Logan and Casper were about to leave when the man made that last statement. Logan paused, then turned back and crouched before the man again, his eyes narrowed dangerously.
"What did you just say again?" He whispered.
The rogue wolf laughed, a raspy laugh that sounded like several consecutive gasps being pulled out of him with a hook. "Well well. Look who's interested in information now."
"You are going to severely regret this if you don't talk now." Logan threatened, moving closer to the wolf and staring into his eyes.
The wolf inched forward on his bottom and stared back. "And I am repeating this. There is nothing you think you want to do to me that would be greater than what my own master would do if I betray him. Trust me, Alpha. There is nothing in this world that could be more torture for me. Compared to his, this place is like heaven for me. So, watch my mouth go zip."
Logan frowned with disbelief and broke eye contact with the man. He had never met a man so stubborn and defiant in his life. Someone who was willing to throw away his life because of his master. The alpha had utterly never seen such blind devotion before. Aella was a very close second, he thought. The devotion would have been admirable in other situations, but in this one where he was desperate for the wolf to confirm his findings, Logan wanted to grab the man by the neck and shake the information loose.
He looked back again and said with enough venom. "I am giving you this one last chance to redeem yourself, filthy wolf. I would not be so lenient next time."
The wolf stared back with equal venom. "I do not care!" He said back. "Death at your hands is more palatable than life at my master's hands after I betray him. I would not do that on my life."
Logan smiled sourly. "I did not expect you to." He said, then motioned to Casper. The beta nodded curtly and walked over to a nearby place where a couple of tangled wires were laid. The alpha watched as he fiddled with it for a while, then returned with one end of a wire, its end covered with rubber where the beta held it.
Logan looked behind his beta and saw that the other end of the wire was connected to a socket of pure electricity on the wall. He could almost see the thing crackle with energy. Casper brought the live wire and crouched beside his alpha, then smiled at the rogue wolf and passed the wire into his cage.
The rogue wolf watched with bated breath as the live wire was brought closer and closer to his skin. He widened his eyes as the wire made contact with the skin of his bare forearm, then relaxed a little when there was no immediate pain. Then gradually his screams started, building up from small and rising like a wave until the whole pack house resonated with his voice.
The man screamed like Logan had never heard a man scream before. The whole cage shook with the energy of his screams and his eyes rolled back up into his head. He opened his mouth and shrieked like a tortured baby, his fingers and toes curled up and his hair standing on end. Then Logan tapped Casper to stop and the man let go of the wire. The rogue wolf relaxed and his eyes came back to normal. His hair was on end like a man who had been struck by lightning.

Logan smiled as the man whimpered. Deep down he hated doing this to a fellow Lycan but the man and his people had caused too much grief and sorrow to his own people. His hatred for the rogue wolves superceded any hatred he felt at putting a man through torture.
"Please..." The man whispered.
"Are you ready to talk now?" Logan asked and waited for him to reply. The man took a whole three minutes to pull himself together. Then with a shaky breath, he moved closer to the alpha and stared into his eyes, uttering that one unwanted word.
"No."
Logan's smile dropped for a few seconds, but then it was back up again. "Well, then. Brace yourself." He said, then gestured to Casper to continue the partial electrocution.
Casper picked up the end of the wire and this time, he put it between the man's toes. The man struggled to remove his toes from Casper's grip but the beta was equally powerful. There was another few seconds of expectant silence as the bolt of pain traveled up to the man's skin, then he was screaming again.
This time his screams sent a few birds that were up in the trees flying away in fear. Logan saw a few windows open up in the pack house and some people peeking out and looking at the torture scene. He wondered what was on their minds. Did they think their alpha was just as heartless as the people who massacred them?
The man continued to scream and shake until the whole kennel was vibrating with energy from the electricity and the man's shaking. At a point Logan could not stand the screaming again and he motioned to Casper to stop it. Casper detached the live wire from the man's toes and the man went limp, falling to the ground and rocking back and forth like a baby.
Logan changed his position to look into the man's face. He was staring at nothing; just staring blankly with his pupils dilated. Logan was a bit scared that they had done irreparable damage to the man, until he pried open his lips and gasped for breath.
"The person you least expected will betray you. Our spy is in your midst." He croaked, then shuddered once and sank into a faint.
Logan stood up from his crouch with a groan, followed by Casper. "Well!" he exclaimed. "That's enough torturing for one man." Then he led the way away from the cages, followed closely by his beta.
When they got out they realised that a small number of people had gathered at the pack's lawn, watching the torture process. They looked terrified yet curious, and Logan felt another jolt in his heart as he contemplated the fact that they were terrified of him.
Perhaps they were wondering that their leader is just as wicked as their killers, he thought.
He quickly turned his eyes away from the sight of his people before he could feel any more regret at what he had done. He turned to a few guards who were lounging around the training ground. When they saw him they all arranged themselves and stood at attention.
He selected two of the guards and called them out. "Go to the cages where our prisoner is kept hostage and keep watch over him. You mustn't let him out of your sight for one second. Understood?"
"Unnderstood, Alpha." They said, then bowed and walked away from the training ground.
After he had given out instructions to the guards, he turned to walk back into the pack house. As they entered the foyer Casper spoke up. "Alpha, don't you think we need to figure out and conclude on what to do about the rogue wolf? It seems torture is no longer working on him."
"Well, I think the journal in our possession is information enough." Logan replied, sighing heavily. "But for now, I need some time to think of the next step to take."
