Chapter 26

Pain shot through her head as she rose from the bed, her memories of the nightmare making her feel like she had just been poisoned.

"I need to take some food," Lyne muttered to herself especially as she remembered she hadn't taken lunch and dinner the day before.

After that heated conversation she had with Zeidan, she felt torn apart and all she needed was to just be alone. But was she really alone? She spent the rest of the day thinking about him. She rested her head on her palms and felt her head burning.

It was almost afternoon already as she checked the time. 11:56 am.

"Oh." She groaned and she concluded that she was feeling sick, with all the shouting, crying and emotional breakdown she has had. As she stood up, she felt dizzy.

What the hell was going on with her?

She decided to have a ginger tea at first while deciding what to have for breakfast or brunch.

Walking to the Kitchen, she met two young girls who looked like they were eighteen, in knee-length gown and apron around their waists. They wore their hair in an identical bun and were busy cleaning the kitchen.

"Hey." She called and with the wave of cooked steak that filled her nose, her appetite increased.

"I think I'm going to have a tater tot casserole for breakfast...or brunch."

The two girls turned at her and they both bowed slightly. She shot them a smile but regretted it immediately as the muscles on her forehead contracted and pain struck her head.

"Are you okay?" A tiny voice from one of them asked.

"Yes. I guess I'll have to take that ginger tea first and then Casseroles can come in later."

"Coming right up." They turned back to what they were doing and she walked slowly back to her room and lay on the bed, feeling weak.

Thinking about the dream she has just had, she wondered why Charles was still haunting her even in her sleep.

"What is he up to this time?" She said to herself.

Lyne has always fancied herself as one who wouldn't bother if she left her siblings especially since they have never been nice to her. However, her memories seem to have gotten more attached to her family than she had. But unlike before, she called out to Zeidan for help.

Strange. She thought. What has Zeidan got to do with Charles? Then she remembered her nightmare back when she was on her way to vampire city. She was terrified and wondered if she would be able to cope.

Zeidan.

Speaking of Zeidan, she wondered where has been. Obviously with his favorite, Luana. He didn't bother to look for her or come to their room to sleep. Closing her eyes, she gave out a frustrated sigh and sat up. This is going to be so hard.

"Yeah, I'll let you know when the files are ready...Of course, you can count on me." Zeidan spoke over the phone as he dealt with all his paperwork to assess what had been done so far from the time that he was gone.

The elevator bell chimed and he swirled his executive chair to know who was coming in while he dropped the telephone back to its place.

The door to the elevator parted and he couldn't miss the bleached wavy blonde woman with a round face, red lips, and exotic green eyes. She was wearing a pair of black pants, and a sleeveless white top, and her head were bent over some papers in her hands.

"Gillian?" He called and the startled lady flung the papers in her hands and clutched her chest with her hands.

"Zeidan?" She called, voice still shaky.

Gillian Smart, a very beautiful twenty-four years old woman with very beautiful characteristics. She had been his secretary for months and there was no doubt that this woman has a crush on him. She even admitted it once.

There was a moment of silence for a few seconds before Zeidan finally spoke.

"You okay?"

"Yeah." Gillian nodded, her eyes so wide like she had just seen a ghost. She licked her lips and slowly bent to pick up all the papers now spread on the floor.

"I'm really sorry about this mess. It's just...I was...I never really expected..." Closing her eyes for a brief moment, she sighed and stood up, trying to be composed.

"How have you been? I mean, where have you been?" As if counting her pace, she walked slowly towards Zeidan.

"You know, I just came here on a normal day to work and all I got to see was a knife through the window which cost me about a hundred dollars to fix, a scattered office, and a boss that magically disappeared and was nowhere to be found. He just disappeared, without a trace." He could see the tears lining her eyes and he wished there were other ways he would tell her to stop catching feelings and just focus on work.

"I went away for some really important business. It was sort of an emergency..."

"Emergency?!" She screamed as if worried and rushed to sit down on one of the chairs before his executive table.

"What happened to you? A...are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine." He sat up to continue his work but he asked Gillian to switch on the TV instead and go back to work.

Two minutes into the work, Zeidan dropped his own and his gaze slid to the eight inches smart tv in front of him and a headline caught his full attention.

His heart skipped a beat and the vein in his neck popped out. His forehead was throbbing hard and his eyes were changing into black. His two canine teeth sprung out like knives and he had one person in mind.

"Wikh!"
