Chapter 20

Chapter 20
Mr. Sanchez?
Vanessa thought for a while, but she was so sleepy now that she couldn't remember who Mr. Sanchez was, so she messaged Shawn back with a few question marks again.
The moment she just sent the message, Vanessa suddenly realized who Shawn was talking about.
Theo Sanchez!
Vanessa was so surprised when she saw Shawn's message. Of course, she also felt a bit happy.
However, she was now all thinking about Theo Sanchez. Then, Vanessa immediately sent a few messages to Shawn.
"You mean Theo Sanchez?"
"He wants to see me?"
"But why?"
A haze of smoke and the smell filled in the room, and people were still drinking and exchanging pleasantries. Everyone here was ambitious, though they all seemed to be susceptible to flattery.
In the room, Shawn sat there and looked at Vanessa's messages.
He took off his glasses and rubbed his forehead.
Hearing the others' conversations, Shawn was now like an outsider. He clicked Vanessa's moments and looked at the newest picture Vanessa uploaded.
There seemed to be a night breeze blowing to him with the cold of the river and the fresh air of the mountain in the Ariana.
When he went to the chat interface with Vanessa, there were two more messages from Vanessa.
"Come on! Tell me!"
"I'm still waiting!"
"He's willing to accept an interview!" Shawn replied.
...
Vanessa was immediately delighted when she saw the message. She kept messaging Shawn thanks.
"Really! OMG!"
"I will come back to Lantrie soon!"
Vanessa lay on the bed, and her heart was thumping out of the pleasure.
She never thought that she would get a chance and communicate with Theo.
Vanessa turned over and lay face down on the bed. After a while, she recovered from the huge joy and slowly calm down.
Vanessa then became serious and confused.
She took her phone and messaged Shawn a question mark again.
Soon, she got Shawn's reply. "What?"
Vanessa slowly typed a message. "No... I just want to ask..." She hesitated for a moment and deleted the message.
She just wanted to know when she asked to interview Theo.
However, the coldness in Shawn's tone let Vanessa immediately give up the idea of asking him about that.
The next day morning, she received a call from Theo's assistant.
On the phone, Theo's assistant asked Vanessa about the time and some details of the interview. Vanessa checked her schedule and said, "Anytime is okay for me! I can adjust my schedule!"
The assistant said, "Well, then let me see. How about the next week? It may be a bit hurry for you, but the topic of the interview is not very hard for you to get prepared for."
"Okay!" Vanessa said, "I will come back to get prepared today!"
The assistant asked, "Are you abroad now?"
"No! I'm in Ariana for a business trip now."
The assistant then said, "I see. Hold on a second!"
Then, the assistant told Theo about that.
"Ariana..." Theo murmured while thinking. Then, he took over the phone and said, "That's okay. Take your time there."
He paused for a while. Looking at the bare trees outside through the window, Theo also thought of the beautiful snow he had seen in Ariana, so he said, "The snow in Ariana is very beautiful! You can stay there for more days. Besides, I won't be free until next weekend!"
"Well, thank you a lot!"
Vanessa hung up in surprise. She never thought that Theo would be so nice.
Outside, it had long been dawn! Vanessa slowly got up and pulled open the curtains. Immediately, she saw the snowflakes that whirled in the sky like a myriad of feathers.
The whole city was covered by snow, even the trees on the street.
Vanessa hesitated again. She took out her phone, considering whether she should go to the airport right now or change the flight.
Before she could make up her mind, the airline sent her a notice.
"Due to the weather, the flight is delayed."
Vanessa then felt relaxed at once and directly change the flight.
Then, she called Emily immediately.
It was the weekend, so Emily was totally free. She was going to see Vanessa off at the airport but suddenly heard that Vanessa would stay there for more days. Emily was so excited that she immediately drove to pick Vanessa up.
Mt. Ariana was the best place for people to enjoy the snow scene in Ariana.
The mountain was capped with snow, and the lake was icy. It was totally a world of ice and snow.
Emily had booked a hotel here with the best position. They drew the curtains and immediately saw the beautiful snow world outside through the floor-to-ceiling window.
Vanessa spent two days here and took many photos and videos.
She uploaded nine photos of the snow to her moments at noon on the first day.
