Chapter 20
Yolanda didn't expect the result after her painstaking preparation for of catching adultery with money.
The other woman did not show up, nor did the bastard, but James showed up.
Isn't he working overtime?
Why is he here?!
Aah! Aah!!!
Yolanda was going crazy.
Before James could turn back, she immediately pulled Phoebe around -
"Stop looking!"
Phoebe's voice was shaking: "God, didn't you say that Aaron is not interested in New Year's Eve? Isn't that him over there? Did I see it wrong?"
Yolanda was also rattled, thankfully keeping sober in the end:
She absolutely won't get involved in the embarrassing scene that Aaron and James showed up together.
She had to run away.
"Pheeb, go quickly. You run away first and leave me alone."
Yolanda wasn't sure what would happen then, but she didn't want to get Phoebe involved in. She had just been shortlisted for that project, and if she was disqualified for her own thing, she would be a sinner.
"Hurry up, I'll clean it up."
Phoebe: "Can you really do it?"
"Trust me. It will be more troublesome if you stay here. Go!"
Since Yolanda said so, Phoebe had to obey her: "When you go back, send me "1" if you are OK, then call me if you are not!"
As soon as finished speaking, Phoebe lowered her head and walked out of the restaurant.
Seeing all this, Aaron somehow found it amusing and chuckled, but still sat there.
Others also found something different and played jokes on him:
"Oh, your sister falls in love?"
"Look at her outfit. Is she 18?"
James, who had been ignored, turned back in the direction of the discussion.
Just less than15 meters in front of him, a gaudy-looking girl with two big braids turned her back on him.
James frowned and quickly thought to himself," Aaron has a sister?"
I've only heard of a big daughter from Jensen's family abroad but never heard of other sisters.
She could be a cousin. She looks young.
Somehow, James suddenly had some bold guesses.
"Mr. Jensen," he said on purpose," you need be more patient with girls in rebellious stage. I have a cousin who's very rebellious at her 18 or 19, and I spent a long time getting along with her. I have experience with that, so why don't I talk to her for you?"
Aaron stared at Yolanda, who was hunched like a quail in position, paused and said, "No."
After the toast was finally left, he walked towards Yolanda, held his coat with one hand, and pulled away Yolanda like a chicken by the collar of her back.
Yolanda: "..."
Other people: "... "
James looked at the back for a long time and said, "Mr. Jensen must really love this sister."
Looking at him, Bruce found something wrong and hinted softly: "Outsiders should not speculate too much about Mr. Jensen."
He was actually asking James not to come up with bad ideas.
But James didn't get it.
He returned to his position and told his broker in a low voice, "Aaron has a sister. Why haven't I heard of it?"
The broker was surprised: "Really?"
"I just saw her over there. The girl is only about 18. She seems rebellious and doesn't get along well with Aaron, but Aaron loves her."
When James finished, his broker responded, "So?"
"I've known so much about kids in rebellious stage who are hostile to their parents. You ask around to see if you can get a contact info for this sister, but make sure not to let Aaron known."
"What do you want to do?"
"Our contract wouldn't even promise me the center position. If I can handle his sister, we will be a family. Will I be afraid that I have no resources then?"
The broker thought for a moment, shaking his head: "Too bold. You can't play over Aaron."
"What do I play?" James made an exaggerated shrug," I'm just going to have a relationship with his loving sister. We like each other, so how can you call it "play"? I'm serious."
"Nonsense." The broker glanced at him: "Are you sure his sister will like you?"
James said proudly," I have fallen in love with the big lady from Thenoma Group. For this rebellious teenager, I can handle her in a week."
...
Yolanda was taken to the car by Aaron without a word.
He reached for the car, but Yolanda stopped him and behaved softly: "Brother, you've had wine. Let me drive."
Aaron did lose some of his mind.
He didn't speak but took the co-pilot instead.
Yolanda came to the driver's seat, fastened her seat belt and sneaked a glimpse of her brother.
A face so cold that it didn't even have any temperature was worse than any before.
Tonight may not be a storm, not an explosive cartridge...but the consequences even Yolanda could not predict.
Yolanda regretted so much.
She also saw, while working on Cielo Hotel strategy, that its manager was Bruce Webster, Aaron's best friend.
