Aella watched as her mate practically ran from the room and was mildly surprised at his reaction. She stood from the couch and walked over to the bed, sinking into it while thinking about everything that had just happened. He had almost flared up at her, she could sense it, but he had held himself back instead of doing what she had thought he would do. That was something she hadn't expected.
She had seen the way his knuckles whitened and the way his face went blank with rage. She had wanted to make him pay for locking her up and so she had tried to coax a reaction from him. it had worked up to a point but then she had seen him control his anger. It was almost impressive with the way he had done it; Other men would have either tried to take advantage of her or hit her into submission. What she did not know was that it took him a colossal amount of self-control to pull that off.
She sighed as she thought of how angry she had almost made him. He had much more self-control than she thought. She looked around at the mess she had created. It would take several painstaking hours to clean this up. She was almost starting to feel guilty about what she had done. She had been silly and petty and she was no different from a little child who threw tantrums when things didn't go her way.
Suddenly the door opened again and she stood up from the bed with such speed that she almost thought she would fall on her face. Maybe it was him coming back. She would apologize to him and try to make amends. But she was immensely disappointed as it turned out to be a maid and not her mate. She could feel her face fall with disappointment.
"Oh." Was all she said as the maid walked in.
"Good afternoon miss." The maid greeted her and took a look around. She saw the other girl's eyes widen with shock as she saw the mess that Aella had created. "What happened?" The maid whispered to herself.
"Oh, um..." Aella suddenly found herself short for words. Her cheeks heated up in embarrassment as she didn't know what to say to explain the disarray in the room. "There was a little... room malfunction." She stammered as the maid walked in. But the maid did not answer her. Instead, she walked in with her head bowed. She seemed to be avoiding Aella's eyes.
Aella scoffed at the maid's subtle rudeness. Blame Logan for all of this! The poor maid probably thought that she was sleeping with the alpha and was judging her for it, not knowing that their beloved alpha had locked her in here without her consent.
The maid started to clean the room, starting with the bed. She picked up the pillows and bed sheets that Aella had flung to the ground and began laying the bed. Aella went back to her perch on the couch and picked up her book, trying to continue her reading. But she couldn't continue with the book while the maid cleaned up her mess. The guilt was slowly eating her up.
After a few minutes, she threw the book down on the couch in frustration and stood up. "Here, I'll help you clean up." She said and began picking up the bottles of lotion and spray on the floor, but the maid didn't pay her any heed.
"So did the alpha call you here personally to clean up the room?" She asked the maid but the girl didn't answer her. She continued to arrange the Alpha's bed and avoided Aella's eyes.

"Didn't you hear my question?" Aella asked, slightly pissed. The maid stopped laying the bed and stood in front of Aella with her head bowed.
"Oh!" Aella exclaimed as she finally figured out why the maid was avoiding her questions. "Logan put you up to this, didn't he? He asked you not to answer my questions, right?"
The maid opened her mouth and shrugged nervously. "I'm only obeying the instructions of my leader, ma'am."
Aella cursed under her breath as anger blossomed in her chest and continued picking up the stuff on the floor. She could not believe that Logan would do such a petty thing just to get back at her.
Well, you also were petty when you turned his room into a garbage dump! Her wolf spoke up, rolling its eyes.
That's not the same thing! Aella answered in her head.
Oh, you know it is! Her wolf answered but she ignored it. It would be pointless arguing with her heady wolf.
She continued to pick up the stuff she had thrown around. When she finished with the bottles of spray and lotion, she arranged them on the vanity cupboard. Then she moved back to check her handiwork. As she moved back, she stepped on something that pierced the sole of her feet.
"Ow!" She cried out, then looked down to see what had almost injured her. It was a picture frame with sharp corners. She crouched down and picked it up, peering into the picture. It was an image of a happy family. A little smiling boy was standing between a man and a woman, who were equally beaming at the camera.
The little boy bore a very striking resemblance to a man who had been in this room mere minutes ago. She smiled as she realised that it was Logan. Same long jet-black hair, same cute nose, same scrunched-up eyes. His hair wasn't in the severe-looking ponytail he usually wore now. It flowed down his back like a wave of obsidian. His smile, which was very rare to see now, was very cute, revealing beautiful dimples and a few missing teeth. Aella thought if this was how he looked when he smiled, she would love to see more of it.
Her eyes roamed over to the man and she saw that he looked so much like his son, or the other way around, she thought. He had the same long hair, though not as long as his son's own. It only reached his shoulders, and it was more brown than black. His smile was less happy too. She realised that she had never seen him around. Perhaps he was dead, she thought.
Then her eyes traveled to the woman on Logan's left and she saw where Logan had gotten his cute dimples and jet-black hair. She was smiling as widely as her son, showing deep and beautiful dimples. Her eyes were scrunched up like her son's own, and one hand was draped over Logan's shoulder.
Aella's attention was drawn to that particular hand. She peered closely at it, seeing that there was something on the hand that tugged at her memory. Further examination showed that Logan's mother also bore the same crescent tattoo that Aella had on her left shoulder. Aella could not be sure though: the tattoo was only revealed halfway as Logan's father blocked the rest. Perhaps it was a mere coincidence. But it kept nagging at her mind.
Aella tossed the picture aside and continued cleaning. The tattoo could not mean anything–if it was even a tattoo anyway. With that last thought, she put off everything about the picture and Logan's mother out of her mind.
