Chapter 316 When Flowers Bloomed and Ice Melted
Ebony, "???"
Ebony, "..."
Ebony was almost dumbfounded.
'This... This... This is...'
Ebony was astonished.
The others present, however, didn't feel as if there was anything wrong.
Jon and Darryl walked down quickly.
They greeted Ebony with a smile, "Here you are, Ebnoy."
Ebony hurriedly greeted in return, "Hello, Jon, Darryl."
At that moment, Darryl wrapped his arm around Chadwick's neck and presented Chadwick to Ebony, "This is your second elder brother."
Unlike Jon's calmness, Darryl's dominance, and Yvan's gentleness, Chadwick, her second elder brother, looked tough.
He was always in the front line. He had a darker skin color. He had a straight stance and steely eyes. Just standing there, he made one feel reassured and safe.
This was the feeling that soldiers would bring to people.
Looking at Chadwick, Ebony's eyes suddenly changed a little. She felt as if she had seen her father.
Her father used to be like that. As long as her father, the man with a tall, magnificent figure, was next to her, even if he was wearing casual clothes, she would feel where she was standing was the safest place in the world.
Chadwick then swatted away Darryl's hand on his shoulder. He walked over and stopped in front of Ebony. He looked at the petite girl in front of him and reached out to stroke the top of her head as softly as he could.
Ebony looked up at Chadwick.
Chadwick forced a smile. Ebony could see that he might not smile very often. So, his smile was a little stiff. He said, "You've already become a big girl."
Ebony suddenly felt her nose a bit sour. Probably because Chadwick and her father were so much alike that she even thought it was her father talking to her for a moment.
Ebony pinched her fingers a little and took a deep breath, saying, "Hello, Chadwick."
Chadwick smiled more gently as he nodded. He took back his hand and said, "Good girl."
At that moment, the maid came out of the kitchen and asked, "Ma'am, is it ready to serve?"
Chasidah hurriedly said; "Sure, Sure, come on! Ebs should be hungry. Let's go have lunch."
It did not take long for everyone to be seated.
Looking at Lloyd, who was sitting far away from her, Ebony wanted to sit closer to him. So, she asked deliberately, "Lloyd, is it convenient for you to pick up the food?"
Chasidah was stunned. She looked at her daughter and then looked at Lloyd, who was sitting on the other side of the table.
She frowned a little and asked Lloyd, "Lloyd, is it convenient for you to pick up the food?"
Lloyd waited for a second and was about to answer.
But then, he saw everyone at the table looking at him instantly.
Jon took off his gold-rimmed glasses and put them aside.
Chadwick played with his fork, as if he was playing with a gun.
Darryl leaned against the back of the dining chair and cracked his knuckles, which made a rattling sound.
Rosie was holding a cup of boiling water.
Lydia came to him with a plate of chili oil.
Those kids were looking at him and were ready to make a move.
Lloyd, "..."
Lloyd let out a long sigh and said somewhat wearily, "Yeah, it's convenient."
In an instant, the atmosphere of the room turned into the Spring days when flowers bloomed and ice melted.
The tense atmosphere at the table was gone, leaving only a strong sense of warmth and harmony.
Ebony, "..."
After the meal started, Ebony was still the attention of everyone.
Carlton was sitting next to Lloyd. At this time, he tugged on the corner of Lloyd's coat quietly.
Lloyd looked sideways at him.
Carlton sighed and said in a comforting tone, "Lloyd, just be grateful. At least you can have a meal at the table. Grandpa can only eat in the study."
Lloyd, "..."
So, should he be happy?
After lunch, Stella held Ebony's hand and took her to the garden in the back to get some quietness.
Once Ebony left the crowd, she was instantly relieved. She put her arms around Stella, saying, "You know me."
Stella smiled coyly and said, "Aunt Ebs, would you like some tea?"
Ebony smiled and said, "Sure."
Then, Stella took Ebony to the open tea room in the garden.
The tea room had a lot of tea sets.
While Stella was making the tea, Ebony looked at the tea sets and asked, "Are these all yours?"
Stella shook her head, "No, these are grandpa's."
Ebony paused, "My father?"
Stella nodded, "Grandpa likes tea very much. He taught me how to make tea." While saying that, Stella had already made a cup of tea. She brought it to Ebony.
Ebony picked it up and took a sip. After tasting it, she said, "It's good."
Stella smiled and continued to make the tea.
At that moment, Ebony looked at some of the windows upstairs and asked, "Which one is the study?"
Stella pointed to one of the windows and said, "That one."
Ebony put the cup of tea down and she went over to Stella, asking in a whisper, "What kind of tea does your grandfather like?"
Stella thought for a moment and answered, "The Dragon Well."
Ebony immediately got up. She found the Dragon Well among a bunch of jars containing tea. Then, she opened the lid.
Seeing this, Stella was startled. She stopped Ebony in a panic and said, "Aunt... Aunt Ebs... Even if you don't want to admit Grandpa, you don't have to poison him!"
Ebony, "..."
Ebony knocked Stella on her forehead and said, "What are you thinking about?"
While speaking, she brought over another set of clean tea sets. She took out the Dragon Well Tea and started to make the tea.
Ebony did a very professional job of making the tea. She made all the fancy tricks, which made Stella dumbfounded, "Aunt Ebs, you know the Tea ceremony?"
Ebony said casually, "A little."
Ebony had known how to make tea since she was a kid. Because her grandfather liked it.
After a cup of tea was made, Ebony handed it to Stella and said, "Take it up to your Grandpa."
Stella gave Ebony a deep look. Then, she laughed and got up, saying, "Aunt Ebs, I'll tell Grandpa that you made this!"
After that, the little girl walked into the house with that teacup.
Once Stella left, Ebony was the only one left in the tea room.
She picked up the cup of tea she hadn't finished and walked out of the tea room to take a stroll in the garden.
Ebony walked to a high spot from which she could look down and see the secluded trails outside.
She took another sip of tea.
At that moment, there was a sudden sound of footsteps behind her.
Ebony thought it was Stella coming back. She turned around and saw that it was Lloyd.
Ebony's eyes lit up. She raised a smile in a flash and asked Lloyd, "Didn't they stop you from coming outside?"
Lloyd walked over to her and smoothed down her hair which had been windblown. He raised his eyebrows and asked, "Are you happy to see me be made difficult?"
Ebony snickered and leaned against the stone fence next to her.
The breeze came with the fragrance of flowers.
The midday sun was perfect. They looked at each other.
At that moment, an old couple walked by the trail.
Lloyd looked that way.
The old man was in a wheelchair, which was pushed by the old grandmother.
They were talking and laughing. When they were excited about some topics, the old man turned around and patted the back of the old lady's hand. The old lady looked at him. Then, they smiled at each other.
They look intimate. Although they were old, they were sweet and romantic.
Lloyd watched the couple. Then he looked at Ebony and asked, "Are we going to be like them in the future?"
Ebony was stunned. Then, she also looked at the old couple.
After a moment of silence, she asked, "You mean... You want to be in a wheelchair too?"
