Chapter 41
Betty typed. "What?"
"Is your husband a pervert? Did he learn from the Alpha in the novel? Has he locked you up?"
"Sorry, I think he's bossy but charming..."
Diana typed. "What do you mean?"
Betty withdrew the message.
Betty typed. "But he just locked the door. Can't you get to the underground parking lot by elevator? You can go out through the parking lot. I once saw the news online that the parking lot in Moonshadow Mansion is like a luxurious car exhibition."
Diana typed. "My house is in the center of an islet in the lake. Do you think there could be a luxurious car exhibition under the lake?"
Betty was stunned.
She typed. "Why don't you try to make the sheets into a long strip and climb down from the balcony on the second floor?"
Diana was speechless.
It was so hard to communicate with Betty.
Fortunately, Bonnie was sensible. Subconsciously, Bonnie suggested that Diana should get a professional locksmith to unlock the door.
However, the house in Moonshadow Mansion was equipped with an intelligent security system. If someone opened the door by force, the alarm would ring immediately, and security guards would come here soon.
If Diana had to go out, there was a way. After walking back and forth in the living room for a while, Diana looked at the four-grid window in the south.
.......
Josh had an important party in AirPark this day.
Inconspicuous ancient plaques were hung in the alleys, but there was a different world behind the dark color door.
When he went out in the morning, the sky was gloomy, and it was raining heavily. By noon, it began to drizzle.
Josh and others were sitting in the pavilion and drinking tea.
He was going to meet Devin Baker, one of the investors of the South Bay Project carried out by the Hunter family and the Swift family.
Devin was born in the south. He went to another city when he was young and never returned home.
His wife was also born in the south. She was a typical southern lady. She was smart and gentle, and she spoke tenderly and softly.
They had got married for more than twenty years, and their deep affection was well-known. Devin even mentioned his wife and children from time to time while talking about business.
Seeing the wedding ring on Josh's finger, Devin smiled and reminded Josh, "In fact, you young people don't have to be too busy with work. The money you can make is endless, and you can't take the money with you when you die. When you have time, accompany your family, take a walk with them, and talk to them. In this way, you can settle your nerves."
Devin tapped his temple lightly, smiled, and sipped his tea.
Josh didn't reply to him, but he also picked up his teacup and took a sip.
From the corner of his eye, he saw Sam raise his hand to cover his lips and mouth something. Josh put down the cup, looked in the direction of the bathroom, and nodded apologetically, "Excuse me."
Devin signalled him to do as he wished.
Josh got up and walked along the corridor to the bathroom. Drops of rain fell from the eave. Sam followed him quietly.
There was no one else around him, so Josh stopped and asked, "What's the matter?"
Sam lowered his head, went forward, and whispered a few words in Josh's ear.
Josh paused for a moment and looked back at Sam.
Sam's heart was bitter. He did not dare to look up at all.
If he had a choice, he didn't want to inform Josh of such a terrible thing.
Diana had run away through the window, but the bodyguards outside the house didn't notice it. They didn't find out that Diana was missing until the Swift family came to persuade her.
What the hell was going on?
It seemed that dramatic things were more likely to happen in rich families. Sam had been working for Josh for a long time, and he had experienced a lot. However, it was the first time he had seen Josh lock someone up.
Josh was silent, and Sam reported again in a low voice, "The two ladies in the Swift family have returned home. Everyone in the Swift family has known about this matter. They will go to Luxury Bridge tonight."
Josh said, "Umm."
Sam said again, "Mrs. Hunter didn't bring anything except her phone, ID card, and umbrella. Mr. Swift has informed Cedar Department and Mrs. Hunter's good friends... Therefore, it was Miss Smith who took her in. Miss Smith asked for leave from the magazine an hour ago. Now she and Mr. Hunter are in Star Park. What do you want to do?"
Josh captured the keywords and asked, "Did she only take away her phone and ID card?"
Sam replied, "Yes." He suddenly remembered something and said after thinking twice, "I saw these two things in the surveillance video. The passport and marriage certificate should still be there."
Josh raised his hand and motioned for Sam to stop. His eyes were slightly gloomy. He didn't sleep well last night, so his voice was low and hoarse as he said, "Don't care about this now."
Sam nodded and didn't say anything else.
Josh didn't sleep all last night. All he thought about was Diana.
He thought about the scenes when Diana made a fool of herself in front of him, when she twirled in a beautiful dress, when she was shy in bed, and when she cried sadly... He forced himself to think about work, but he couldn't get Diana out of his head.
In fact, reason always told him that he didn't do anything wrong. Diana was acting unreasonably because she failed to deal with her personal grievances against Mandy.
But as long as he thought of Diana's complaint, he felt he seemed to have done something wrong, and he was ridiculously wrong.
At dawn, he went to the kitchen to wash rice and cook porridge. Originally, he wanted to cook pork ribs, but there was no pork rib at home.
While cooking the porridge, he stood in front of the stove and wrote a text message.
He wrote the message for ten minutes, deleting what he had typed, and kept changing his words. In the end, he thought about something, deleted all the words typed, and threw the phone aside.
Later, when he went out, he locked the door subconsciously. He didn't think a door closed could stop Diana, but he didn't expect that she could climb the window to run away from home. How childish she was!
......
There were three embarrassing things in Diana's life. She went into the male's bathroom by mistake and couldn't go out. She scolded someone behind his back but got caught. She gave the condoms to a strange man. However, all these things were not as embarrassing as what happened this day. It was rainy, and she looked like a refugee after climbing over the window to run away from home.
