Chapter 29

Aella stayed in the room, thinking about how Logan had managed to invade her train of thought. She determined within herself that she would not have anything to do with him again. She would reject him the moment she got the chance. What did she think? That Logan would look over several women in the pack and choose her? It was only the mating bond that made him so attracted to her. Beyond that, he didn't really see her as partner material.

The tears threatened to slip from her eyes again but she tried to keep it in check. It would not do to show any form for emotion now. The first chance she got, she would reject him, then find her way out of this hell of a pack. She didn't think she could stand anybody here anymore. She was done.

She walked to the couch by the window and sat there till her food was brought to her by the maid. She collected the tray and apologized for her outburst the other time. But the maid looked at her with a startled expression at her apology. The young girl was probably not used to people around here apologizing to her.

Her dinner was lamb chops with a side of greens. She hated lamb chops, as she wasn't comfortable with the fact that such an innocent animal has to die to feed others, but she forced the food down. She would not starve herself because her mate decided to be a bastard. She was much more than wasting away because of man.

She ate the food till all that was left was crumbs, then dropped the tray on the coffee table. She felt much better now that she had had something to eat. She took a quick shower and changed into another of Logan's shirts, then decided to finish reading her book.

But she couldn't concentrate for long. Her mind kept going to Logan and his mate, and she sighed as she realised that she could not stop thinking about him. She might as well get this over with. Perhaps if she met Logan's mistress she would feel better. It certainly was better than wasting away in the room while her mate was having the time of his life.

So, with that last thought Aella stood up from the bed and walked towards the door, opened it and walked out. She walked to the dining room and walked in. When she walked in, she saw Logan, Louve and Kylie on the table, eating. Kylie was laughing at something, but as Aella walked in, she stopped laughing and gave her a look full of contempt.

"Oh, it's you again." She said, rolling her eyes.

Aella did not even attempt to answer her. Her eyes immediately went to Logan's mistress and she gave the other woman aonce-overr. The woman had swarthy, smooth skin like Logan. Her eyes were a vivid green like his, and her hair was black as obsidian and long, flowing down her back in one smooth wave.

The woman stood up with a smile to greet her and she saw how tall she was, almost 6 feet if not more. Aella gaped as the woman stretched her hand forward in a handshake. She looked like a midget close to her.

"Hi." The mistress greeted with a smile. "I'm Louve."

"I know your name." Aella growled with venom in her voice and the smile melted from the woman's face.

"Um, I feel like we started off on the wrong foot here..." Louve trailed off and looked at Logan for an explanation.

"Logan, maybe we should leave the two of them to it, shouldn't we?" Kylie said, grabbing Logan's arm and batting her eyes. Aella felt a growl escape her lips involuntarily as Kylie attempted to flirt with her mate.

Logan looked at Aella with anger in his eyes. "What are you doing here?" He asked.

"What do you mean, what am I doing here?" She retorted. "Can't I go anywhere I like? You sure can't expect me to stay in the room you locked me up in."

Logan looked immediately flustered the moment she mentioned that. It was clear that he hadn't mentioned locking up his mate in the room to Louve.

"Tell them!" Aella yelled. "Tell them how you locked me up."

"You say it like it's my fault. Who here tried to run away from the pack?!" Logan yelled back.

"Logan, is something going on?" Louve turned to Logan. Kylie on the other hand had her arms folded, watching the exchange with an amused smirk.

"Nothing you need to know, Louve." Logan answered her without taking his eyes off Aella.

"Tell her. Don't you think your mistress needs to know the truth?"

"Mistress?!" Louve asked with disbelief but Aella did not wait for her to finish. She gave a last shout of frustration and stormed out of the dining room, severely regretting ever coming there.

Logan followed her out of the room, trying to catch up to her. She seemed to be angry about something he did not know about, as he had thought that they were on good terms. Truly he had walked out on her angrily some days ago after she turned his room upside down, but he had thought that they were clear now. He had forgiven her completely for that act and had even let her roam around the pack house again to show his forgiveness, so he was confused as to why she was making a scene again. He thought she would be over it by now.

"Hey, hey!" He called, reaching out to grab her hand. He turned her so she faced him. "Why are you so mad all of a sudden, Aella? I thought we were all good now."

"I owe you no explanation, Logan." She replied coldly, not meeting his eyes.

"So why did you do what you did in there?" He gestured to the dining room. She turned and continued walking without answering him as she was too embarrassed to admit that the sight of his mistress had upset her.

She got to Logan's room and tried to close the door in his face but he stuck his foot in the door frame to stop her.

"Go away, Logan. I don't want to see you right now." She said, her voice shaky with tears.

"Why? It's my room too!"

"Well, it stopped being your room the moment you stopped coming in here, Logan. You left me here, remember?"

"Oh, don't play the victim right now, Aella. If you hadn't completely scattered my room, I would not have left. So, it's totally your fault."

"Fine, have it your way!" She yelled and threw open the door dramatically. "It's your room, right? You can stay in here if you want. I'll go out."

He walked into the room and she tried to walk out on him but he held her back. "Aella. I didn't mean it like that." He called, his voice softened.

"I think you meant every word you said to me, every action too." She closed her eyes, trying to steady her breath. It would be wiser not to stare into those vivid green eyes and change her mind.

She was going to reject him as her mate.

"I..." She started but her voice was shaky, so she stopped. She swallowed hard, then started again. "I Aella, re..."

But before she could complete the statement, the door of their room flew open and Louve entered, cutting short her statement.
