Chapter 9
Yolanda embarrassed Aaron and didn't care about his feelings at all.
Aaron realized he had blamed Yolanda unjustly. To improve his relationship with Yolanda, he actively said, "After you." But Yolanda just ignored him.
She was irritated.
She didn't want to talk with Aaron.
Yolanda could get all she wanted in the past. There were numerous men in Darlington chasing her. But now Aaron took her goodwill for ill intent and also insulted her.
Yolanda could calmly accept the fact that she had been bankrupt and her boyfriend had been unfaithful to her.
But her self-esteem didn't allow her to bear such insults.
She wondered what Aaron thought of her.
She thought, "Did Aaron view me as a woman who wants to have a sexual relationship with him?"
On that night, Aaron was drunk and slept alone in the living room. Yolanda was afraid that he would be in danger, so she stayed by his side. To her surprise, Aaron thought she had ulterior motives.
For the first time, Yolanda wanted to give up her revenge on James. There was never an end to taking revenge. And it was better to get rid of enmity than keep it alive. Since James and his mistress loved each other, Yolanda decided to let them off.
Yolanda's father went bankrupt, but Yolanda still owned a house and a car. She could sell them and take her father to another city. They could start from scratch and have a peaceful life.
Yolanda didn't know why she forced herself to take revenge.
She knew that Aaron had never accepted her as his younger sister.
So when Aaron saw Yolanda lying beside him, he doubted her instead of inquiring about what had happened.
Yolanda stayed in her room all night.
At 7 o'clock the next morning, she thought that Aaron hadn't gotten up yet. She got out of bed after getting dressed and was about to use her wheelchair. But at that point, she decided to stand up and take two steps without the help of the wheelchair.
Yolanda's calf still hurt, but it became less swollen. She could walk slowly now.
She didn't use the wheelchair. She walked out of the room step by step, bracing her hands against the wall.
When Yolanda walked to the living room, she unexpectedly saw Ms. Twelve standing in the hallway with a suit jacket in her hand.
Aaron was in a suit and was putting on his shoes.
Yolanda felt surprised.
She wondered why Aaron went to work so early today.
Ms. Twelve didn't expect that Yolanda didn't use her wheelchair. "Don't hurry to walk on your own. You can continue to use the wheelchair. Don't get a secondary injury."
Yolanda glanced at Aaron and was still angry. She could use the excuse of being aggrieved to explain her actions last night. But if she still wore a poker face today, she was afraid of arousing doubts.
Thus, Yolanda immediately bit her lower lip and said in a low voice, "I worry that if I do something wrong next time, I will..."
She deliberately appeared pathetic and humble.
She hinted that she was frightened by Aaron and afraid of being kicked out of the house. So this little girl, who didn't even restore her memory, struggled to practice walking overnight.
Yolanda wanted to shame Aaron and angle for sympathy.
Just as Yolanda expected, even Ms. Twelve, who was always aloof, took pity on her. "Mr. Jensen doesn't mean to kick you out."
Ms. Twelve looked at Aaron subconsciously and hoped he could say something. But Aaron put on his shoes and left after taking the suit jacket out of Ms. Twelve's hand.
Soon, Yolanda heard the engine of the car roaring in the yard.
She thought Aaron's actions were unbelievable.
Since she had come to Aaron's house, she felt speechless many times.
Aaron directly ignored Yolanda, and Ms. Twelve was a little embarrassed. She took off her apron and changed the subject of conversation. "Yolanda, I have something to do and need to go out. I'll be back at noon. There is some food in the refrigerator. If you're hungry, go get it."
Yolanda was about to ask Ms. Twelve where she was going. But it suddenly occurred to her that...
If both Aaron and Ms. Twelve were out, wasn't it the best time for her to go to the hotel?
But another problem lay ahead.
Yolanda thought, "I can leave the house now easily. But how can I come back?"
She had no keys.
The hotel only agreed to reserve Yolanda's bag for a limited time. Now it almost reached the time limit. She didn't know whether there would be another opportunity in the future like today. So she couldn't miss the chance.
Besides, given Aaron's bad attitude toward her just now, she didn't care whether she could stay in his house or not.
If Yolanda could get back her passport smoothly, she decided to book a flight back to Darlington.
She made up her mind and borrowed some money from Phoebe through WhatsApp. After Ms. Twelve left, she hailed a taxi to the hotel.
