Chapter 40 Won't Coddle You Because You Are A Retard
At night, in the hotel room.
Carlton held the script that he didn't bother to understand, boringly listening to Moses affectionately reading the lines.
Although Moses was very intent, Carlton was so sleepy that he could barely open his eyes.
"Carlton, it's your turn!"
"Ah, where?" Carlton squinted at the script book, finally found his lines, and then read word by word, "Brother, look at the Jiangnan camellias. What is the difference between Jiangnan camellias and our Onioridge camellias?"
"The tone doesn't feel right." Moses frowned and said, "You need to put more emotion. Can't you see the sentence is marked with 'naive' ahead? It means the whole sentence should be read in a naive tone."
Carlton threw the script directly into Moses' arms and said, "I quit."
"Brother!"
"Whatever you call me. I am not going to practice the lines with you. Go look for someone else."
If only I could find someone else, I wouldn't trouble you. We will shoot the scene tomorrow. If I can't practice well today, tomorrow I will drag everyone down. I feel like people have already disliked me for this."
"That's because I upset Miss Gibson." Moses glanced at his brother, "Also, don't tell me the fact she was angry had nothing to do with you!"
Carlton sat up from the bed and said, "Didn't you say that if you rent a changing room, she would have no excuse for pestering Lloyd?"
"But she was angry."
"So what? Do I have to coax her? Who does she think who she is?"
Moses threw the script back into Carlton's arms and said, "I didn't let you Coax her, but if she doesn't help me, you'll have to accompany me to practice."
Carlton was speechless.
Of course, Carlton couldn't let his younger brother pester him all the time, so the next day, he went to Ebony.
Carlton thought she was easy to handle considering she was just an ordinary actress. She was beautiful, but she wasn't that stunning.
He went there in the morning, and then he saw Ebony eating breakfast from a distance.
The hotel's breakfast is a buffet. Ebony took some food and seated herself.
A person suddenly sat down opposite.
Ebony didn't care at first, but as she looked up, her face became stiff. She said, "I don't share the table with you, go away."
Carlton, who sat opposite, was stunned. It took him a while to figure out what she was saying, "Excuse me?"
Ebony frowned and continued, "You heard me."
Carlton couldn't believe how a starlet could speak to an investor in such way. He said angrily, "Miss Gibson really has a bad temper, huh?"
Ebony didn't bother to argue with him, so she got up and went to another table with her plate.
But right after sitting down, the investor followed again.
Ebony leaned on the back of the chair and looked blankly at the stubborn young man across from her, "You must enjoy cold shoulders from others."
Carlton sneered, "Well, you must enjoy offending people you are not supposed to."
"I am not supposed to?" Ebony grabbed a bun, took a bite, spit it out, and said, "Yes, I am not supposed to offend you. See? The bun goes sour when it meets you. You are just too lethal to offend."
Carlton's face turned sullen. He said, "Miss Gibson, has anyone said your words are mean?"
Ebony retorted, "Mr. Smith, has anyone said you look hideous?"
"Ebony Gibson!"
"Oh, do we know each other well? Why do you call me by my name? My name is noble. A snob like you would disgrace it. Can't you be a little self-aware?"
"You!" Carlton stood up with rage. Suddenly, the loud noise caused all other guests who were having breakfast to look over.
Ebony looked up at Carlton, her tone full of impatience, "I don't care what you and Moses are planning on, but I warn you, don't cross me, or else I will beat you. I won't coddle you just because you are a retard.
"Oh great!" Carlton kicked the chair away and left.
The people around were still looking.
Ebony pointed to her head and said to the people, "Sorry, there is something wrong with his brain. The doctor said it wasn't curable. Sorry to disturb you guys."
People then turned away and stopped gossiping.
The shooting of today was also not smooth, and it was still because of Moses.
Moses's face was as gloomy as could be. He prepared so well yesterday, but because Ebony deliberately targeted at him, no matter how hard he did, he still made mistakes.
He didn't remember how many times he had to reshoot. The staff and assistant girls who used to like him, had stopped talking to him at all.
Moses sighed and said to Carlton, "We have to do something!"
"I have an idea." Carlton said gloomily, "We need to teach her a lesson."
That night, Ebony received Dolores's call.
"Change heroines?" Ebony just came out of the shower and was wiping her hair. She put the phone on speaker, threw it on the bed, and asked calmly, "Is it from director Bass?"
Dolores said unpleasantly, "It's not from him. It was the investor's decision conveyed by your assistant director. According to the investor, you didn't share positive vibes and bullied other actors in the crew. But he also added if you could correct your attitude, you could still be the heroine. So let me ask you this, what did you do exactly?"
"Nothing." Ebony said lazily.
"Nothing?" Dolores didn't believe her and continued, "Then why did he come to me? I don't care what you did. Now, go and apologize to the investor immediately."
"Apologize?" Ebony frowned and glanced at the clock on the wall again. "It's twelve o'clock now."
"If it's not convenient for you to go alone, then have someone accompany you. Anyway, you have to settle this matter for me today. I'm telling you Ebony, if you are rejected, you'll be benched forever!"
Ebony suddenly let out laughter and answered, "It looks like I have no choice."
Dolores said, "No, you don't. Now go and apologize!"
After hanging up the phone, Ebony put a towel around her neck, rubbing her wet hair, wearing slippers and pajamas, and walked out of the room.
Ebony knocked on the Moses' door, which was just next door to her room.
Moses was still reciting his lines crazily. When he saw it was Ebony, he was stunned for a moment and said, "Miss Gibson?"
"Which room is Carlton's?" Ebony came straight to the point.
Moses was amazed, "Ah?"
"I said which room was his!"
"Down... downstairs 0309. Miss Gibson, what's going on?"
Ebony Gibson said, "Lead the way."
"Now?" Moses was surprised.
Ebony replied impatiently, "Yes or no?"
"Oh, all right!" Moses led Ebony to Carlton's doorway, and knocked on the door.
Someone soon opened the door.
Carlton was in home clothes and looked at them outside the door. He didn't seem to be surprised. He just laughed, proudly leaning on the door frame, and asked Ebony, "It's so late. Is there's anything I can do for you, Miss Gibson?"
Ebony looked at him coldly, "Did I not remind you not to play tricks with me?"
"Ahh, you are still so bad-tempered!" Carlton sneered, "It seems that you really want to be replaced..."
"Bang!"
With a sudden loud noise, the air seemed to freeze at that moment.
Moses's body became stiff, and his pupils shrank as he watched Ebony put a fist on the door frame beside Carlton's face, where a concave fist mark appeared.
Moses swallowed his saliva, feeling as if he was dreaming.
Carlton was also startled, the words he didn't finish stuck in his throat, and he stared at the pit beside his face. A cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
"Do you know why I didn't hit you in the face?" Ebony leaned closer looking at Carlton's eyes and asked.
Carlton's lips were pale and dry. He slightly shook his head.
Ebony pursed her lips and said, "You and Moses seem to be peers. Moses' uncle is Lloyd, and Lloyd and I belong to the same generation, so strictly speaking, I am your senior. It would be bullying a junior if I hit you at the first punch.
Right after she finished speaking, she hit him in the stomach.
Carlton was caught off guard, and immediately uttered "uh" in pain.
"Carlton!" Moses hurried up to support him.
Ebony withdrew her hand, shook it a bit, and said slowly, "I had to trouble myself to teach you two brats a lesson for your parents, letting you know how to respect people, and how to behave yourselves! So Mr. Smith, was my apology sincere enough? Do you still want to change heroines?"
