Chapter 6 Her Best Friend
Teresa said with a smile, "So keep it a secret from my sister. She will be sad if she knows the truth."
Gwendolyn, "..."
She thought Teresa was really courageous.
She originally believed that getting married with a stranger was just a plot of romantic stories, so she was surprised to know that Teresa had a lightning marriage and that the plot did happen in reality.
"You know what. The heroines of some romantic stories generally get married with the heroes who are billionaires. Teresa, is your hero a billionaire?"
Teresa flicked Gwendolyn on the forehead and said with a smile, "You must have read all the romantic stories in our bookshop, right? Wanting a lightning marriage to a billionaire is no difference from a daydream. Don't you think billionaires are rare?"
Gwendolyn said while rubbing the place flicked by Teresa, "It's okay if he is not a billionaire. I guess he must be a millionaire. After all, Watenll City is a metropolis full of millionaires."
Older people in Watenll City experienced the period of time of the city's rise. Many visionary ones of them had built several buildings for rent and bought some rooms along business streets. Therefore, they lived a good life by collecting rents.
Gwendolyn's parents owned some buildings for rent and rooms along almost half of a street, so Gwendolyn didn't need to work at all. Because she didn't like to be a rent collector, she ran the bookshop together with Teresa to kill time and earn a bit of pin money.
"Teresa, do you know who the man with several hundred billion dollars in Watenll City is?"
At the moment, Teresa got a call from the food delivery courier.
She went to get the takeaways and gave one to Gwendolyn after coming back.
She sat down opposite Gwendolyn, opened the takeout container, and said, "The richest family I know is your family. Is there someone who has several hundred billion dollars in Watenll City? Even if there is, I don't know who he is."
"I heard that the richest man in Watenll City really has several hundred billion dollars. I forgot his last name. I just heard it but I didn't remember it. I thought there was no need to remember his last name since I had no chance to contact with such a rich man for life."
Teresa said, "You are rich but you still can't have the opportunity to contact with the richest man for life, not to mention the poor ordinary people like me. I started my business many years ago and earned a lot, but I still can't afford to buy a house."
She had to get married with Hubert to live in a big house which was not owned by her. If she and Hubert divorced, she would have to move out.
"You can pay for a house by installments. Is your deposit enough for the down payment?"
"It's enough for a down payment on a small house, but I want to buy a larger one. If my sister comes to me with Andy and wants to stay with me, I can leave room for them if I have a larger one."
The house price in Watenll City was getting higher and higher, and her speed of earning money failed to keep up with the rising speed of house price.
"How about I lend you some without interest?"
Teresa put a piece of braised pork into Gwendolyn's takeout container, saying, "The braised pork tastes good. Try it. I'm married and my husband has a house. I can live in his house, so I'd like to put aside the matter of buying a house."
"Where is your husband's house?"
"Florence Garden."
"That's good. It enjoys a great environment and convenient transportation. It's not far away from our bookshop. What company does your husband work in? Since he can afford a house in a high-end community like Florence Garden in Watenll City, his income must be very high. How much is the monthly installment? Do you need to help him pay the mortgage?"
"Teresa, if he asks you to help pay the mortgage, you need to let him add your name to the property certificate. Otherwise it will be unfair. If you two have a bad relationship one day and then divorce, you will fail to share the house because it belongs to him."

Teresa looked at Gwendolyn and said, "You and my sister think the same. But he bought the house with full payment and I didn't spend a penny. I think it's improper to ask him to add my name to the property certificate."
Gwendolyn said, "It doesn't matter if you have a good and lasting relationship."
Teresa suddenly remembered that the house where her sister lived was bought by her brother-in-law before they got married and that the loan was paid by her brother-in-law, but the decoration cost was paid by her sister. However, her brother-in-law had not added her sister's name to the property certificate. Teresa felt worried after recalling that her brother-in-law always accused her sister of only spending money but not making money.
She thought she was supposed to remind her sister of that as soon as possible.
After dinner, Teresa and Gwendolyn took turns to take a lunch break.
In the evening, the shops in front of the school were very busy.
Teresa didn't close the bookshop until 11:00 p.m.
Gwendolyn's home was very close to the bookshop. In the evening, her relatives invited her to dinner, so Teresa asked her to go home first.
After closing the bookshop, Teresa took out the key from her trousers pocket and walked to her electric scooter.
"Hey, Teresa, go home?"
Mrs. Rodriguez of the grocery store next door greeted her with a smile.
"Yes, I'm going home, Mrs. Rodriguez. Why haven't you closed your store yet?"
"I live in the store, so I don't close it at a set time. It's late at night. Be careful on your way. You are a beautiful and young girl. Hope you'll have a boyfriend earlier. It will be much safer if he picks you up at night."
Teresa got on her electric scooter and responded with a smile, "I've learned kick-boxing before, so I'm not afraid."
For so many years, she had met a few gangsters who tried to stop her on the way home because they thought she was young, beautiful and alone, but she beat them up and taught them a severe lesson every time.
Gradually, those punks knew that she was not a girl whom they could mess with, and no one dared to stop her anymore.
Teresa, watched by Mrs. Rodriguez, rode away on the electric scooter.
"Teresa is really a good girl. It's a pity that my son is too young to marry her."
Mrs. Rodriguez said that sadly.
When being about to move the goods placed at the door into the store, Mrs. Rodriguez's husband heard her words and said with a smile, "By reading Teresa's face, I think she definitely will be rich and noble. She will marry a wealthy man. Our family is not worthy of her."
"Come on! You just read a few books about face reading. You think you are an expert in it now? If you really can read people's face, tell me when I will become rich!"
The grocery store they ran at the gate of the school sold daily necessities. Only when new terms began, they could sell a lot of goods. At other times, they didn't earn a lot and their profit was not as much as that of the bookshop.
But the profit was enough to feed their family.
"Are you sure Teresa can marry into a rich family with her family background? I don't look down on her. But people with different backgrounds have different interpersonal circles. She doesn't even have the opportunity to know the real rich people, let alone marry into a rich family."
Teresa's hometown was a village in a town under the jurisdiction of Watenll City. Her parents had been dead for years, leaving her and her sister. Although Teresa's income was high, Mrs. Rodriguez thought she could marry into a relatively well-off family at most. It was impossible for her to marry into a very rich family!
"Let's stop talking about that."
"Okay, fine."
Teresa didn't know that after she left, Mrs. Rodriguez and Mr. Rodriguez argued about her. She rode her scooter and spent more than twenty minutes to get downstairs to her sister's house. After parking the scooter, she remembered that she had moved to a new house.
Looking up at the floor where her sister's house was located, Teresa felt a little frustrated when seeing that the light was not on. After standing still for a while, she chose not to bother her siste and rode away on the scooter.
