Chapter 124

Lyne had thought about what Marianne had told her. She had made her intentions known to Dan and Marianne the previous night that she would head to Vampire City. She truly needed to return as Marianne had said. Ever since she had come to stay with them, they have been very nice to her and her baby. Marianne was at the back clearing up the weed that had grown there. She was now packing her bags and baggage in readiness for her trip back to Vampire City. She will definitely miss Dan and Marianne.

Dan had Aurora on his neck and he played with her carrying her around the sitting room while she was packing up. Then the doorbell rang. Lyne opted to get it but Dan volunteered to open it.

Dan obstructed her view but she could hear their conversation.

“Hello Dan, It’s so nice to see you.” The visitor said.

“It is such a pleasant surprise,” Dan replied.

“Oh my God, is this your baby?”

    “No no, she’s not.”

“Is it just me or does this baby looks so much like Lyne and Zeidan mixed together?"

Dan laughed loudly and gestured for her to come in. Lyne could not help but laugh a little at the sudden burst of laughter Dan seemed to have. The lady stepped in and to her utmost surprise, she saw Gillian standing right there. Gillian herself could not believe her eyes and the two ladies screamed in excitement as they grabbed each other in a warm and long embrace.

Dan just watched the two ladies as they did their thing and he smiled in the process.

“I am so happy to see you, Lyne,” Gillian announced.

“Likewise Gill, I am so glad. I never thought I would get to see you again you know. Come on, sit down.” She said now ushering Gillian to sit and helping her settle her bag on the floor.

She could remember the last time she and Zeidan went to Palms. Zeidan had made Gillian the manager of the company just in case they both do not return after leaving for Vampire City. That was the last time she saw Gillian.

“Wow, she is your baby. I knew it. She looks so much like you Lyne." She said as she stood up to admire Aurora who was now in Dan’s arms.

“What is her name?” She asked Dan.

“Her name is Aurora. Cute isn’t it?”

“It is such a cute name for a cute baby girl like her.” She said in a baby tone and chuckled lightly. She then returned to sit beside Lyne who had been watching with so much delight.

“Honestly Lyne, I did not know you and Zeidan had a child already. I have waited ever since then to see one of you come back to the company. What has been keeping you people from coming?” She asked casting her gaze on Lyne.

“Slow down Gillian. Let me get you a glass of wine. Or would you rather have water?” She asked Gillian.

“I prefer wine.” She replied and Lyne stood up to get it leaving both Gillian and Dan with Aurora in the sitting room. She rushed to the yard to call Marianne. She found Marianne holding a garden fork gathering all the weeds she had stumped out of the ground together.

    “Marianne, guess who showed up.”

“Don’t tell me you haven’t finished packing and you want me to help you out.” Marianne taunted her as she didn’t want to fall into one of Lyne’s tricks.

“No Marianne, Gillian just showed up out of the blue.” She said with excitement.

“Wow, I’m coming right away. Let me get cleaned up.” She said

Lyne went to the kitchen and got the wine Gillian had requested with enough cups to go around for everyone. She returned to the sitting room where Gillian and Dan were having a hearty conversation already.

“Here you go,” Lyne said, handing both of them a cup each. She then filled their glasses with wine, including hers.

“Thank you,” Gillian said as she took her first sip.

“Where is your wife?” She asked Dan with question marks written all over her face.

“She is at the yard weeding.” She should be here any moment from now. She has been at it all morning.” Dan replied.

“I informed her of your arrival already. She wants to tidy the place and get herself cleaned up before coming inside because she was done with what she was doing.” Lyne explained.

Dan was rather much occupied with Aurora now that Lyne was not very sure he was paying attention to those in the room with him.

“So what were you saying, Gillian?” Lyne asked now with so much interest.

“Why haven’t you shown up in Palms to take over from me? How about Zeidan? At least, even if you are not chanced, Zeidan should have been able to come. You both decided not to come or what? And where is Zeidan? Isn’t he here with you?”

Lyne heaved a big sigh and her countenance fell a little bit much to the notice of Gillian.

“Are you alright?" She asked Lyne.

“Yeah, I am fine. And about Zeidan, he is not here with me in Los Angeles. I left him in Vampire City last two years. I have been here for over two years now and a few months and I was about to leave back for the City before you knocked on the door.” Lyne explained.

Just then, they heard Marianne walk in through the back door. Gillian stood up to hug her as soon as she came into the sitting room.

“It is good to see you again Gillian,” Marianne said and she sat beside her husband who was still engrossed with Aurora.

“So tell us, Gillian, what brings you here today?” Marianne asked as everyone listened with rapt attention including Dan.

“Zeidan and Lyne were both at Palms last year. Zeidan informed me of their intentions to go to Vampire City and he told me to handle the company well as the manager. He said I should carry on in his place just in case they both never returned. I have not set my eyes on any of them ever since then. I wanted to come here to ask for the whereabout of Zeidan. You both are the ones I know that can direct me to him and Vampire City, or perhaps he was not there, I know you will be able to direct me to wherever he is. I never knew I will see Lyne here.” She said now looking at Lyne and smiling in the process.

“How is the company, Gillian?” Lyne asked.

“You know you left it in good hands. Everything is going on well in the company Lyne. You have absolutely nothing to worry about.” Gillian said reassuringly.

Aurora was now asleep in Dan’s hand. She collected her from Dan and went to place her on the bed. Touching her forehead, she whispered,

"I'm going to do all of these for you baby. Going back there. Forgiving your Father for neglecting me. Everything will be done for you. I love you so much."
