Chapter 89 The Price for a Tent Is Only Fifteen Thousand Dollars
Scorching heat caused the acute shortage of water.
Warren Robinson, a recruit, and Jeremy Lautner, a star guest, of the second team, had been in the shortage of water for more than fifteen hours.
"Are you okay?" Jeremy took out the last piece of hardtack in his backpack with difficulty and handed it to Warren, saying, "Here you are."
Warren supported himself to stand steady with a sturdy tree trunk, looked at the piece of biscuit, and said hoarsely, "You eat it."
Jeremy said, "It's for you. You haven't eaten for a long time."
Warren didn't reply to him.
Jeremy began to reproach himself, "Sorry, it's all because of me. If you didn't save me, you wouldn't have hurt your leg. How is your leg now?"
Warren shook his head and said, "It's okay, I participated in a survival camp before. This injury is not enough to make me retire."
Then they lapsed into a brief silence.
After a while, Jeremy divided the remaining biscuit into two halves and said, "Let's go halves in the biscuit."
Then they ate up their own halves.
Jeremy felt a trace of bitterness.
A cookie had to be divided into two pieces!
And the taste of the biscuit dissipated even within three seconds in the mouth.
A gloomy atmosphere cropped up between them.
At this moment, Warren suddenly raised his head, stared at somewhere in the canopy above, and said, "Is there something hanging there?"
Jeremy took a look at it and replied, "It seems to be a green ribbon? I can't see it clearly."
"That's it. Ribbon!" Warren said, and began to judge the distance of the canopy from them. Then he shook his head and concluded, "No, it's too high."
This tree was almost as high as a five-story building, and the ribbon was tied to the top of it.
Normally, no one was able to climb up without protective measures. And in the event of an accident, they would die if they fell.
Jeremy said regretfully, "That's already the second clue we have to abandon. The blue ribbon was tied to a crocodile's head. It's so perverted..."
"Crocodile? What kind of crocodile? Where did you see it?"
An abrupt voice sounded from behind, making Warren and Jeremy startled.
The two quickly looked back.
Under a big tree not far away from them was a slim and pretty woman dressed in camouflage. She was sitting on the trunk of the big tree, swinging her legs and looking at them.
Jeremy recognized the woman and blurted out, "Ebony?"
Ebony tilted her head, stared at the handsome man for a while and then said, "I know you."
On the first day of the show, Ebony was the first to get dressed and go out, and the other two male guests came out after her.
The three of them, as the first batch, were sent into the forest.
The man in front of her was one of the two male guests at that time.
"Why are you here alone?" Jeremy asked frankly.
Jeremy knew that Ebony had an unfavorable reputation, but he also knew she was a woman. In this tropical rain forest, it's more difficult for women to survive than men.
Jeremy recalled that he had met some teams before, and heard that someone had already been eliminated.
So he tentatively asked, "Were your teammates eliminated?"
Ebony glanced at him and said without hesitation, "My teammates have been eliminated."
What she said was "have been eliminated", and not "were eliminated".
But Jeremy didn't notice the difference.
He hesitated for a moment and suggested, "If it's hard for you to act alone, you can join us."
As he said, he looked back at Warren and asked, "What do you think?"
Warren was a soldier after all. Although he knew it would be more difficult to move forward with a woman, he still agreed, "No problem."
Jeremy said to Ebony, "Come here."
After a short silence, Ebony jumped down and walked to them.
Seeing that she was empty-handed, Jeremy said in a seemingly indifferent manner, "Have you run out of your supplies? Did you threw away all your bags? It's okay, let's go forward. We should be able to find some water."
Then they decided to go forward.
Ebony put both hands in the pockets of her trousers and stood still, asking, "Don't you want the clue?"
Warren turned around and smiled bitterly, "It's too high to reach. The clue is unavailable."
Ebony glanced at the height of the tree and commented, "It's not that high."
As she was saying that, she took both hands out of the pockets, moved her wrists, stepped on a rock, and climbed up the tree.
"Hey, stop climbing!" Jeremy hurriedly shouted.
Warren said, "It's too dangerous, you..."
Warren swallowed the rest words he was going to say!
Because he saw that Ebony was so agile that she had already climbed to the first branch of the big tree in just a few seconds, like a snake wandering around.
