills, she could not have dug out the unpublicized dark secrets of Bulllife Media and given them to Rita Obrien.
Dolores looked appraisingly at Ebony and said finally, "I don't care how did you log in there, but I warn you not to log in again in the future. Your Twitter account will be managed professionally in the future."
Ebony blinked and looked at her, "Managed?"
The word "managed" had subtle meanings.
Ebony was confused, "What does that mean?"
Dolores said annoyingly, "It means that resources will be given to you in the future."
Dolores put it in a very indirect way. She did not want to tell Ebony directly that her knife skill video had become popular and attracted the attention of the company's top management, and that the comments about her on the internet had improved a lot now and the top management had decided in a meeting to focus on training her and treating her as a key artist of the company next year.
Dolores stole a furtive look at Ebony's expression after she finished her sentence.
She saw that Ebony was looking at her in horror with a humiliated look on her face.
Dolores was a little uneasy and she asked, "What's with that look on your face?"
Ebony looked down, put her hand over her mouth and said embarrassedly, "Dolores, just tell me frankly, does someone from the top of the company want me on the casting couch? The entertainment industry is so filthy."
"Nonsense!" Dolores was so angry that she nearly drove out of the interchange, "What do you think I am? A procuress?"
Ebony looked blinkingly at Dolores.
Dolores was so angry that her stomach hurt. Nevertheless, she told Ebony with a sullen face that she had gained popularity.
After listening to her, the corners of Ebony's mouth lifted up, up, and up...
Dolores was speechless. She knew Ebony should not be praised; she got puffed up too easily!
Dolores roared, "Stop laughing!"
"Hahahahahaha!" Ebony could not stop laughing.
Dolores got sullener. Her phone rang at this moment. She put on her Bluetooth earbuds and said fiercely, "Hello!"
A minute later, Dolores hung up and her expression looked extremely bad.
She was not in a mood to bicker with Ebony, so she said, "I'll drop you somewhere so you can get a cab to go back to the studio zone."
Ebony knew from her expression that something was wrong, and she asked, "What's the matter?"
Dolores said, "Alfredo is in trouble. I have to go."
Alfredo Stokes?
Dolores thought of the young man who also hated Victor Torres just as she did, and said, "Isn't he planning to take part in some talent show and is recently in training in the company?"
Dolores said, "The show had already begun and he had gone for the recording yesterday."
Ebony raised her brows, "The recording didn't go smoothly?"
Dolores shook her head, "One hundred participants had to record their solo performance in three days. His solo performance was a duet dance. Something happened to his dance partner, who was admitted to the hospital, so his performance had to be cancelled."
Ebony was taken aback.
Dolores found a place to pull over. She pulled over and said, "I'll drop you here."
Ebony did not move, and just said, "I'll go with you."
Dolores looked at her.
Ebony said, "Let's go. Director Bass suited the schedule to my time and didn't schedule my scenes today."
Since she said so, Dolores restarted the car without delay and drove in the direction of Sluvale's TV.
They arrived at the TV station and explained the situation to the receptionist, who made a phone call, and Alfredo Stokes was soon there.
Alfredo was dressed in his stage outfit in a punk style. He was a little surprised to see Ebony but did not care to say hello, and he said to Dolores, "Dolores, what should I do now? It'll be my turn soon."
Dolores said reassuringly, "I've asked Kelly for help. She'll be here soon."
Alfredo looked uneasy, "Can Kelly do it? She's a ballet dancer. She's never practiced this street dance."
Dolores said, "I've asked the teacher to send her the video of you practicing with Gloria so that she can watch it in the car. Anything is better than cancelling the performance."
Alfredo wiped his face. He looked very anxious.
Dolores walked over and patted Alfredo on the shoulder, "Gloria's got acute appendicitis and she almost passed out from the pain. She couldn't come. Don't blame her."
Alfredo shook his head with a wry smile, "How could I blame her? I just thought that it might be God's will. In fact, I'm not good at singing and dancing. I failed in dancing when I was in school. I only passed acting."
Dolores looked at him and said with a frown, "You don't have to be good in singing or dancing to take part in a singing and dancing show. What you need is exposure."
Alfred knew this too.
He took a breath, and only remembered to greet Ebony when he looked up and saw her, "Hi, sis."
Ebony was initially relieved when she knew that someone would replace Gloria as Alfredo's dance partner, but the way Alfredo greeted her made her feel pity for him.
She asked after thinking for a moment, "Do you have the dance video with you?"
Alfredo was taken aback and said without realizing it, "Yes..."
"Let me see it."
Alfredo was dumbfounded.
Dolores looked shocked too, "You can dance? Street dance?"
"A little bit," Ebony did not explain further. She moved her hand and urged, "The video."
Alfredo took out his phone and showed her the video.
The dance lasted for five minutes. Alfredo did not have good dancing skills but Gloria did, so the teacher who choreographed the performance designed very few moves for Alfredo, and Gloria was mainly complementing Alfredo.
After watching the video for two times, Ebony looked up and asked Alfredo, "Is there any time for us to practice?"
Alfredo looked at the clock on the wall and said, "My turn comes in about half an hour. There should be time, but can you really do it?"
"I don't know, we'll just have to try," said Ebony. "Lead the way."
Alfredo looked at Dolores.
Dolores did not know what to do now either. She looked thoughtfully at Ebony for a moment, scratched her head, gritted her teeth and said finally, "Go on. If it doesn't work, then Kelly will go."
Alfredo led Ebony to the dance studio at once.
Twenty minutes later, Kelly arrived panting and breathless.
Dolores saw her and immediately called Alfredo. She had to call for several times before he finally picked up.
Alfredo said with obvious excitement in his voice, "Dolores, Ebony really can do it! I'll hang up, It's our turn soon!"
Dolores looked at her phone, thought for a while, took Kelly's hand and went to the television studio with her.
As soon as they arrived at the studio of the show, they saw the host introduced through his microphone, "The next performer is Alfredo Stokes from Whitemarsh Media. Alfredo Stokes, twenty years old, will bring us the dance "Song of Leblurg" with his dance partner, Eb..."
The host was obviously stuck when he came to this part.
He goggled at the line card for a long time before continued hesitantly, "Eb...Ebony Gibson. Let's welcome them."