After leaving Moonshadow Mansion through the window, she held a delicate floral umbrella on the roadside and waited for a taxi.
However, she was favoured in daily life, and a driver would pick her up no matter where she was, so she didn't think about ordering a uber online. After waiting for more than half an hour, she didn't see any taxi. Only then did she realize that she had to order a uber online.
She studied how to use this app for ten minutes, and a driver finally took her order. However, there was something wrong with her location. She explained to the driver for five minutes in the wind and rain. The driver was impatient. He spat, hung up the phone, and cancelled the order unilaterally.
Diana was pissed off, and it was raining heavily. If Bonnie didn't receive her message and come to pick her up in time, she would have gone back to the house through the window and waited for the rain to stop.
Bonnie took Diana back to Star Park, and Diana took a bath first. When she came out of the bathroom, she smelled so fragrant, and the air around her was moist. She felt that she had come back to life again. Although there was no air filter in the house, she felt the air was so fresh.
Seeing how pitiful Diana was, Bonnie had sympathy for her. Therefore, she plugged in the hair dryer and dried Diana's hair for her.
Diana took Bonnie's kindness for granted. She sat at the dressing table and fiddled with Bonnie's skin care product, complaining about Josh and the driver.
Bonnie was a career woman, and she wasn't born to be rich. Therefore, she thought about things more realistically than Diana and Betty.
She knew that Diana's marriage got involved too many interests, and Diana couldn't divorce with Josh at will, so she didn't talk about the divorce. She just asked, "What are you going to do?"
Diana was confused. "What?"
Bonnie was speechless for a moment. She fiddled with Diana's hair and persuaded Diana patiently, "You can stay here as much time as you want. However, as you said, you think Josh never respects you. Even your family and Josh's friends don't show you much respect. So, have you ever thought about how to win the respect of others while building your own career?"
Seeing Diana's puzzled face, Bonnie said again, "Forget it. I won't talk about these long-term issues with you. I just want to ask you one thing. Now you don't want to use Josh's money, and your Uncle Edward is determined to force you to go home by cutting your financial resources off. How can you support yourself? How many days can you live with the money transferred by Betty?"
Diana was silent for a long time. Then she turned to look at Bonnie innocently.
Bonnie suddenly had a premonition. She asked, "Do you want me to support you?"
Diana nodded adorably.
Bonnie felt so helpless that she was incoherent. "Well, I... Don't you know how much money I earn every month?"
She had been working hard in P City these years, and bought this small apartment and the Beetle had drained all her savings.
After she was promoted to associate editor, she had to transfer part of her monthly salary to her parents, and she needed to pay for her daily expenses. Besides, as the associate editor of a fashion magazine, she had to use part of her salary to buy ornaments and clothes to maintain her glamour. She thought about it carefully and found that she didn't have much money left every month.
In fact, she had no trouble feeding Diana. However, Diana would spend a large sum of money whenever she went to the mall. How could she support Diana? Sell her blood? She couldn't even support Diana by selling her blood!
But Diana was optimistic. She held her cheeks with both hands and casually said, "It seems that they'll pay me because I participated in the programme. I'm not sure whether they've paid me or not. Alas, don't worry. I won't spend lavishly."
Years of experience in the workplace made Bonnie prudent. She looked at Diana suspiciously and didn't really rest assured.
Bonnie's apartment was forty square meters in area, but it was four point five meters in height. She decorated it into a maisonette, so the usable area was nearly sixty square meters. According to reason, it was enough for two girls to live.
However, Diana was used to living in Moonshadow Mansion and Cedar Department. When she first came to this small apartment, she might feel it funny. After staying here for a while, she felt the apartment was too small.
When her embarrassment of escaping through the window subsided, she was full of finicky airs again. "Do you only have skin toner of this brand?"
Bonnie was speechless.
She asked, "Can't you use the moisturizing water of this brand?"
Diana said, "Oh, I am just asking. But I think the moisturizing water I've been using is better."
Finishing daily skin care process, Diana chose perfume on the perfume shelf.
Bonnie had nearly a hundred bottles of perfume. To be honest, she could use these perfumes until the end of her life. But Diana liked none of them. After all, since she was eighteen years old, she had been using perfumes made to order.
Facts proved that Bonnie's premonition was very accurate. In the next few hours, she had been listening to Diana's picky words.
"Why isn't your carpet made of wool? Forget it. I'll buy one right now."
"I think you should at least install an air cleaning system in your house. The air in P City is likely to cause cancer."
"How can you bear to drink the coffee made by capsule coffee machine? Oh my God! I can't stand you anymore. Wait. I'll buy you a new coffee machine."
"No! The projection screen makes my eyes so sour. Is there no stereo in your house? The sound effect is so bad. You have joined the membership of the movie website in vain."
......
Finally, it was time to sleep. Bonnie was mentally and physically exhausted, but Diana couldn't fall asleep.
At two o'clock in the morning, she suddenly sat up from the bed and pushed Bonnie.
Bonnie was so sleepy that her voice was slurred. "What's wrong?"
Diana said seriously, "I've thought about it for a long time. I think you should work hard and become the editor-in-chief as soon as possible. Then you can buy a bigger house. At least, your neighbors wouldn't be so rude."
She pointed to the ceiling.
Bonnie was too sleepy. She concentrated on listening for a long time before she heard the slight noise upstairs. A man and a woman were having sex upstairs.
She was too drowsy to open her eyes, so she buried her head in the pillow and said feebly, "I've thought about it for a long time, too. I think there must be some misunderstanding between you and Josh."
