Chapter 74 Three Villains Compete to Get the Lady
That was a simple-style black pen. Ken was a little surprised when seeing it, but he took it with a smile all the same. Jane reminded him, "Don't press the pen cap."
Ken glanced at the ordinary pen cap and had suspicions in his eyes. "What's wrong with the pen cap?"
"If you press it, you'll feel the electricity from under," Jane answered.
Ken might not understand it, or he was too curious. He pressed the pen cap and touched the bottom of the pen with the other hand.
"Ah!"
When Jane saw that he quickly withdrew his right hand after the electric shock, her little white face turned even whiter. Then, he looked at her in shock.
"I said you would feel the electricity," Jane said with a speechless expression.
Standing his ground, Ken could still feel the electric shock effect from his scalp, not daring to recall the instantaneous needle-piercing pain. He asked in a daze, "Why is this a live electric pen?"
"It's an anti-wolf tool," Jane answered.
This was a classic one from Amazon, selling at 28.9 dollars for everyone buying it.
Ken was silent for more than five whole seconds. As if he had finally realized it, he said without blinking, "You usually bring an anti-wolf tool with you?"
Jane nodded. There was also a switchblade looking like a melodica in her handbag! But it seemed that it would bring bad luck if she gave him a knife on his birthday, so she gave him the pen.
But Ken put on a smile all the same.
"Nowadays, men should also be alert when going out. Of course, I hope you never use it, but it's wise to be prepared for the unexpected."
"Fortunately, I didn't do anything to you," Ken said in a seemingly joking and serious tone.
Jane didn't say anything, but he said with a smile, "Go in and cut the cake."
The two of them went into the private room together, and the people around the table watched them intentionally or unintentionally. Ken walked to the cake and asked, "Where's the knife?"
"Cut it now?" someone asked at once.
"My sister has something to do. She'll be sent away after eating the cake."
Everyone stood up, but a woman took a photo of Ken and Jane standing together by making use of the chaos and sent it to Amy Young on WhatsApp.
Coincidentally, the woman also had shown up at Vincent Perez's birthday party last time. Therefore, she had been watching Jane since she appeared, and she also had told Amy as soon as she saw her.
Soon after the photo was sent, Amy Young replied: "Take a photo that doesn't show them so obviously, then share it on your WhatsApp."
The woman replied: "Okay."
There was more than one female publicist present. The woman also pulled a companion to her, saying that this was a selfie, but in fact, the background was Ken and Jane-he was passing a piece of cake to her.
After that, the woman shared it on her WhatsApp with the title: "Eat the cake!"
In the era where any secret would almost be exposed when people had more than three mutual "friends", it could be imagined how many people would browse and spread this photo in a short time. The female PR staff all had wide-ranging relationships. Jane had been in S City for two months, and a lot of people had met her. Soon the photo, after having been passed from hand to hand, came to Vincent.
In an independent pool table room, Vincent was holding a pool cue in one hand and his mobile phone in the other. He zoomed in and ignoring the female publicists' faces, looked at the man and woman in the background: Ken and Jane.
Two clicks were heard. They were the sounds of a ball falling into the pocket. Edward Smith bent his back, aimed at a ball, and nimbly hit it, but his strength was slightly too strong. The ball circled around the hole and bounced back. He stood straight with a cool expression and said, "Did someone send you a woman's nude photo so that you even wished to go into it?"
Vincent passed his mobile phone to Edward, but the latter didn't even look at it. "I'm afraid of getting sores."
"Not nude," Vincent said.
Edward took it and saw a photo that had been zoomed in on the screen. At first sight, he saw Jane, who was dressed in a white blouse. She liked to wear blouses very much. He had met her so many times, but he found that although she changed the color of her clothing, she had basically never changed her style.
When he saw Jane, he could not help but check who was standing next to her. Today was August 10. Everyone in the circle knew that today was Ken's birthday. A lot of people wanted to fawn on him during normal times, and his birthday party could most clearly show his relationships with others. No doubt, those who could appear at his birthday party must be his loyal friends.
Jane had just been in S City for two months. Was it fair to say that she was really quick or she closely guarded her secrets...
While powdering his pool cue, Vincent asked emotionlessly, "What is your opinion?"
He bent down to hit the ball, and the ball entered the pocket. Opposite him, Edward put down his mobile phone without changing color and coolly said, "It's none of my business."
"She has gone to Ken's birthday party, but you don't want to tell her what she shouldn't do?" Vincent said.
"She has legs. How could I tell her where she should go and where she shouldn't?" Edward refuted.
Vincent bent down again, and another ball fell into the pocket. Raising his eyelids, he said with a faint smile, "You're faking being calm. This is not your style."
"Don't defy me to instigate me," Edward replied with ironic eyes.
"I'm telling the truth. You can tolerate the one around you keeping close ties with Ken Garcia? That's impossible."
"I reminded her," Edward said. But whether she listened to him or not was her business.
"That is even more unreasonable. If she doesn't know her wrongdoing, that's forgivable. She knows it, but she still did it. What does she want?"
"Don't give sarcastic and irresponsible remarks! If you could find a better tutor than her, replace her anytime."
"Your soft spot has been held?" Vincent chuckled.
Edward didn't show his attitude.
Vincent hit a third ball, but he failed to hole it. He stood up and said to Edward, "Call her."
Not looking at him, Edward said coolly, "If you want to call her, do it yourself."
Vincent didn't think it was a big deal. He immediately took out his mobile phone and called Jane.
Now Jane had just finished her cake. Ken walked her out of the private room and asked someone to drive her back to the city, and her mobile phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and answered the call, "Is that Mr. Perez?"
"Are you free now, Miss Cooper?" Vincent asked.
"Did you call me for something?" Jane asked.
"If it is convenient, let's have a meeting. I'm not alone. Edward is with me," Vincent answered.
Jane checked the time. It was not eight yet. When she got back to the city, it would be half past eight at most. "Okay, where are you both?"
"Where are you? I'll send a car to pick you up," Vincent said.
"I'm not in the city. If I go to you now, it might take about 40 minutes. You don't have to send a car."
Vincent told her the address, and she hung up the phone.
"Vincent Perez?" Ken asked.
"Yes."
Ken pretended to be unhappy. "He asked you to have an appointment, and you agreed so unhesitatingly. Today is my birthday, but you have been thinking about leaving since you came."
"Even if he didn't ask me to meet them, I would also leave," Jane replied quite logically.
Ken didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "You're really practical, and I feel so embarrassed."
"Happy birthday to you," Jane said seriously.
Ken was helpless, his eyes showing it. Then he said, "Okay, I'm happy. I'm very happy to have received your gift."
As they chatted, they reached the entrance of the small building. Ken called someone over and asked him to drive Jane back.
"Take out your mobile phone," he said.
Jane didn't move, but she looked at him vigilantly.
"Save my number to your phone. Tell me when you are there," Ken simply put.
Jane did the decent thing, saving his number. Standing his ground, Ken said with a small smile, "Go."
