Chapter 160

Lyne looked at Luana, a smile curving her lips as she resolved to fight with all her might no matter how good she may be at magic. Or using the Onyx, but she sure is good with her claws. She stretched her fingers, eyes intent on Luana whose black eyes were also fixed on her. As they both snarled at each other, they also did the same with the charge and attack.

Lyne swooshed her claws at Luana's face which she moved slightly backward to avoid and in turn twirled on her heels and hit her stomach with her knee. She bent and held on to her stomach as she felt the sharpness but only for a while before she was back on her feet.

Luana threw a punch from the left to the right side which she dodged and grabbed her wrist, then right to the left and she grabbed the second wrist too, then holding both wrists captive, Lyne hit her forehead with hers, not minding the resounding bang she felt.

Luana cried out and she released her so she could nurse her bleeding forehead.

"You bastard!" Luana swore and came at her, stepping on some gathered sacks of hay and jumping on Lyne raising her arms to strike her with her claws but she was fast enough to move to the side.

As Luana landed, back to Lyne, she grabbed her hand and pinned it to her back, one arm wrapped around her neck.

"You know," Luana started to say despite her arms strangling her throat. "When I first saw you, I thought you were just as weak as you were proclaimed." She breathed raggedly with Lyne still holding on to her firmly. "Turns out, you were worse."

Before Lyne could process her words, a full-force blast pushed her stomach and she was lifted from the floor across the fields and hitting a strong wall. Her back burned from pain and her chest ached. She tried to raise her hand to hold something for support and stand up but her body had soaked up pain from the Onyx blast which Luana had used on her as her hands were behind her for the stones were in her hands.

Lyne coughed and tried to stand up but Luana snarled her teeth, grabbed her by the front of her jacket, carried her up, and threw her away so she hit her head on a metal pole that stood erect in the field. A clank was heard and sound ached into her eardrums and head.

"Arrrgh." She winced loudly and cried, holding on to her bleeding head.

She tried to stand but her wobbly legs failed her and she was back on the floor again. She coughed and spat out blood, eyes blurry. What was wrong with her? Why was she getting weak? Probably the effect of the Onyx.

"Ugh." She groaned as she struggled to stand, coughing and wheezing.

Luana came near, pulled her by the collar, and turned to face her only to throw a large painful punch on her face that sent her skidding over a cart of thorny grasses. She cried out of pain as she rolled over the sharp objects, their sharpness piercing through her skin and falling to the floor.

"Ahh."

"I will make sure I watch you suffer." Luana grabbed her hair from the rainwater which she had buried her face before as she fell, then pulled her to her feet again, slapped her across the face, and make her fall. "Just as you and Zeidan made me suffer."

Lyne cried hard as she crawled on the muddy floor, grabbing the mud and grasses with her claws and hands to move away from Luana. Unfortunately, the other woman grabbed her ankle, pulled her back, and kicked her abdomen. Lyne turned and growled in pain. She could no longer feel anything. Know anything except pain. Her body burned and ached with ache and pain and sorrow.

As she lay on the floor, her father's voice came again to her head.

"Please, Lyne, fight with all your powers and make m...me proud. I love you so much."

His dying voice, his closing eyes and his warm skin turning cold and rigid made her close her eyes. She focused only on her pain and everything else was as empty as darkness. She got acquainted with her pain and she let it seep through her body. She stopped fighting it and as slowly as the droplets of rain came on her body, so also did new blood arise inside her veins.

Images of her mother, Chloe, Tina, Brady, her father, Zeidan, and lastly her daughter flashed through her closed eyes and it was as if the wind that blew on her came together with strength. As she flung her eyes open, they were no longer red but a mixture of red and blue with stringing lighting of white. Her eyes looked like a ball of lightning or a cackle of electricity. She clenched her fist and dug them into the floor. The first one, the second one, slowly.

Lyne could hear the swooshing of blades behind her, and cries of men who get killed. She didn't see anything or hear anything anymore. But one thing was on her mind.

No. A voice said in her mind.

"Lyne," the echoed voice was soft but audible. "Get the Onyx and kill her."

She clenched her jaws and stretched her neck, giving it a cracked sound. Her claws were out, very sharp but they were unique and they looked like little swords. Her teeth were stronger and sharper.

Luana came towards her to grab her collar again but Lyne stretched a hand without looking back and her legs were stuck. She couldn't move.

"I see. You're getting stronger." Luana mocked.

Lyne rose and turned to face her contender. The only one she has business with on the battleground.

"Getting stronger," she replied, voice harsh. She raised her hand and Luana's legs were lifted off the ground floating in the air. As Lyne turned her hand, she skidded over to a wall, falling.

"And more powerful. Than you can ever comprehend."

Luana managed to rise and gathering the Onyx in her hand, faced Lyne. But Lyne huffed and clenched her fist, the Onyx left her hand and floated to Lyne. She grabbed and admired it before looking up at Luana.

"It doesn't belong to you." She then stretched her arm and a blue blast hit Luana, making her hit a wall that broke into pieces the moment she went into it.

The broken walls covered her up and everywhere was silent until Luana raised a hand and flew up amazingly. Lyne followed and they kept fighting everywhere until she grabbed Luana and tore her stomach with one of her claws.

Luana gave out a piercing cry, falling to her knees. She looked up at Lyne who moved closer and grabbed her hair to look into her face.

"Do it. Go ahead. I'm not afraid of death." Luana bluffed but Lyne smiled.

"Death, my dear friend, maybe too good for you, I'm afraid." She pulled her and made her rise before punching her face and making her fall into the muddy water.

Lyne turned to run a hand over her wet golden hair but as Luana stood up to go attack her, someone held her back. Lyne looked back and saw it was Zeidan. He had a knife around her neck.

"Surrender the Onyx, now!"

Lyne watched with their mouth open wide agape, her heart falling as she shook her head.

"Oh no."
