Chapter 096 Unspoken Love
Teresa was back at her shop with her nephew. She saw a familiar car parked in front of the shop. It was Ezra's car.
Ezra was bringing food to his cousin again. It was not breakfast this time. He had asked the chef at his home to make some desserts. His excuse was that the chef made too many desserts and his family could not finish it, so he brought some to his cousin.
Gwendolyn did not think much. She and Teresa were both foodies, and she knew that there would be fresh desserts at her aunt's every day.
She gladly accepted what her cousin brought her and ate some of the desserts.
Ezra was worried that Gwendolyn would finish all the desserts. Before Teresa arrived at the shop, he kept looking outside the shop while asking Gwendolyn, "Gwen, Teresa is coming to the shop today, isn't she?"
"Yes. She will come later," Gwendolyn said indifferently.
Her home was very close to the shop, so she usually came over in the morning to open the door and to take care of the business in the morning.
Teresa was in charge of the business at night.
"Married women are different from single women. Teresa used to live with her sister's family and was worried that her brother-in-law would not like it. So, she always helped with housework, grocery shopping, making breakfast and so on. Now that she's married, she is still the same. She never idles."
Gwendolyn glanced at her cousin and said with a smile, "You don't have to worry that I'll finish all the desserts. You've brought so many that I can't finish it all at once even if I eat like a horse. I'll leave some for Teresa."
Ezra blushed and Gwendolyn saw it. He was a little sheepish, so he said, "Teresa likes desserts too. Our chef went to Violet Cafe on purpose to learn how to make desserts. I think the desserts she made after that was better than what she made before."
"The desserts from Violet Cafe are indeed very delicious."
Gwendolyn went on a blind date there before. Although the date did not go well, she was very satisfied with the meal because the desserts were delicious.
Gwendolyn heard the sound of a car and said to her cousin, "Go out and see who is coming."
Ezra walked out and saw Teresa getting out of her car. He smiled and said, "Teresa, when did you buy a car?"
"It's been bought for a while, and I haven't driven it. My sister is looking for a job today. She asked me to take care of Andy. It's not safe to take Andy with me on my electric bike, so I drive."
"Ezra, don't you have to go to work?"
"Yes, I've brought Gwen some new desserts made by our chef so that you can try it. I'll go to work later. Teresa, the meal tomorrow..."
"Don't worry. I said I'll treat you to a meal and I will keep my promise. See you at noon tomorrow."
The next day was already Saturday.
She had promised to treat Ezra to a meal on Saturday as a reward for giving her a ride home and helping her repair her electric bike last time.
Ezra said with a smile, "I'm not worried that you will break your promise, but I'm worried that you're too busy and will change the date."
"No, I won't."
Teresa took the bag, and Ezra stepped forward to take it from her.
"Thanks."
After thanking him, Teresa leaned into the car and carried her nephew out of the car, praising the little guy, "Good boy, Andy. You didn't cry or make trouble. Let auntie give you a kiss."
With that, she kissed her nephew's cheek.
Ezra was envious to see this. When would Teresa kiss him?
"Andy, this is Uncle Ezra."
Teresa was teaching her nephew to call Ezra as uncle.
"Hello, Uncle Ezra," Andy greeted him in a babyish voice.
Ezra thought Andy was very cute and polite, so he smiled and touched Andy's head, "Hello, Andy."
Teresa, carrying her nephew, walked into the shop side by side with Ezra.
"Why do you bring Andy here? Come here, Andy. Auntie Gwen will hold you," Gwendolyn got up and took Andy from Teresa's arms. After sitting down, she asked Andy, "Do you want desserts, Andy?"
Andy looked at Teresa.
"Give him just one piece. Not too much, lest he refuse to eat at noon."
Teresa took the bag from Ezra and put it under the cashier.
"My sister has made up her mind and start looking for a job today. She asked me to take care of Andy. She will come over at noon."
Gwendolyn gave a piece of dessert to Andy.
Andy did not take it right away, but spread out his little hands and said, "Dirty."
Gwendolyn put down the dessert and carried him into the little kitchen to wash his hands.
She thought Leila had educated Andy very well. As for the child being naughty, which child wasn't naughty? If a child sat quietly all day, parents would have to worry if his IQ was problematic.
It was difficult to be children too. They would be either be called naughty or be suspected of having IQ problems if they were not naughty. Alas!
When they came out of the little kitchen, Gwendolyn gave a dessert to Andy. Andy took it and thanked her politely, "Thank you, Auntie Gwen."
"Good boy."
Gwendolyn would think of getting married and having a cute baby only when she saw Andy.
"Leila has finally taken the first step. I've talked about it with Ezra, but he is still in the training stage and can't help anyone into the financial department. I've also asked my uncle, and my uncle said there was no vacancy in the financial department in his company."
Gwendolyn felt sorry when saying these.
She had not been able to help Leila.
Ezra looked sorry too.
Although he was regarded as the successor, he could not help anyone into important departments or important positions in the company because he would not take over the Porter Group soon since he was still young and still in training.
He could help if it was a common position.
Teresa said, "It's okay. I believe my sister can get a job."
Hubert also said that his company's finance department had no vacancy.
"Leila used to work in the finance department. She has experience and it is not difficult to get a job."
Gwendolyn was very confident about Leila returning to work. She thought that the choice was with Leila and not the employers.
Ezra moved his lips as if wanted to say something, but after thinking about it, he said nothing in the end.
"Ezra, hurry up and go to work. Uncle will deduct your salary if you're late every day."
Gwendolyn urged her cousin to leave.
Ezra glanced at his cousin rather resentfully. He hadn't even said a word to Teresa yet.
"That's right, Ezra. Hurry up and go to work. Don't always arrive at work late and leave early. Everyone in the company is watching you," said Teresa.
The pressure of being the successor was high. Those who were not capable to take on major responsibilities would be given up by the family.
Ezra was not the only young man in the Porter family. He had several cousin brothers who were younger than him.
There would be some resistance if one who was capable but always had his way wanted to be the successor.
Being urged by both Gwendolyn and Teresa to go to work, Ezra had no choice but to leave.
