They got to the front lawn of the pack house soon after Logan's revelation. They saw Louve from afar, waving enthusiastically from the doors that led to the foyer inside. Logan groaned and rolled his eyes.
"What?" Casper asked with a teasing lilt to his voice "Don't act that way around my mate, alpha, or I will be forced to attack you."
"You can't blame me. Your mate is nothing short of impulsively annoying. I'm not sure I can handle her drama today." Logan said and smiled.
Louve was still waving gaily and gesturing at them to come closer. Logan sighed and walked over with Casper closely behind him.
Logan gave his cousin a once over when they got within speaking distance. She looked absolutely good. She was putting on a light blue sweater that matched the colour of the sky and a pair of darker blue trousers. Her straight black hair was pulled up in two pigtails. Her face was bare of the light makeup that usually filmed her face. Her green eyes looked larger and more prominent. Logan thought she looked the way she used to look when they were teenagers.
He heard his beta sigh with rapture beside him and looked at him with raised eyebrows. So this was what love could do to a person, he thought. Casper was looking at his cousin as though she was the only woman in the world. Logan could not blame him. He had felt that way several times when he had seen Aella, but most especially when she had walked down the staircase during Casper and Louve's wedding, wearing only that sheer midnight blue dress that had driven him crazy with lust.
Logan looked over at his cousin and saw that she was also staring at her mate with inense need. Her large green eyes shine with love and soon enough, Logan began to wish that his and Aella's relationship was this pure and free of unnecessary drama.
Then Louve squealed with happiness and jumped on Casper, wrapping her arms around him in the tightest hug. Casper was not taken aback by the sudden hug though: it was as though he was used to things like these from his mate. He too wrapped his arms around her and buried his face in her shoulder.
Then they let go of each other and started to kiss passionately. Logan waited patiently, thinking the kiss woukd end but it didn't. They continued to lock lips and before the alpha could react to that, Casper began to grab at Louve's ass as they continued their kissing.
This public display of affection went on until Logan coughed deliberately and said: "Hey, you two. Get a room or something." He said jokingly. "You're both staring at each other like you would like nothing more than to fuck each other here by the front door."
Louve giggled apologetically as they separated and turned to her cousin, giving him a light punch on the chest. 'Oh please. Like you and Aella don't do even more gross lovey-dovey stuff. Who are you to point fingers?"
At the mention of Aella, Louve noticed how Logan's expression changed from happiness to sadness in the blink of an eye. The smile dropped from his face and he looked away. "Uh, sure we do." He muttered to himself, but Louve had heard.
She wondered what was going on between the two lovebirds. She had suspected something was wrong somewhere when she had asked Aella earlier today where Logan was and Aella had replied in a non-committal voice that she didn't know. She had then added that Logan was an adult who was capable of taking care of himself.

Louve had heard tales of Aella's stubbornness and heady spirit from Casper and Logan alike, but she hadn't had cause to worry about it, since Aella had been nothing but nice to her. So Aella's reaction to her question had made her worry that all was not well between the two. She had kept her thoughts to herself though: she did not want Aella or her cousin to think that she was intruding on their personal couple business.
"Speaking of which, where's your mate?" Louve asked. It was a trick question as she had wanted to see his reaction. And she was right. Logan's face which was smiling mere minutes before had closed up like impenetrable doors.
"I don't know. I guess she's around here somewhere." He muttered. Louve noticed that he also looked worried about something. "What's wrong, Logan? Did something happen that I should know about?
Logan sighed and rubbed hia eyes tiredly "Can we go inside? I have something I want to tell you anyway." He said, then led the way to the foyer of the pack house, which was empty save for two maids who were mopping the floor. They quickly stopped their work and bowed to the alpha, murmuring greetings. Once again, Logan was reminded of the patrol team and what they would say to the other memvers of the pack about Logan's outburst.
He led Casper and Louve to the Alpha's Library, where he was sure they would get the privacy they needed to talk in peace. He opened the door and led them inside. He sighed again as his eyes met the sorry state of the library. The whole room looked even worse in the daylight with books strewn everywhere and a plastic wrapper on the ground.
Louve shook her head "What did you do here, Logan? Did an avalanche hit this place or something?"
"Seriously." Casper added. "I don't remember this place looking so unkempt."
Logan walked over to the desk and rested on it, turning to face them. "Alright, enough gaping. This isn't the most terrible room you have ever seen." He waited until they had looked around enough, then started.
"I have already told Casper about this Louve, so it's you that should listen to me. There has been some updates about the recent happenings."
Louve looked from her cousin to Casper and back. "What updates?" She asked.
"So when we captured the rogue wolf, we found this tattoo on his shoulder. It's shaped as a crescent in a circle. That tattoo really stood out to me as I had never seen anything like it before. It was a simple tattoo, yet confusing." He paused, then continued again.
"Then one day when I went to my...to the former alpha's room, U saw a picture frame of my mother there. I could see her hand clearly, and on her hand was the same crescent tattoo." He took another pause and looked at Louve for her reaction.
Louve looked lost in thought. Logan could almost see the wheels turning in her head as she thought bard.
"So...that means that the rogue wolf and your mother are somehow connected?"
"Yes." Casper cut in. "We think they were both from the same pack. Most probably the rogue pack that is killing our pack members."
"Dios..." Love murmured, frowning. "I used to see that tattoo on Aunt Jessica's wrist when we were growing up. I remember asking her about it a few times but she told me that it was just a very special birthmark."
Logan nodded in comprehension. He had deliberately left out Aella's involvment in the whole tattoo business, as he knew the kind of attention it would draw to her. He did not want whispers following his mate wherever she went.
"Right now we need more security, because some wolf prints were discovered at the border by us today. Most probably another rogue wolf was sent to spy out the area, which means that we are slowly opening ourselves to an attack from them. We need more wolves on patrol duty." Logan said.
Louve chewed the corner of her lip in deep thought, then with a sigh of resignation, raised her head and looked at Logan in the eyes. "I volunteer to be part of the patrol team."