Luckily, she met a warm-hearted driver. The driver not only helped Yolanda to get into the car but also helped fold her wheelchair.
After arriving at the hotel, Yolanda quickly made clear what she had come for. She was immediately sent to a VIP room.
"Please wait a moment. I'll fetch your bag now."
Yolanda nodded and sat quietly. Suddenly there came a voice, "Miss Walter?"
Yolanda was stunned and raised her head. She saw James' mistress who was named Flora Cohen.
As Yolanda expected, James also stood beside Flora.
Yolanda knew no one in Capital. So the only people who could recognize her in this hotel were Flora and James.
Flora walked up to Yolanda and looked at her up and down. Then she asked incredulously, "Why are you in a wheelchair? And what's wrong with your nose?"
Yolanda wanted to leave the hotel quickly after taking back her bag. So she ignored Flora and turned back.
But Flora didn't want to miss this opportunity to taunt Yolanda.
"We heard that your family went bankrupt. Don't commit suicide. You can ask James for help. I won't mind him helping you. James, am I right?"
Yolanda was silent.
She thought Flora was an angelic bitch.
"Help me?" Yolanda raised her eyebrows and smiled with contempt. "How can James help me? Don't you know how much money he owns? His payment for starring in a movie is not enough to buy a bag. Only you think highly of him."
James chuckled contemptuously.
He thought that Yolanda was stubborn and reluctant to admit her plight.
He shook his head. "Do you still think you are rich and noble? And should everyone humor and listen to you? Look at the way you are now. Yolanda, get real! Your family was bankrupt."
The worker came back with Yolanda's bag. "Miss Walter, please check the things inside."
Yolanda opened her bag and glanced at the things inside. Then she nodded with a smile. "Thank you."
She stared at James coldly. "My family went bankrupt. So what? I am still alive. I will have a more comfortable and happier life than you. I will also wait..."
She leaned forward and got close to James. "I can't wait to see a scum like you come to no good end."

Yolanda said in a low voice, but James was somewhat frightened. He calmed down quickly and smiled with disdain. "Well, then I wish you an early fulfillment of your dream."
Then James left with Flora. "Let's go."
How arrogant he was!
It was because he knew Yolanda's family had been bankrupt and thought she could never compete with him.
Yolanda thought James was unscrupulous.
The driver waited for Yolanda outside. She was still in a rage after she got in the car. The driver asked her, "Miss, where are you going?"
Yolanda said without hesitation, "Go to the airport."
While speaking, she opened her bag.
There was lipstick, hand cream, her wallet, her passport, and also a delicate velvet box in the bag.
Inside the box was a pair of cufflinks intended for James.
The cufflinks showed her love for James. But now, she felt it was ironic to look at them.
The cufflinks in the box reminded Yolanda of what James had said just now.
"Do you think you are still wealthy?"
"Get real! Your family was bankrupt."
"I hope you can get your wish early."
Yolanda gritted her teeth angrily.
She swore at James silently, "What a bastard!"
The car stopped as the traffic light turned red. Three seconds before the traffic light turned green, Yolanda closed her eyes and felt ambivalent. Finally, she said to the driver, "Sorry. Please return in the same way that you came."
Yolanda thought, "If I return to Darlington, James will certainly be smug."
"Didn't he hope my wish would be fulfilled as soon as possible? Just wait and see."
Yolanda was no longer dejected. She straightened up and asked the driver, "Is there a store for second-hand luxuries on the way back?"
Yolanda returned to the villa before 11 in the morning.
The door was closed, and Ms. Twelve hadn't come back.
It meant that Ms. Twelve would never know Yolanda had left the house before.
Yolanda controlled her wheelchair to move to the courtyard of the villa.
It was December now, and the weather was increasingly colder. Today was surprisingly sunny. It was comfortable to bask in the warm sunshine.
After Ms. Twelve came back, Yolanda would say that she had come to the courtyard to bask in the sun, but the door had blown closed.
Yolanda thought this excuse was perfect.
She closed her eyes and enjoyed the sunlight with peace of mind.
But unexpectedly, Ms. Twelve hadn't come back at dusk.
It got dark quickly in winter. And the weather was colder and colder over time.
Yolanda felt helpless.
