Chapter 266 Build a Cottage, I Don't Like Shed
Slap.
Slap! Slap!
Ebony slapped the back of Lloyd's hand three times, which made it swollen.
The man finally let go of her.
Ebony straightened up, glared at him, and yelled, "What are you doing!"
Lloyd arched his eyebrow and looked back at Donald and Kara.
Ebony whipped her head back and glared at them.
Donald and Kara felt wronged. They hurriedly waved their hands.
Kara said, "What has it got to do with us? We're friends!"
Lloyd said blandly, "We are not, we are love... Mmm..."
Before he could finish his words, his mouth was suddenly covered by Ebony.
He looked at the exasperated girl and smiled with his eyes.
He had the nerve to smile. Ebony hit him on the arm, unclenched her fist, and huffed at Donald and Kara, "Don't hug and set an example for him! This guy is terrible to the core!"
She then instructed Lloyd, "Sort out the supplies immediately!"
Lloyd chuckled and obediently bent down to do his job.
Donald and Kara were stupefied.
What a brilliant trick!
After a while, dinner was ready.
The food was simple. They fried some wild vegetables and some fruits. There was no rice.
Thankfully, there was enough fruit and wild vegetable soup to fill more than half of their stomach.
Unlike the others, Ebony was not replete at all.
At night, Ebony and Kara slept in the simple shelter.
The shelter, about the size of a tent, was covered with banana leaves. There were gaps, and wind came in.
Ebony looked at the gaps, got an idea, gave the blanket to Kara, and said, "Sleep tight."
Kara said embarrassedly, "No, we'll share the blanket."
Ebony said indifferently, "I'll keep watch. You sleep first."
With that, she exited the shelter, went to the campfire, and sat down next to Lloyd.
With a branch, she poked at the bonfire to make it burn stronger and then asked, "Are we going to stay here for the next few days?"
Lloyd looked at her and hummed wonderingly.
Ebony said, "I mean, what do you think? Shall we settle here or look around? There may be a cave and the like. This shabby shelter will collapse for sure if there is a rainstorm."
Lloyd said blandly, "There are no caves."
Ebony was surprised.
Lloyd explained, "The island is not big. Given the distribution of the peripheral sand forest, this should be a medium-sized island. In the afternoon, we covered a long distance, but no signs of any cave or cavern were seen. It shows the possibility for caves to form is low."
Ebony started pondering.
She had planned to find a cave to live in. It was warm in winter and cool in summer, but if there were no caves...
Ebony turned to look at the two shelters.
Lloyd followed her to look over and said, "Shabby indeed."
Ebony sighed, thought about it, and said, "Here is the plan. You'll go look for food tomorrow. Since we've got a knife, I'll make a harpoon, with which you can catch some fish."
Lloyd looked at her and asked, "What about you?"
Ebony replied, "I'll stay at the camp and build a cottage. I don't like to live in a shed."
Lloyd was lost for words.
Belinda hadn't had any water for more than 12 hours.
Her lips were dry and cracked. Sitting on a rock, she felt weak and might pass out at any second.
The sun was scorching overhead, and the high temperature was going to melt people.
"Belinda!"
Josue's voice came from behind her.
With difficulty, Belinda looked back and saw Josue running over with a few wild fruits in his hands.
"I've got something to eat!" Josue came to her side, gave the fruit to Belinda, and said excitedly, "Have some!"
Belinda hurriedly grabbed the fruit and took a bite. The taste was sour, bitter, and shocking.
She quickly spat it out and asked weakly, "It tastes awful."
Josue tore the fruit apart, had a bite, and grimaced.
Instead of spitting it out, he swallowed it and said with difficulty, "This is the only thing we have. Hold your breath and swallow it. Don't taste it."
Belinda was reluctant. She asked, "Is this all you can find?"
Josue sighed and said, "They noticed your condition and led me there through the drone. The snacks in our suitcases have run out. The program team refuses to give us food and water. Although this thing tastes bad, it can quench our thirst and fill our stomachs. It's better than nothing."
Belinda felt aggrieved, shed tears, and said sadly, "How could the program team do this..."
Josue ate half of the fruit and hesitantly said, "How about we quit? There will be a helicopter picking us up."
"No!" Belinda gritted her teeth, "Quitting is like surrender. Ebony and the others haven't quit. Why would I? I am not inferior to her!"
Josue was torn. "You..."
"Josue, Belinda?" A surprised voice suddenly came from behind them.
Josue and Belinda looked back and saw Donald.
Donald was a bit unkempt. His trouser legs had been rolled up, and he was wearing a straw hat. As soon as he saw Josue and Belinda, he ran over with the stuff in his hands.
Excited to see the man, Josue called out, "Donald."
Donald looked at them in surprise. It had been just two days, but the two celebrities had been reduced to this.
They looked like beggars.
Belinda's face was bloodless, and the refined Josue had got the stubble.
There were dark circles under his eyes. His skin was dull and dark.
Donald squatted down and asked, "What happened to you two? How... are you doing in the past two days?"
