Chapter 14

Aella's heart hammered in her chest as she saw the alpha. He was standing behind her with his hands in his pockets. Obviously, he must have seen her naked too. She quickly drew the blanket securely around herself and stood rooted to the spot. He walked closer to her, his eyes roaming her body, and his mouth lifted in a smirk.

She imagined living her hand and giving him a slap across the face, seeing the smirk melt into shock and pain. She was so full of rage that she imagined hitting him so hard that he felt the pain that she was feeling too. Oh, how she wished.

"Did you really think you could run away from me?" Logan asked. She backed away as he walked towards her, giving him all the hatred, she could muster from one stare.

Aella could not believe that all her efforts at running away had been wasted. She could not imagine that she would be dragged back to that prison of a pack by this man. She could feel all the hope in her heart shrivel up and die as she watched the smirk on Logan's face.

"It isn't as easy as you thought, white wolf." He said, "I've had eyes on you ever since you stepped into the boundaries of my pack." She noticed how he still called her "white wolf" instead of Aella, despite the fact that she had told him her name.

Suddenly a brilliant thought came to her. She looked up at the alpha with all the innocence she could gather and sighted in a convincing way. "I guess you're right." She murmured, blinking her eyes in what she hoped was an innocent expression. "I can't run away from you. Why did I even try anyway?"

She saw that her performance had had a positive impact on the alpha. His smirk changed into a less cruel smile and he relaxed a little "You shouldn't have attempted it. Do you know what's beyond this mountain? There are so many dangers out there. You're safer in my pack. Now, let's go back." He said, grabbing her arm.

"No, wait!" She stopped him. "Can I at least change into proper clothes? I cannot go back in this blanket." She spoke.

He looked down at her body that was barely covered by the blanket and she felt her face go red in a blush. "Of course. Yes, change your clothes." He said and took a few steps backward, then turned his back to her to give her some privacy.

Aella quickly rummaged in her bag for her other dress and slipped it on, then quietly slung the bag over her shoulder. She tiptoed backward until she was several yards away, her eyes on his back. Then she turned and ran down the other side of the mountain.

Logan turned backward slowly when he heard footsteps. His eyes widened when he saw what she was doing. "Aella! Come back here!" He yelled and took off after her.

She was whooping and laughing as she ran down the mountain. He found himself wondering if freedom really made someone as crazy as she was. She is extremely swift, hopping from precipice to precipice like a daring mountain lion. She was faster than any other wolf he'd met. But of course, she couldn't be faster than an alpha. Soon he caught up with her at the foot of the mountain and reached out to drag her back.

"What were you thinking, taking off like that?!" He yelled in her face "Now I know better than to trust you."

"Mm, well you won't be trusting me much if I'm not around, would you?" She retorted and turned around to go but he dragged her back to him again.

Her body hit his chest with so much force that would have knocked the wind out of any other man, but he was far stronger than her. They were both panting and staring into each other's eyes. Logan was very much aware of how each curve of her body molded into his own body perfectly, how her breasts pressed into his chest.

His groin hardened with desire and his thoughts began to wander, imagining how her body would feel under his hands. It would be soft, he knew. Soft and pliant. He saw in her eyes that their contact had affected her too. Her brown pupils had dilated and her heartbeat had increased too. He could feel her hard nipples and racing heartbeat through her thin gown and his own shirt.

"Let's go back." He said, his voice suddenly husky "Don't try to escape from me again."

"And what if I do?" She murmured, her eyes unblinking "You may be fast, alpha, but you cannot catch up with a wild wolf like me."

"Well, I just did, didn't I?" He whispered. "Whatever you think you can do is no match for my alpha strength."

"Oh, you know nothing, Alpha Logan." She whispered and smiled a very cunning smile. Before the alpha could think or react, she suddenly gave him a blow to the face and he groaned in pain, wondering where she learnt how to throw a punch. It was so much more painful than any punch he had ever received in his life. Wild wolves were indeed very strong.

Still, he did not let go of her hand. The smile melted from her face as she thought the pain of the punch would make him release her. She struggled and twisted against him but he held on. She let out an "aaargh!" of annoyance and started hitting him all over his face and chest with her other hand, tears of frustration building up in her eyes.

"Let me go!" She screamed but he held on.

"You'd better not resist me." Logan said admist the blows "It would be for your own good if you followed me without causing any more trouble."

"I would rather die." She spat "I would rather die than let you carry me back there."

"Why are you so adamant on running away?" He wondered. "My pack is the safest place for you to be."

"That's a bit presumptuous, alpha." She cut back, her eyes shining with unshed tears "Your pack members have been dying like flies, haven't they? I know the pack members that were buried some days ago were killed by another rogue attack. I know!" She lifted her hand to hit him again and he caught the other hand too, bringing them together and putting them behind her.

"It's still safer than out here in the wild." He replied, his brows furrowed in a frown "I will be there with you. Isn't that enough protection?"

"It is not!" She snapped "It will never be. I have lived in the wild for my whole life, so I am no stranger to it. Leave me alone, Logan. Leave me and let me fight you for my freedom."

"If you throw another punch at me–" Logan started to say but Aella did not listen to him. She dragged one of her hands away from his grip and slapped him so hard that he snarled in anger and hit her face. Gasping at the impact, she passed out, slipping to the ground and falling into Logan's arms, unconscious.