On the same day afternoon, Vanessa uploaded another nine photos that she was playing in the snow.
In the evening, she even transmitted live the campfire party held by the hotel.
The next day was still a fun day.
As a person who had never seen snow before, Vanessa really had a lot of fun these days.
She enjoyed being here so much not only because of the beautiful snow in Ariana, but also because she had a lot of pressure both physically and mentally. Therefore, these days in Ariane with her friend really made her relaxed.
In here, she didn't need to worry about her job, and there were no annoying Jackson, Bianca, and that heartless Shawn.
Therefore, when it came to leaving, Vanessa sat on the bus that was down the mountain with Emily at 7:00 am. Looking out of the window, Vanessa murmured with pity, "I really don't want to leave."
Emily said, "It's not a big deal! You can ask for two more days off. Your boss is a nice person, and I'm sure she will agree with that."
Vanessa leaned against the window and said nothing.
It seemed like she was really considering staying here for more days.
Emily felt a bit funny and said, "Look at you! Don't forget you still have an unfinished plan in Lantrie!"
Vanessa turned her head and looked at Emily blankly. After a while, she realized what Emily meant.
"You mean Shawn?"
Vanessa snorted unhappily. "It seems like I can make it as long as I come back."
Although she said so, what Emily said still reminded Vanessa of Shawn. Vanessa again roused herself.
She got used to "flirting with" him, but now they didn't talk to each other for a few days. Vanessa felt a bit upset.
Anyway, she was going back now, and she shouldn't give up her plan.
Therefore, Vanessa took out her phone and thought for a while.
Then, she just messaged Shawn with four simple words. "I'm going back!"
This was the first time Vanessa sent Shawn a message on her own initiative, and she felt so nervous, having no idea what Shawn would reply.
Or, maybe Shawn wouldn't reply at all.
The bus slowly bumped its way slowly down the mountain.
Vanessa leaned back in the seat and was sleepy in the fuggy air of the bus. Suddenly, her phone vibrated.
Shawn sent a message back. "So soon!"
Vanessa slowly came back to her senses when looking at the message.
She stared at her phone for a long time and suddenly had a feeling that Shawn was satirizing her, but she didn't know why.
Vanessa could even imagine Shawn's look with a sneer.
If she was right, Shawn was definitely complaining that she had left for too long.
Therefore, Vanessa couldn't help but think that Shawn must miss her after so many days he didn't see her!
While Vanessa thought about this, the bus suddenly jolted. All the people on the bus cried out, and Vanessa's head also hit the window.
The pain came, and Vanessa immediately recovered from her imagination.
She immediately denied her idea.
How could it be possible!
Shawn was always so cold as if nothing could affect him.
However, Vanessa still wanted to make a banter.
"You sounded a bit weird today."
She immediately got Shawn's reply.
"You overthought it."
Vanessa sent a message with a smile, "You are cute, Shawn."
Then, Vanessa waited for a while but got no reply.
She lowered her head, and the bus bumped along the dirt track.
It seemed that she again ended the conversation with a bad joke.
...
Vanessa arrived at Lantrie in the afternoon. When she came back to the residence and was about to enter the gate, a guard called her to stop.
"Hey, Miss!" The guard pokes his head out of the guard room and said, "Vanessa, right?"
Vanessa nodded and asked, "Yeah?"
The guard said with a frown, "So many packages of you arrived these days, and there is not enough room for those packages here, so we moved them to the office. Remember to take them later!"
Then, the guard looked at Vanessa and said, "I'll help you to get them."
Vanessa wasn't surprised to hear that there were some packages for her, but when the guard said that there was not enough room to keep her packages, she paused for a moment.
Soon, she realized that they must be the clothes Sophia bought for her.
"Don't bother!" Vanessa refused the guard's help and sighed.
She thought she could have a good rest after she came back home, but unexpectedly, she needed to deal with the packages first.
...
At the dinner time, Shawn's phone kept vibrating.
He checked his phone, and there were many refund messages from the bank.

Shawn glanced at Sophia, who was now putting her hand on the table cloth and taking photos of her colorful nails.
Shawn never cared about the deduction messages from the bank.
After all, he knew clearly about Sophia's consumption ability.
