Chapter 105 Questioning Her to Her Face

Chapter 105 Questioning Her to Her Face
Beth had a hot temper. Edward had just found the evidence pointing to her assistant, but she couldn't stand it and had almost gone crazy so that she vented all her anger on Jane. She firmly believed that Jane was the leaker, and she thought that it was Jane who had egged Edward on to investigate her and that Edward and she had not been like this before the appearance of Jane.
She wanted to ask someone to investigate Jane, Ken, and Aiden, but no one in the circle of private detectives dared to take the job. In the beginning, she thought that they were afraid of Ken and Aiden, but after inquiring about the detail, she learned that Edward had given the word: Anyone who dared to investigate Jane shall wait and receive their burial fee.
In this era, people could do almost everything if they had enough money, but they knew a popular saying: "The most painful thing in life is that one has money but is already dead." They wanted money, but they couldn't lose their lives.
Grumpy and also angry with Edward, she hired someone from another place to investigate. She would never give up until she found the proof of Jane's guilt.
Edward knew what she was doing. Therefore, as soon as she had sent people to watch Jane, Edward's men took them and broke their arms or legs. When facing those who unwisely resisted, they beat them hard and sent them to the ICU.
Of course, ordinary citizens knew nothing about these things, but the upper class of S City knew all secrets. Instantly, they all learned that Edward had beaten the stalkers for a woman and that Beth, the "wife" who had been trying to fawn on him over the years, was about to humiliatingly make room for the new one.
The more Beth wanted to humiliate Jane, the more carefully Edward protected her. He not only protected Jane but also humiliated Beth in turn. Beth was so angry that she couldn't sleep all night for days. She tried sleeping pills and drank red wine, even a step away from putting the pills into the wine because she had taken the matter to heart.
She was confused about one thing: Couldn't Edward see that she was sincere and nice to him? Was he blind?
Linda Perez was at a friend's birthday party. What could a group of women in their 20s do when sitting together? They would either chat about men or jewelry. Recently, they got a new hot topic: Edward and Beth.
One said, "Beth is really hateful. Because of her father, an official, she is so arrogant and doesn't seem to take anyone seriously. She curries favor with Edward all day long, but unfortunately, Edward doesn't care about it."
Another one commented sarcastically, "Does it have anything to do with not caring about it? It is said that their relationship is now so bad because of Edward's tutor. Apparently, Edward is protecting the tutor, a step away from slapping Beth in her presence."
"Huh, she made herself a laughingstock. Look at her proud face! Which man would like her?"
"Is Edward serious to the tutor?"
As soon as the woman finished speaking, a companion beside her nudged her. She looked in the direction her companion was looking and saw Linda Perez with exquisite makeup sitting opposite her. Although Linda didn't look at her, her expressionless face had explained everything.
Seeing it, the woman immediately said with a flattering smile, "I don't know about the details. I just asked the question out of curiosity."
Stroking the goblet's stick with her right hand, Linda looked at the red wine in the goblet. She picked it up and drank, and then she said in a nonchalant tone, "Something is wrong with Beth Brown's brain. Obviously, the whole S City knows that her love for Edward is one-sided, but she, who has been doing it for so long, truly believes that they both love each other, stubbornly labeling herself as his official girlfriend. She intervenes in almost everything he does, and she even wants to tell him what kind of tutor he should hire?"
Someone asked, "It was really because of the tutor that they squabbled?"

Linda said calmly, "The tutor was but an excuse. Something happened in Edward's company recently. Someone might have leaked the company's secret. Beth suspects the tutor, but Edward suspects her."
This was big news. In an instant, the whole table fell silent. They gave up on the common topics like a boyfriend having a lover and the rings the size of pigeon eggs that were worth millions and stared unblinkingly at Linda, waiting for her to reveal more secrets.
Linda closed her mouth after pointing it out, but the listeners' blood froze after hearing it.
"Was Beth insane? She dared to be a leaker?"
"It is possible that she bears hatred because of love."
"If she truly entrapped Edward for the sake of framing Jane, then I really don't know whether I should say I admire her or I think she's an idiot."
"Who knows! Maybe she thought her plan was perfect, but she didn't expect herself to be dragged in."
These women held different views. Someone looked at Linda and ask, "What is your opinion, Linda?"
"What are you referring to?" Linda asked calmly.
"Who do you think is the leaker, Jane or Beth?"
"No matter who the leaker is, it is not important. The point is that one can help him at a critical moment. Unfortunately, Edward is not short of money, or I will give him the amount he needs. At such a time, she only thinks about defeating her rival, so she deserves to end up with a poor fate."
"Look, look at Linda's vision and mind! She's tens of thousands of times better than Beth Brown."
"Yeah, Edward is so rich! Not to mention this life, he wouldn't go bankrupt even in his afterlife. Otherwise, Linda would go help out and marry him!"
These people were used to saying the words Linda liked to hear. They always put Edward and her together. Actually, they all knew that Linda was not so much better than Beth, and she also wanted to be Edward's woman but couldn't get him. In this case, they both had the same fate, but Linda knew where she stood. Besides, she was Vincent Perez's relative. Therefore, she had a closer relationship with Edward than others.
But Beth had a miserable fate. She had to do everything with all her own power, but she ended up being suspected by Edward. Anyone would sigh once thinking about it.
...
Beth had not expected Edward to contact her. Although he only asked his assistant to call her, she thought that she had won. At least, he offered her an excuse to break the ice between them.
The assistant said that he asked her to go to the company. She carefully dressed up and went out. All the way, she thought that if he showed her a good attitude, she would think about forgiving him.
When she arrived at the company, pushing open the office door and looking up, she saw Edward and a stranger with glasses. She was surprised for a second, but then she became calm. Edward was sitting behind the office desk, his face peaceful.
"What did you call me for?" Beth asked while walking.
"Sit down," Edward said.
He was exceptionally polite, but Beth thought that something was wrong. She pulled the guest chair to her and sat in. Before she could say anything, the man with glasses said, "I'm Mae Moore's boyfriend."
Mae Moore was Beth's secondary assistant. Beth looked at Edward without blinking.
But Edward didn't look at her, but fixed his eyes somewhere else. From time to time, he would flick the cigarette ashes.
In the quiet office, the man with glasses said directly, "Mae has broken up with me. When I was away, she took away all her things in our home."
Beth knitted her eyebrows and said, "Why did you tell me this? Even their parents can't decide on the employees' personal affairs. Do you want me, the boss, to help rebuild your relationship with her?"
The man fell silent. Edward pressed his cigarette butt against the ashtray and looked up, saying, "You deposited 75,800 dollars into Mae's account half a month ago."
"She did a good job in her work, and the company gave her a bonus. What's wrong with that?" Beth's eyes became vigilant.
"What was it?" Edward pressed.
"What do you mean?" Beth became unhappy and asked.
"Your secondary assist, the girlfriend of one of my company's main game developers, mailed a USB disk to Oriental Journey, and then you put 75,800 dollars into her account. Later on, Oriental Journey was the first to release a game. Tell me what I mean."
