Zeidan ran a hand over her face. "I had no idea."
Lyne shook her head. "It wasn't you. I knew it was a Werecat but only after he said terrible things."
"What got you so fired up about this? Why were you running from me?" Zeidan asked.
Lyne froze, her eyes tearing up again and he pulled her in for an embrace, her face buried in his shirt.
"Tell me, honey."
Lyne began in muffled voices but he cooed her until she was stable enough to talk.
"I..." She began. "Look, they were all terrible things."
"So, you won't tell me?" Zeidan asked.
"I will."
"Then tell me."
"I wonder if you think the same way. But seeing how much it will hurt me, you wouldn't want to be truthful and tell me that's what you think."
He pulled both of his wife's hands and looked into her eyes, heart heavy. What the hell did that idiot tell her?
"What is it?" Zeidan asked. "I promise to be truthful. You keeping it in your mind won't solve anything."
"He said, I was just...he accused me of knowing about Wikh's escape and that Luana is innocent. He said, he had known Luana for a long time but just met me. He said lots of terrible things."
"And you think I've always had these in mind? Heck! Lyne."
"I don't...know." she frowned before looking into his eyes, pleading. "Please, don't hate me."
He pulled her in for a tight embrace, his heart shredding into pieces. How could he? He would never hate her. If he could get a hold of that Werecat, chopping him into pieces would have come easy for him. He was lucky. Next time he won't be. He thought as he ran his hand over Lyne's golden hair and comforted her.
"Come, let me explain something to you."
He helped her up.
Pale, trembling, she followed him to the bed and took a seat at the edge just beside him.
"Lyne." He pulled a strand of hair from her beautiful face.
"We've come a long way and you don't think I would have done a lot to get rid of you if I didn't love you?"
Lyne looked down, slowly getting stable.
Zeidan's heart lurched. He knew she was a strong woman and was ready to fight any war but could he risk it as Styx had done with his wife? Now, it's no longer a fight with swords, claws, powerful jaws, and teeth or magic. They're now playing with the minds of the people they want. However, one of the things that bothered him is the fact that the guy's face looked familiar but he couldn't make out where he had seen him.
After studying Lyne's saddened face for a while, he sighed.
"I made a decision. I will invite the royal council members and lawmakers. We will find every means to apprehend Luana. Whether she is an authority or not."
"Really?" Her face brightened slightly.
"Yes." Zeidan nodded. "I will make sure you win."
"No." She placed her soft slender hands on his, stopping him. "I don't want you to do this because you want me to win. I will be fine. Just do the right thing."
He was impressed. She wasn't selfish or self-centered. She wanted justice to reign and justice she shall get. For everyone that had been murdered. Thinking of Hudson who had been murdered, Zeidan was reminded of Styx's visit.
"Your Father came by."
Lyne didn't look any surprised and he wondered if she knew.
"What for?"
"Somehow he knew about Hudson's death."
She rose from the bed and turned away, arms folded against her chest.

"I hope to see that woman rot in jail. I hope to see her beg for life just as she made people beg. I will see to that."
Her voice was resolute and he knew she would do just that. He trusted her and he must leave everything in her hands.
"Lyne, whatever you do, please be careful."
"I will be." She replied, looking back at him.
★★★★★★★★★★
Lyne could see from the corner of her eyes, Zeidan standing from where he sat down from her. She ran her hands through her hair, trying to relax. He came up behind her with his arms around her, and he dropped a kiss on her head.
"You'll be fine." He muttered and she nodded.
"Uh-huh." She raised a shoulder in response, enjoying the warmth his embrace from behind gave her. Since the attack, Zeidan getting intimate with her had been rare. He barely had time for her and she had missed him dearly.
He rubbed her arms softly and she leaned into his chest, content. What more could she ask for than a man who would be there for her? Indeed, Zeidan is her knight in shining armor.
Minutes crept past and Lyne closed her eyes while his fingers soothed her tensed body.
"Lest I forget, I saw something," Lyne spoke up, suddenly remembering her newfound power.
Zeidan straightened and listened.
"What is it?" He asked.
"You never asked me why I passed out at the people's residence so I didn't bother to talk about it."
"I was busy. I'm sorry."
"For a split second, I thought you were gonna say you were furious. Beat me." Lyne chuckled.
"I was busy, Lyne. I'm sorry I haven't asked. What did you see?"
"I tried going into Brady's head and probably get out words he couldn't say." She turned so she could face him. "I wanted to know what he felt seeing his parents murdered by the people who were supposed to keep him safe. But I saw something instead of hearing."
"You always are seeing."
"No. Not this time. I was in the middle of the incident itself. I don't know how it happened. It was like I traveled right into his mind and was thrown in the middle. I can't explain it but then, Zeidan, I saw her murder his parents. I could feel what he felt and the pain and anger and fear." She flashed back to the vision and his scared face played back in her head.
"All waging war inside his mind. And the fact that he was silenced?"
"You are quite the type. What did Stevenson say about it?"
"In my last appointment, he told me it's normal to hallucinate." She huffed. "I guess, none of you have ever come across something like this."
"Because powers like that don't exist. Seeing someone's head or memory play out. Nice."
Zeidan replied and she could see the mockery in his eyes.
She rolled her eyes and wanted to leave his arms but he placed his strong hands on her waist and pulled her back between his arms.
"Hey. Don't get heated up, I was joking." They were intimately close and he was looking down at her, eyes dark and sensual. She was drunk in his gaze that she felt like she would melt beneath his eyes.
The way he looked at her made her toes curl.
"Zeidan."
He stopped her words with a kiss. Brief but sweet.
"Don't be stubborn." He slid his hands up her neck until he gathered her face in his hands. "Powers like that are bred when two clans meet together. You have my ability to hear and go through people's minds, and your power of seeing them clearly. It's our kid's powers, not yours. So enjoy it while it lasts."
Lyne could only open her mouth agape. She was shocked at this revelation. So, she wasn't going crazy after all.
