Chapter 156 To Beat the Dog Is to Bully Its Owner

Chapter 156 To Beat the Dog Is to Bully Its Owner
Both Darren and his friend were sitting at the side. They held their breaths in silence. Edward looked at the remaining first half of the bottle and threw it away in disgust. The female PRs beside him were so frightened that they did not dare to move. But Amy was the only one who acted and took out a tissue paper quickly. She then leaned forward and handed it to Edward.
Edward lowered his eyes and wiped at his hands. He then said lightly, "Call Ken."
He meant that for James. James felt dizzy from being smashed by the bottle of wine. He held the table. Only then was he able to keep his balance forcefully. Hearing that, he said with a very low voice, "I was wrong..."
Edward did not even look at him. He sounded aloof. "Ask him to come and pick you up. Don't you want to leave?"
In the meantime, he casually picked up a bottle of champagne that was still unopened on the table. James' head was bleeding. He instinctively retreated. His eyes were filled with fear and vigilance.
He knew very well that Ken would give him a hard time if he learned of that incident. But in comparison with Ken, Edward, who was in front of him, was more frightening.
James tried his best to stay further away from Edward. He then took out his phone and made a call. The phone was connected. After a while, someone said, "Hello."
James was between laughter and tears when he heard Ken's voice. He quickly said, "Ken, come to Redmoon Club now."
Ken asked, "What's wrong?"
James peeked at the sofa opposite him secretly. He lowered his voice and said, "Edward is here, too."
Hearing that, Ken was soon enlightened. He asked about the room number before he hung up the call.
Edward tilted his head and looked to his right. He remained composed. "Darren, take your friend to the next room. I'll go to you guys when I'm done here."
Both Darren and his friend felt like they had been shown great mercy. They were eager to get out of that trouble spot. So, they quickly got up.
Edward then said to the female PRs, "You guys can go, too."
Amy was used to discerning one's thoughts from one's behavior. She got up and said, "I'll take care of it."
She took them away. Soon the private room became deserted with only Edward and James left.
James could feel his goosebumps. He wiped away the blood that flowed down his head. He also did not dare to sit there like a boss. He got up and stood in front of Edward obediently. Lowering his head, he said, "Mr. Smith, I was wrong. I had a few drinks this noon, and I said nonsense. I know that Jane is your private tutor. How would I dare to do anything to her?"
Edward lit a cigarette and leaned backward. He said calmly, "One may never say things that they think of. But since you said that, you must have thought of it. I know that you don't dare to do anything to her, but you thought of it."
He could not even think of it.
James found that his forehead was very itchy. He could not tell if it was blood or sweat, and he did not dare to act rashly and wipe it away. Hence, he could only brace himself and said, "I spoke rashly, and I said nonsense after I was drunk. I didn't think that way, and I don't dare to do so either. I guarantee that I'll never say nonsense again."
Edward said with a faint voice, "You don't dare to do so, because you've got no one on your side. If Ken allows you to do so, will you do that?"
James was completely stunned. He did not know why Edward raised such a question. He was very nervous, so much so that he could hear his loud heartbeat. He shook his head and said honestly, "Ken won't let anyone do anything to Jane."
Edward asked, "Are you him? Do you know what his thoughts are?"
James said the same thing. "Ken really won't let anyone do anything to Jane."
Edward said, "We're alone here. I'll give you a chance. If you tell me that this is Ken's idea, I won't make things difficult for you. There's no hatred without cause."
James was forced down a dead end. Edward was making a misrepresentation purposely. If James bowed down and admitted to his defeat, it was no different than framing Ken. It was fine if he framed others. But if he framed Ken, he would be courting death.

He shook his head and denied it. "Ken has nothing to do with it. I made the decision myself."
Edward's voice was very cold. "Do you want to take the blame?"
James felt like getting down on his knees in front of Edward. Lowering his head, he said, "Mr. Smith, I know I'm wrong. I'll always stay far away from Jane. I won't do anything to her, let alone have anything to do with her."
Edward smoked quietly. He was in no rush to make a reply. James harbored some resentment in his heart. Why was there such a coincidence? He talked nonsense briefly, but now he was paying a heavy price for it.
After Edward finished smoking, he threw the cigarette butt into the bottle of wine. He then handed it to James. James instinctively retreated for fear that Edward might smash him with it.
Edward wore no expression. He was still holding the bottle of wine.
James was enlightened. He accepted it with a stiff arm and leaned backward to gulp it down. The whole bottle of red wine was mixed with a weird taste. He did not know when he would taste the cigarette butt, but he did not dare to stop drinking it.
It was hard to gulp down a whole bottle of water, let alone wine. After drinking the second bottle of wine, James felt that his stomach was bloated. He finally finished the wine. Holding the bottle of wine, he peeked at Edward secretly.
Edward remained calm. He just spat out two words. "Finish it."
Since he had to finish it, then nothing could be left in the bottle. James felt lucky when the cigarette butt did not fall out. But now his heart was filled with bitterness.
If Edward wanted to mess with someone, he could give that person a very hard time.
James did not dare to say anything more. He lifted the bottle and poured it into his mouth. But the cigarette butt was stuck at the bottleneck. It did not fall out no matter what.
After several failed attempts, Edward seemed to have lost his patience. "Are you a pig?"
James was very scared. He saw Ken messing with others in the past. But he had never watched Edward do that. As an onlooker, it was very fun to look at. But as a party involved, it was very horrible and excruciating.
He did not dare to resist, but he was smart. He knew very well what Edward wanted.
Holding the empty bottle of wine, James stood on the spot. After preparing himself for a few seconds, he suddenly raised his hand. With a bang, the bottle was smashed into pieces on his head. He closed his eyes tightly. Sitting across from him, Edward was not surprised at all.
The door of the private room was opened. A tall figure stood there against the light. One could not see his face.
He then walked into the room and stretched his hand out to look for the switch on the wall. The small lamps were lit up all around. At the same time, it shone on Edward, who was sitting on the sofa, and Ken, who was standing at the door.
Ken went there alone. When he saw the scene before him, he could not help smiling. He then snorted and said, "Who didn't guard his wild dog well? And it ran out to bite people recklessly?"
Edward said, "I asked you to come and claim it. See if it's your dog."
As he was walking forward, he said, "Hey! A wild dog can talk like a human."
Edward said, "Dogs are generally very good. They'll come when they're called."
In the short distance of several feet, both of them mocked each other. When Ken came to the tea table, he sat down across from Edward. James' face was pale. It made a great contrast with his red, bloody head. He was at a loss for words, and he knew that there was nothing to say.
Edward said, "Don't play dumb with me. I asked you to finish it."
James looked down and saw the cigarette butt that fell on the tea table. He was hesitant as to whether he should pick it up.
Ken said, "Edward, are you out of your mind?"
Edward's countenance was filled with coldness. He replied with a deep voice, "Ask your dog. Should I deal with him?"
Ken knew very well that Edward was not a person who did something evil behind the scenes. Besides, he did not have to show off his strength to warn him or lure him out. On the contrary, James must have offended him.
Ken tilted his head slightly and looked at James, waiting for a reply from him.