Josue gave a bitter smile and shook his head.
Met with such responses from them, Donald didn't press. Instead, he hurriedly ungirded the coconut, handed it to Belinda, and said, "Belinda, your lips are cracked. Have some coconut juice."
As soon as Belinda saw the coconut, she snatched it and glugged down the juice.
Josue looked at the coconut. His throat bobbed, and he swallowed.
Donald quickly took out two small fruits from his pocket and gave them to the man. "Have this fruit. It's tasty and juicy."
Josue had seen this fruit before, but he was not sure if it was poisonous. The program team hadn't given him any hint, and he hadn't dared to eat it.
As Donald said so, he gobbled them down.
When Belinda and Josue got better, Donald watched their poor conditions and said, "Don't tell me you haven't eaten anything and have slept in the wild in the two days. You can't go on like this. Why don't you go back with me? Everyone is there, and we can get each other's back."
Josue almost blurted out his agreement, but Belinda refused while holding the coconut, "I'm not going!"
Josue froze, looked at her, and sighed.
Belinda was insistent. She was not going.
Met with such a response, Donald thought of the fish in the basket. It shouldn't be basked in the sun. He hesitated for a moment and said, "Well, if you want to come, follow this path and go straight ahead. You'll see us in about half an hour."
Neither Josue nor Belinda uttered a sound.
Donald had to go by himself.
When he walked away, Josue looked at Belinda and proposed again, "Why don't we just quit?"
"No!" Belinda stubbornly bit her lips. After a while, she shut her eyes, got up, and said, "We'll go and take a look. I don't believe they're in a much better situation. I'll go and see Ebony's pitiful face. Then I'll quit!"
Josue thought she was bewitched.
An hour later, Josue and Belinda finally came out of the forest following Donald's instructions.
But they didn't see anyone.
They went on forward and suddenly heard Kara's voice coming from the shade of the trees. "I don't feel like eating fish tonight. How about crabs? Donald, how many did you catch?"
Then they heard Donald's reply. "I only set two nets last night, so the capture is not many. There are only three crabs and seven or eight shrimps."
Kara said, "There are shrimps. How about we boil them?"
"No!" Ebony's cool voice rang out, "The shrimps should be braised. Lloyd likes it!"
"Lloyd, not again!" Kara sulked.
Donald tried to smooth things over. "Braised ones are not bad. Kara, stop pouting. Where are the strawberries from yesterday? You can have some of them."
Kara flipped out, "There are none. Ebo has made them into the strawberry sauce. According to her, Lloyd likes to have scones with strawberry sauce and dried fruit."
Donald felt helpless and said awkwardly, "It's okay. The next time I find wild strawberries, I'll give them to you."
Kara said sullenly, "Who would believe that?"
She didn't take his words seriously.
Belinda vacantly lifted the leaf of a banana tree.
Through the thick trees, she saw something huge by the cliff. What the hell was that? A castle?
The square house was built along the hill. The frame was made of wood and covered with banana leaves. Probably because the leaves were not stable, a layer of mud had been smeared outside.
The dirt was hard and compacted. After it was baked, it could shield the wind and rain. Through the crevice of the door, she even saw a soft grass mattress and thick blankets inside.
The house was big and solid. The open space in front of it was harmonious.
There was a campfire and a wooden rack from which hung wild vegetables and smoked fish.
On the boulder aside, countless dried fruits were basked in the sun.
Belinda spotted Ebony in the crowd.
With a pile of leaves in her arms, she was working on something.
Lloyd was sitting next to her. The refined man gently picked up dried fruit from time to time and sent it to her mouth.
The girl naturally opened her mouth and had the dried fruit without raising her head.
When Belinda saw that, she clutched the banana leaves. Her pale face was contorted.
Ebony, who was chewing on the pulp, suddenly raised her head.
Her dark eyes glanced ahead, and she immediately spotted the two uninvited guests.
She leaned back, arched her brow in surprise, and said unhurriedly, "Yo, we've got visitors."
Belinda was supported by Josue. Once she was spotted, she pushed him away and went forward.
Kara and Donald stiffened at the sight of the two visitors.
Lloyd glanced over, soon took his eyes back, and sent another dried fruit to Ebony's mouth.
Ebony naturally ate again.
Belinda was stimulated by the scene.
She went over, picked the dried fruit up from the rock, and stuffed it into her mouth.
Ebony froze and then narrowed her eyes.
Belinda glanced at Ebony, threw the rest of the dried fruit away as a fightback, stepped on a rock, and grabbed a smoked fish.
Like a crazy person, she tried to bite into the body of the fish.
Before her teeth could reach the fish, she was slapped in the face.
Belinda raised her head in shock and looked at Ebony.
Ebony threw the fish to the ground, dusted off her hands, squinted at the crazy woman, and said coldly, "I'll share a little life knowledge with you. The palm prints reveal one's personality. For example, my palm prints landed on your face, which shows that I'm short-tempered. Belinda, you're courting death by eating my food."