Why did she ignore it?
It must be the bastard's fault, so I made such a common-sense mistake.
On the way back to the villa, Aaron didn't speak a word, and kept his eyes closed all the time. Yolanda couldn't speak a word for herself after trying for several times.
How to explain?
She got caught lying. How to explain?
She told him she was doing a skin care when she cuddled with a "man" in a restaurant for a selfie. How to explain?
Yolanda's head was about to explode. She didn't know what to do for the first time.
No matter how smart she was, it was impossible for her to resolve today's tricky situation.
As the car pulled into the basement of the house, Yolanda unfastened her seatbelt and turned around to say something to Aaron, but he got off without a word.
Yolanda was stunned and bumped out of the car to follow him.
"Brother."
She pulled his sleeve: "Brother, listen to me."
Yolanda was a little nervous.
But Aaron did not respond, as if returning to the same state they had been on their first day at home.
As the elevator door opened, Aaron walked in directly, followed by Yolanda, "I just want to go out on New Year's Eve and don't want to work overtime, so......so..."
Yolanda couldn't go on with such a bad excuse.
Aaron had no response. When the elevator reached the second floor, he went straight out and ran into Ms. Twelve, who was cleaning in the stairwell.
"You're Back?" Ms. Twelve straightened up and said a word, and immediately realized something was wrong between the brother and sister.
One went ahead without an expression, the other followed trying to say something.
As soon as they arrived at the door of Aaron's room and he was about to go in, Yolanda finally couldn't stand, and stop him quickly:
"Brother, if you are angry, you can scold me. Don't shut up like that. I am sad."
Aaron paused and looked down at her: "You are sad?"
Yolanda nodded.
Ms. Twelve stood away from them with a vacuum cleaner.
"OK." Aaron asked directly: "Who is that person?"
Yolanda: "..."
However, she couldn't tell Phoebe's true identity. Once she exposed Phoebe, she would be exposed as well.
She was already wrong and was not afraid to be more wrong.
With her head lowered, Yolanda bit her lips and whispered: "My net friend."
"Net friend?"
"I know him through a function of WhatsApp..."As Yolanda said, her voice got lower and lower.
Aaron had subtle chest fluctuations.
He remembered that Yolanda played with her phone in the office, and then looked panicked when she saw him.
He remembered that she said she was going to lunch alone and to a beauty salon alone.
I see.
He was tolerating. He was controlling himself.
"Your phone."
Yolanda's scalp was numb. Why do you want to do with my phone?
But she had no time to think but hand it over.
Aaron already knew her password and opened her phone without a hitch: "Where is WhatsApp?"
Yolanda stood there stiffly and felt bad.
She was always on the alert. After chatting with Phoebe and Victor, she would delete the contents of their conversations immediately without leaving any evidence.
But today she and Ms. You had been following James all night. She can't remember what they had talked and whether she delete it in time.
"I am asking you where WhatsApp is." The man raised his voice.
Yolanda had never been so nervous and scared in her life.
Ms. Twelve also saw something wrong, and she brought the vacuum cleaner along: "Sir, talk to Yolanda well. Don't be so cruel, or you will scare her."
"She's not as timid as you think." Aaron said coldly," Don't want to tell me?"
It was just an app. Where could she hide it?
Mr. Jensen casually flipped over and found WhatsApp in a secret folder.
He opened it. There were two contacts except for himself, one of them was Happer's daughter Elsa Happer.
So, the other one with the dog as the profile was the man tonight.
Aaron opened their chat log directly.
Yolanda closed her eyes. Her head was heavy while her legs were soft, and her body felt tingling.
She began to wonder how she would be expelled later.
She'd be glad if he just left her with luggage.
She was afraid that he wouldn't let himself go easily.
Yolanda tried her best to calm herself down, but it was hard to calm down at this point.
Yolanda felt her heart beating into her throat, and only one look from Aaron was needed to leap out.
Aaron casually glanced at her conversation with the man and smiled coldly:
"You love the function and to ask others out?"
What?
Then I have deleted the conversation about James.
Yolanda temporarily withdrew a little from the tense to suffocating atmosphere, but still diligently answered: "No, I am just......bored in those days."