And she was moving upward with ease.
Warren and Jeremy were in shock.
Ebony had a green ribbon clamped between her teeth and jumped down from the tree in a relaxed manner five minutes later.
She dusted off her hands, took a glance at the words on the ribbon, and met two pairs of terrified eyes when she raised her head.
Ebony frowned, "What's wrong?"
Warren felt hot on the face and couldn't help saying, "You...you are really agile."
Ebony gave a faint sneer.
She stared at Warren for a while, and suddenly asked, "No water to drink?"
Warren touched his own mouth subconsciously, finding that his lips were already cracked and bleeding.
Ebony looked at Jeremy and said, "One hundred and fifty dollars for a bottle of water. Do you want it?"
Jeremy was still in shock at Ebony's ability to climb trees, but he was more shocked when he heard her words, "You have water?"
Ebony replied, "Just tell me if you want it."
"Yes. I really want it, but I don't have any money right now. I'll pay you after I get out of here. I promise I won't default on the bill!"
Ebony burst into laughter, "Even if you're a deadbeat, I have my own way to let you pay me back. Wait! They should be there in three minutes."
Jeremy puzzled, "They?"
Three minutes later, Jeremy knew what "they" meant.
Kelly, who was carrying a bag, Tristan, who was carrying two bags, and Lloyd, who was carrying no bag, walked to them slowly.
It seemed that everything was under Ebony's control. She handed the ribbon in her pocket to Lloyd.
Then she took out a bottle of stream water from Tristan's backpack and threw it to Jeremy.
Jeremy hurriedly caught it, unscrewed the lid, and swigging it.
After drinking half of it, he handed it to Warren.
Warren only drank one-third of the rest water, closed the lid, and asked Ebony, "The four of you have been in the same team?"
Ebony said, "Yes."
Warren looked at Tristan and Kelly behind Ebony.
Jeremy looked at Lloyd.
Jeremy had never seen Lloyd before entering the forest. He never expected that Lloyd would join this show.
Ebony took out a lunch box at this time.
When it was opened, the smell of fried food was out.
Warren and Jeremy were attracted and looked at her with eyes full of hope.
Ebony walked to show them the fried worms inside, and asked with a smile, "Do you want to have a try?"
Jeremy didn't dare to eat worms, but Warren was so hungry that he wanted to try.
Ebony gave Warren one.
After eating it, Warren felt that this worm tasted more delicious than anything he had ever eaten in his life!
Jeremy was so curious that he ate one.
The worm was so tasty that he almost felt himself in heaven.
God knew how long they were hungry!
Now everything for them was a full feast!
Jeremy couldn't help reaching out to have one more.
But Ebony closed the lunch box and said, "No free sample now. A worm is priced two dollars. Do you want to buy them?"
Jeremy's eyes widened instantly.
Warren kept licking his lips greedily.
Jeremy gritted his teeth and said, "I want ten worms. No! Twenty!"
Ebony gave twenty ones to him.
He gave ten to Warren, and the two of them ate with relish.
At this time, Ebony said to Warren, "Your leg is injured. Do you need treatment? The outpatient fee is seven hundred dollars, and the medical fee is fifteen hundred dollars. You are guaranteed to be in good condition."
Warren was stunned, "Outpatient? Medicine?"
Jeremy replied without any hesitation, "Yes, he needs. I'll pay. Give him the treatment now!"
Ebony smiled, "Oh, you guys are so dirty. Do you want to take a bath? I'll take you to the nearest water source. Fifteen hundred dollars to lead the way."
Jeremy hurriedly nodded, "Deal!"
Ebony asked again, "Do you need some clothes? Seven hundred dollars for a piece of clothes and one hundred and fifty dollars for a towel."
Jeremy thought it was incredulous and asked in doubt, "You even have extra clothes and towels?"
Ebony said with a smile, "Yes. I also have extra tents. It must be very hard to be exposed to the wind and the sun, right? Are you eager to sleep peacefully at night? My tents here are of high quality. They're sturdy and durable. Considering that you are my first customer, the price is only fifteen thousand dollars. With that reasonable price, you can enjoy a peaceful sleep in the forest. How cost-effective! Do you want it?"
Jeremy, "..."
