Lyne swallowed as she looked at Gabe who stood before her, looking all innocent. She bent in front of him and ran a hand through his light brown hair. He was cute and didn't deserve to be caught in the web of his mom's sins.
Zeidan stood close to the entrance, looking down at her as she did her thing.
"Gabe?"
"Mama." He cooed and she smiled curtly, straightening and getting ready to go into his head.
She closed her eyes and felt his body temperature which was comfortably warm. She felt his vein and artery ripple as they transport blood and her heartbeat began to sync with his. Her breathing changed and became heavy as she settled her thoughts on the atmosphere plus Gabe's head.
Lyne could see shapes before her eyes and slowly her hands began to feel more of his body. His blood rushed and she could hear the movement as clear as crystal. Except something interrupted her work. Her hands were burning and the shapes cleared from her vision.
Her brows furrowed not knowing what was going on. She pressed on, tightening her grip on Gabe's arm but she regretted it seconds later when something shot up her forehead and a big migraine started. She fluttered her eyes open and sucked in a sharp breath.
She looked into Gabe's eyes, shaking her head.
"What's going on?"
She heard Zeidan ask.
"Gabe. I think the only chance to go through his mind has been blocked. I don't know why but I think it has been..."
"Tampered with." Zeidan completed it for her, expression still the same as he walked in. "I'm sure Luana is responsible for that."
"So, what do we do?"
"Nothing. It's evident that Luana is still around and she had kidnapped Gabe."
"Do you think it's because of Dean?" She asked, looking back at the little boy who was now busy with his fingers.
"I don't know. But if anything, we might need Dean for a lot of work."
They walked back to the Palace, the council already on the seat. She took in their faces and she was certain she could remember them all. Not much has changed since she left.
"Your Highness."
They saluted.
"I have thought about a lot of things since our last meeting and I must say that it has not been easy getting back strongly on my feet. But with the help of Lyne, I'm trying." Zeidan said as he sat on his throne.
Lyne took her seat beside him, thoughts filled with how Luana was able to maneuver her way through the palace to Gabe's room and kidnap him. She also wondered why she chose not to carry Aurora along. There must be a lot to just fighting a war and taking sides. Even if Luana wanted to be with her child, there was no way Gabe will be returned.
"I think we need to invite Dean." She said aloud.
"What?"
"Who's Dean?"
"Why?"
They all murmured.
"Hudson was his brother. The one Luana murdered." She answered, looking at them.
"Oh, I am sorry about that." One of the men mentioned and she rose, walking to stand in front of them.
"It's not about being sorry now, it's about seeking justice for the oppressed. Hudson and Dean have been oppressed even when all they ever did was serve us. They protected the city with all their strength and wits, yet, the best reward they could receive from Luana was to get killed."
Lyne said, pacing the room, her heels clicking on the floor.

"I say we organize a search party to go look for Luana, my Queen." Another man with a husky voice spoke up.
She turned. "Search party?"
"The people refused to join the search party to look for Gabe because they were either afraid or angry. What makes you think they will look for Luana?" Zeidan chipped in.
"Because they will be happy that finally, they get to be involved in apprehending the ruthless bitch." The man said again.
"Speaking of ruthless bitch," a man she remembered was called Klaus said. "I hear of a flying woman in the temple. Some people who went there said she must have been there for many years now."
Lyne's heart thumped against her chest as she muttered under her breath. "Maya."
She held on to the head of her sword tightly as she thought of her. She deserves to die along with Luana but she wouldn't do her the honor of killing her gracefully. She would make her pay by letting her stay in the middle of the whole Vampires and be hung there. Yes. She wished she could do that now.
"Who are the people that went there? Didn't I say it was out of bounds for you all?" Zeidan said his voice firm.
"Yes, your Highness. But it seems to me like these people are trying to go against your every word."
Lyne looked up at Zeidan sharply. A rebel?
"Surely, they would and I wouldn't blame them." One of the men in blue robes said. He was really old. "I mean, the King has been locked in his room for how many months while a crazy psycho killed them all? He still went ahead to have a kid with her. So, preposterous."
"You can't talk to the King like that." Klaus hushed.
"Why? He's right." Another man in a blue robe said and it made her worry.
If all the men in the lawmaker council go against the King, it is finished. They are the ones who hold up the King's position and if they don't want the King, they would do anything to dethrone him.
"Silence!" Zeidan ordered and they all shuffled in their seats.
"I...no one shall say anything unless you're asked to. I have done everything I could and tried my best to make everything right but it seems as though I haven't lifted a finger. I was poisoned throughout those times and you think I wouldn't have arrested Luana if I knew what was going on?"
"That's the point, your Highness. You trusted that woman so much that you didn't even think about the welfare of the people."
"Allyson," he called at the white-haired man who just finished talking. "You of all people should know I place the welfare of my people above anything else. Luana was just a calculative snake who knew how to manipulate, lie and destroy. She pretended to care, got me drunk, got pregnant, poison me and do whatever she liked with the city."
He stood up and walked up to the men. His gaze was fixed on their faces.
"You of all people should know what Luana is capable of doing. She is not called the terror queen for no reason."
"But you can't let her continue to have a chance. I mean, she came in to kidnap a kid even after she was declared wanted." Allyson said.
"Luana has a way of going through things and the King and I have concluded that she may still have allies in the palace that are helping her out." Lyne supported Zeidan, stepping up beside him.
"We need to find a way to take them out first. And with this, we need someone important."
The people looked at her and murmured, but she had made up her mind. There was no way it wouldn't work. She has been able to kill many people without a trace and she hardly dies. She alone can help fish out the allies and she has just the right plan in mind.