"When you're bored, you need a man to hang out with?"
"You're so busy at work every day. Isn't it normal that I have someone to play with? ...You're my brother, but you can't deny me the social right to make friends and be in love, can you? I'm an adult, brother."
The hallway was silent for a while, even Ms. Twelve consciously turned off the vacuum cleaner.
Suffocation, boredom, depression.
Yolanda felt as if she had said something wrong.
She couldn't breathe, much less look Aaron in the eyes.
Long after that, Aaron sneered: "Yeah, I forget you are an adult."
Yolanda: "..."
He returned the phone to Yolanda. "It doesn't matter. Keep doing it and ask more men out."
Yolanda: "..."
As soon as Aaron said it, he pushed her away and backed his room. The bang of the door was made, knocking Yolanda's back like a punch.
She felt cold sweat behind her back. She closed her eyes and then rushed to open the conversation log with Ms. Yu.
The good news was that all the records they spoke to before tonight have been delated.
The bad news was--
The only three messages left were the worst.
Yolanda: [Are you there?]
The Devil Without Heart: [On my way, five minutes later.]
Yolanda: [Quick, I can't wait! [look fierce]]
This was the message when Yolanda sent to Phoebe after she arrived at the hotel in the evening.
She can't wait.
Can't wait.
But what she can't wait was to beat the bastard instead of seeing the net friend.
She was not that hungry!
She was badly wronged.
Yolanda had the impulse to jump from upstairs.
Ms. Twelve pretended to clear out near Yolanda, glancing at her: "Have you made Mr. Jensen angry again?"
Yolanda thought he was not just angry.
When he was angry, he would lose temper on her and scold her.
But now, he even seemed to want not to talk to her.
Yolanda returned to her room next door disappointly.
Lying in bed for a long time, she felt somehow sad when she remembered Aaron's indifference towards her.
He turned a blind eye to her in the first place, and then he came to accept her gradually. She began to enter his life, and they lived together every day, to some extent --
Yolanda had really taken him as her half-brother, feeling the love from brother she lacked.
That's why she said that in the heat of the moment, which made him look angrier.
Apart from lying to him, she also said that he didn't have the right to take care of her.
Yolanda pulled her hair in a tiresome manner.
Why did she say like that?
She was so nervous that her words were completely illogical.
Yolanda lay down on her bed for a long time. When her phone rang, she was dumbfounded and turned over to look.
She thought it was from Aaron, but from Phoebe.
Phoebe had been worried after her return, but now she could not help sending a message: [1]
That was their code.
Yolanda lay back disappointedly and replied in low spirit: [I'm home.]
Phoebe: [OK. I am so scared that my legs are going soft.]
Yolanda: [But Aaron didn't talk to me... [Cry]]
Phoebe: [Why? How did you explain that?]
Yolanda told Phoebe the fake function: [I was almost found in Darlington with Victor before, and then it was Wendy, and now it is you. I think he probably thinks I am an ungrateful person and keep thinking of people outside.]
She paused and then went on:
[The point is, I even said he had no right to restrict me from making friends and having a relationship.]
[He said whatever and left.]
Phoebe sent several question mark emojis in a row: [The words are a little inappropriate. He treats himself as your guardian and offers your food and accommodation. Apart from asking me out, you asked him not to restrict your love. If I were him, I will be angry as well.]
Yolanda knew that too, sighing and asking: [What should I do now?]]
[Apologize! Tell him that it's your fault.]
Yolanda had thought about it but didn't know that this time...whether it would work.
Yolanda slept nervously the whole night. Early the next morning, she woke up at her usual office time.
Yolanda finished cleaning and went downstairs. Seeing Aaron had already sat at the table, she walked towards carefully," Good morning."
No reaction.
"Brother, do you want coffee?"
"Brother, I'll take your paper."
"Brother, I'll do it."
There were almost all one-sided conversations.
After eating this extremely cold breakfast, Yolanda took a bag and followed Aaron. Just after arriving at the hallway, his cold voice dropped:
"You stay at home. Don't follow me."
Yolanda: "..."
Aaron had not been so cold for a long time.
Yolanda knew that feeling. He was just like that when she came back from the hospital.