She thought if she did something wrong, she would rather be scolded by Aaron than stay outside like now. She was cold and hungry. What was worse, it began to snow lightly.
Most importantly, she wanted to go to the toilet.
At 6:30 p.m., Aaron finished his meeting. Happer drove him to have dinner with a client.
On the way, Aaron asked Lenny, "Is there any information from the police station?"
Lenny shook his head. "No one has reported a woman missing recently."
Aaron thought in doubt, "It's unreasonable. Why didn't Yolanda's family report her missing?"
"Isn't she a local in Capital?"
Happer happened to talk about Yolanda. "Mr. Jensen, is Yolanda fine in your house? Does she want anything else? I bought her lots of things last time according to my daughter's preference. I don't know if she likes them."
Lenny coughed awkwardly.
However, Happer didn't know it was Aaron who had asked him to buy Yolanda these things. He took all the credit and continued to say, "Mr. Jensen, can I visit Yolanda this weekend? I drove and hit her by accident. So I want to cook her soup that is good for her health."
Aaron couldn't put up with Happer anymore and raised his head. "Do you think I will abuse her?"
Happer quickly shook his head. "Of course not. I know you are sharp-tongued but tender-hearted. Otherwise, you wouldn't take Yolanda back home. I just want to show my concern."
As soon as Happer finished speaking, his phone rang.
Happer was not allowed to answer the phone while driving, so he was about to decline the call. Surprisingly, he found Yolanda was calling him. He murmured in confusion.
"Why did Yolanda call me?"
Happer turned slightly sideways and asked, "Mr. Jensen, can I answer the phone? I'm afraid that something urgent has happened."
Aaron stared at the snow out of the window and said nothing.
Happer regarded Aaron's silence as approval, so he hurriedly answered the phone.
"Yolanda, what's the matter?"
Yolanda said weakly, "Uncle Happer, do you know Ms. Twelve's phone number?"
"Ms. Twelve?" Happer frowned and said, "I don't have her phone number. What's wrong? Are you looking for her? Isn't she at home?"
After a moment, Happer's eyes widened in surprise. He turned back and said hurriedly, "Mr. Jensen, Yolanda was shut out of the house. She almost freezes to death!"
Aaron was shocked.
At the door of the villa, Yolanda curled up and blew on her hands to warm them up.
In Korean dramas, she remembered the first snow was always beautiful and romantic.
One should be with the person one liked when the first snow came.
Yolanda thought, "Why am I so miserable? No one is at my side, let alone a man."
"It's cold. I want to slide under the covers to keep warm."
"I want a glass of hot milk."
"I want to... Forget it, I don't deserve to think about what I want."
It had been a while since Yolanda called Happer for help. She wasn't sure whether Aaron would come back. But based on Aaron's attitude yesterday and this morning, he was unlikely to do that.
Now, Yolanda's fate depended on Aaron.
Because it was very cold, Yolanda closed her eyes and tried to distract herself with her thoughts.
She suddenly felt there was a light in front of her.
She opened her eyes and found a beam of light lit up the snowy night. And a car drove towards the villa.
Finally, the car stopped at the door.
Someone got out of the car.
Yolanda thought, "Is that person Aaron?"
"Yes, indeed! It's Aaron!"
"He is actually kind!"
"He only appears to be heartless."
"Finally, he displays signs of tenderness."
"I should be more tolerant towards Aaron."
Yolanda, who was numb with cold before, was immediately in high spirits. She wanted to give Aaron a sweet smile and thank him for coming to save her from the cold. But on second thought...
It was a good opportunity to arouse Aaron's sympathy.
So she shouldn't smile at Aaron. Otherwise, Aaron might think she was happy to be in freezing conditions.
When Aaron was still 10 meters away from Yolanda, Yolanda changed her mind and quickly closed her eyes. She pretended to faint from the cold.
10 meters, 5 meters, 3 meters.
Yolanda could feel Aaron approaching step by step.
She was excited. She wondered whether Aaron would take off his coat and put it over her, or would directly carry her home to warm her up.
Aaron was getting closer and closer.
He finally stopped in front of Yolanda.
Yolanda held her breath, and her heart was racing with excitement.
She waited for a while. But what she had thought didn't happen.
She was vaguely conscious that Aaron put his finger under her nose.
She was stunned.
She thought, "I am still alive!"