But it was the first time he received the refund messages.
"You changed your mind?" Shawn asked coldly, "Now you know that you should return the stuff you don't like?"
Sophia paused for a moment before she realized that Shawn was asking her. "What?" she asked.
Return the stuff?
She would never bother to do that in her life.
After all, it was much more convenient to throw the stuff she didn't like than to return them back.
Shawn said nothing but raised his phone. Sophia then realized what happened.
"Oh, I see! It should be Vanessa!"
Shawn glanced at Sophia and said, "Vanessa?"
"Why did she return the clothes?" Sophia murmured with confusion. Then, she explained to Shawn and fumbled, "Well, I found that I might have misunderstood her last time, so I bought her a few clothes to express my apologizes..."
Shawn raised his eyebrows, motioning Sophia to continue.
"But I didn't think that she would return the clothes."
Shawn pointed at the screen of his phone and said, "Are you sure you just bought a few clothes?"
Sophia lowered her head and said nothing.
Shawn then looked at the refund messages.
The clothes Sophia bought were all very expensive. It seemed that Vanessa wasn't a greedy woman.
Shawn paused, apparently lost in thought.
...
On Monday morning, most of the people didn't rearm from the break. They were all holding coffee in their hands while yawning and sitting on their seats, lost in thought.
Vanessa was literally an exception. She felt bright and cheerful and full of energy. With a smile, she had approached her job with renewed vigor, which had drawn all people's attention.
They all looked at Vanessa until she entered Zoie's office.
"Why is she so happy?"
As soon as she came into Zoie's office, Zoie was immediately infected by Vanessa's joy. "Are you dating someone?"
Vanessa:"......"
Vanessa paused for a moment.
"Not yet!" Vanessa walked closer to Zoie and said with a smile, "I have an interview about Theo this week!"
Zoie fell silent for a moment.
Then, she looked up at Vanessa and asked, "Theo?"
Vanessa shrugged her shoulders and said, "Yeah! Theo Sanchez!"
Zoie asked again, "You're not kidding, right?"
Vanessa said, "Of course not!"
Zoie gasped. "You contacted him by yourself?"
Vanessa thought for a while and said, "Yes, you can say so."
The doubt in Zoie's eyes had gone, and a trace of joy showed in her eyes.
It had been so many years since the last time Theo was interviewed.
It seemed that Theo was retired now, but actually, he still had a great influence on the financial market.
Therefore, he was still an authority in the financial market.
Therefore, the exclusive interview about Theo after so many years would definitely cause a sensation.
However...
Zoie looked at Vanessa with a bitter smile.
"You really cause me a problem!"
Vanessa asked, "What's going on?"
Zoie lowered her head and waved her hand at Vanessa. "Nothing, just hand me your subject as soon as possible, and the interview about Theo will be on the main page of this season."
Vanessa walked out of the office and said with a smile, "Okay!"
In the office area.
Tracy immediately asked Vanessa as soon as Vanessa walked out of Zoie's office, "What happened? You look so happy!"
Vanessa secretly told Tracy everything. Tracy was shocked and said, "Wow! Good job! You're so amazing!"
Vanessa shushed Tracy and said in a low voice, "Keep it a secret."
Tracy glanced at Lily and nodded. "I know. I'll keep it a secret."
Sophia, who had just come to work, immediately walked to them and asked, "What happened?"
Vanessa didn't want to tell her, so she just asked Sophia with a smile, "I have an interview this weekend. Do you want to come with me?"
Thinking that the interview might occupy her weekend, Sophia immediately shook her head and said, "Nope! I have something very important to do this weekend."
"Well." Vanessa shook her head slowly. "Don't regret it! It's a good opportunity!"
However, Sophia didn't take what Vanessa said seriously.
Beside them, someone took in their conversation and heard roughly what they said.
Lily rubbed her temples while looking at her interview outline on the screen of the computer and snorted contemptuously.
Meanwhile, in the office, Zoie looked at her computer with a worried look.
A few days ago, Lily came to the chief editor and complained that she hadn't got the main page this year. Besides, she also explained that she was thoughtless to grab Vanessa's interview, but she had worked here for so many years, and now it really hurt her to be treated like this.