His whole body was against her appearance.
And now she felt that feeling again.
Out of nowhere, Yolanda was at a loss.
Her heart lost something, became empty and was enveloped in a bewilderment.
She stood at the door for a long time until Aaron's car drove far away. She still stood when she could not see the car at all.
"I haven't seen him like this in years. You're amazing." Ms. Twelve said calmly as she cleared the lawn and passed Yolanda.
Yolanda: "..."
The next day, two days, three days. The situation was the same.
In the new year, Aaron and Yolanda had little communication.
He went out early and returned late every day, and Yolanda could not even see him. He came back at 2 or 3 o 'clock at night for several nights and left at 6 or 7 o 'clock in the morning.
Yolanda felt that he didn't want to see her, so he didn't even want to go home.
Yolanda couldn't stand the atmosphere. She could not stand the fact that he accepted all her coquetry before, but now everything changed and fell to the freezing point.
This evening, she waited for Aaron's return until 11:00 at night.
Yolanda had never waited for anyone like this in her life.
She looked at her watch and decided not to wait hopelessly any longer.
If Aaron really doesn't want to talk to her, she can leave right now.
Stop the cold war. She couldn't stand it.
Yolanda called Happer immediately.
"Uncle Happer, is my brother with you?"
Happer didn't know what happened but answered honestly," The boss is at Fil's. I'm waiting for him downstairs."
"OK."
He was at the club.
At this moment, Yolanda became determined and brave somehow.
She put on her coat, changed her shoes, hailed a car and headed straight for Fil's.
This was a well-known high end entertainment club in Capital. Most of the visitors were from business and entertainment circles.
Yolanda was not a frequenter and had no one beside. She was stopped at the door.
So, she called Aaron, but no one answered.
Yolanda had no choice but found Happer.
Happer simply thought that Yolanda was just coming to visit his boss and did not know that their relationship had dropped to the freezing point recently, so he came from the parking lot.
He's Aaron's driver. Everyone here knew about him. Once he showed up, the waiter let Yolanda in.
"Mr. Jensen is in v3, this way please."
At last, Yolanda smoothly walks toward the compartment under the guidance of a waiter.
Yolanda was brave at home but became nervous as she was almost there.
As she walked, she took a deep breath and repeated the words she had prepared in her mind.
At the door of a super luxury compartment in the middle of the corridor, the waiter stopped and said, "Wait for a moment, Miss. I will go in to tell the boss."
Yolanda: "OK."
The door was slightly open, Yolanda quietly moved two steps and saw the scene in the compartment.
The compartment was very large, with several different types of wine bottles on the black coffee table. More than ten people were sitting on the sofa.
Aaron sat in the middle of a sofa, coat-less, his black shirt buttoned loosely, and his sleeves rolled up at random.
There was a woman beside him.
A very beautiful woman. She had seen her on TV, but she couldn't remember her name clearly.
The waiter walked over to whisper something to him. After heard of it, Aaron raised his head and looked out.
The woman also looked over with some kind of subtle scrutiny and inspection.
Yolanda had no time to recall who she was. She looked at Aaron eagerly.
This time she was sincere without any pretension. She hoped that he could feel it.
They looked at each other for a few seconds, Aaron the initiative to remove the sight.
He called Lenny and said something.
Lenny nodded and then went out.
Yolanda: Brother Lenny, may I come in? Or you call my brother out for two minutes. I just say a few words.
However, Lenny said:" The boss is busy. I have asked Happer to drive the car over, you go back first."
Yolanda eagerly opened her mouth: I just need two minutes."
Lenny was silent for a few seconds but then shook his head.
"..." Yolanda understood his meaning immediately.
No one could change Aaron's minds.
He is busy?
Just an excuse.
She had been ignored and left out by him in the past, but it was not as bad as today.
Yolanda felt sour and uncomfortable in her throat.
She was suddenly angry, bit her lips and turned around. In the last gap before the compartment door was closed, she saw that beautiful woman opened the lighter and put the fire in front of Aaron.
She then looked up gently to Yolanda who was rejected at the door.
This look was the same as hers when she looked at Wendy outside the restaurant.
Provocative, contemptuous, indifferent.