In the end, the chief editor was annoyed, but he couldn't just let Lily go. Therefore, he asked Zoie to give the last main page of this year to Lily.
However, now Vanessa told Zoie that she got a chance to interview Theo!
Without a doubt, the interview of Theo must be on the main page.
...
On the morning of the weekend, to make her look more spirited, Vanessa woke up early to do a morning jog.
After she came back, Vanessa took a shower and wore a little makeup. She didn't use perfume so that she looked plain and neat.
The place of the interview was at Theo's home, which was in a wealthy suburb.
It was an old villa area of the Lantrie. Some young upstarts also moved there to show their status. Therefore, there was more lively than before.
At nine o'clock in the morning, so many young people were running on the street.
Vanessa got out of the taxi in front of the gate and then walked to Theo's house.
Vanessa arrived here ten minutes earlier. She stood in front of the door and checked her makeup through a small mirror. Then, she raised her hand and smoothed her hair which was a bit rumpled in wind.
Suddenly, the door in front of her opened.
Before Vanessa could realize what happened, Shawn showed up.
A breeze in the morning blew across the avenue, and the slight coldness woke Vanessa up from the shock.
Shawn was now just wearing a shirt, which looked a bit cold in this season.
However, he held the door with one hand with a calm look. Vanessa couldn't help but wonder whether he felt cold at this time.
Vanessa jutted her chin out and unexpectedly met Shawn's gaze.
Under the dim light, Shawn looked quiet and distant.
Behind his glasses, Shawn's deep-set eyes were still cold. When he stared at someone, there would be a magic attraction.
Vanessa looked at Shawn blankly and subconsciously asked, "Why are you here?"
Shawn glanced at her with a raised eyebrow. He didn't say anything, but Vanessa already regretted what she said.
She almost forgot that Theo was Shawn's uncle.
But still, Vanessa thought it was fate that she could come across Shawn here. She couldn't help but feel very happy.
"What a coincidence!" With a big smile, Vanessa said, "I'm really happy to see you here, Mr. Yeats!"
As soon as she finished speaking, the maid came over to greet Vanessa.
"Is that Ms. Green? Come in, please."
The maid said in a loud voice that even covered the sound of wind blowing as well as Shawn's reply.
Shawn leaned to one side, motioning Vanessa to come in.
Theo's wife passed away many years ago, and his children were all busy working and could hardly have time to accompany him.
Therefore, there were only he and a maid living here in this three-storeyed villa all the time, so it was a bit empty in the villa.
At this moment, Theo was sitting on the sofa in the living room, and there was a tea set on the table in front of him.
Vanessa looked at Theo through a haze of the steaming tea. The fresh smell of the tea wafted towards her, which eased the tensions a bit.
Vanessa followed Shawn and walked to Theo. After Shawn sat casually opposite Theo, Vanessa suddenly didn't know what to do now.
Meanwhile, Theo held the teapot and poured a few cups of tea. Then, he asked, "Have a seat, please."
Then, Theo smiled a welcome. Obviously, Theo was a kind person.
Vanessa sat next to Shawn.
The seats around the table were also close together.
Sitting next to Shawn, Vanessa could even feel the warmth from Shawn and hear his breath.
Vanessa turned her head. She immediately saw Shawn's mandibular line and smelled the slight perfume on his body.
"Sorry to bother you, Mr. Sanchez!"Vanessa said in a soft voice, "It's really my honor to interview you."
"Thank you!" Then, Theo suddenly asked, "Have you had breakfast?"
Vanessa nodded, "Yeah!"
"Then, have some tea!" Theo then delivered Vanessa a cup of tea while saying, "It's my favorite tea! I usually don't share it with the others!"
Vanessa was really flattered by what Theo said. She took over the tea and felt a bit nervous.
"I just know a little about the tea. I usually drink the juice."
Shawn reached out and picked up his teacup. Without glancing at Vanessa, he said calmly, "Have a try. You will like it! The tea was boiled in snow water."
"What?"
Vanessa looked at Shawn with confusion. "Snow water?"
Shawn looked at her.
"You like the snow, right?"
Shawn said casually as if he just had an idle talk.
But Vanessa was very sure that what Shawn said was definitely an irony.
