Chapter 69

"Oh my god!" Lyne flung her eyes open and the huge mansion owned by her Father vanished in front of her. It was a dream. Or a vision in her case. She felt Zeidan's hand wrapped around hers and she was grateful she has someone like him. He will always be the best for her as a husband and as a father maybe.

Father. Her heart skipped a beat. She had never really given having children a thought but it just occurred to her now that Zeidan had never mentioned anything about having kids. Does he even want to have kids? What would it be like to have a kid for a Vampire? Will the baby be half vampire, half Wolf? Or fully Vampire? She placed a hand on her stomach and felt his eyes on her as he kept driving.

"Do you care to tell me what your dream was about?"

Lyne looked up at him and smiled, her mind wandered back to what seemed like a vision or something else, just too real to be called a dream.

"I don't know. But I was extremely angry at my sister and she mentioned something like having an affair with Azrael. And her friends called me a freak. I got so angry that I hurt her with my claws."

Zeidan slowed down the car as he looked at her, excited.

"That's it."

"That's what?" Lyne inquired.

"Your Wolf. It's controlled by your emotions."

"What do you mean?" She raised a brow. "My father went to war every time and he always told me that there were no emotions on the battleground. How then are his emotions tied to his wolf?"

"Well," Zeidan hesitated. "Maybe yours is different because you're half Wolf." There was silence between them and only the soft purring of the engine was heard as the car propelled forward.

They turned to a road that led to a wide bridge. Past the trees, and finally, they turned into a lone road with taller trees, and the shadows covered their cars. Zeidan sped past the meadows, mountains were disappearing behind through the side view mirror and they could feel the cool air coming from nearby streams through the window.

"Are you eager to see your family?" Zeidan asked in the middle of her enjoyable moment of silence where she could relive the memories of when she just met him.

"Hmmm." She thought. Could she really say she was eager to see them? Nervous should be the word. Or upset that she has to see them. " I don't know what to expect. Will they be eager to see me?"

From the corner of her eyes, she watched Zeidan turn his head to face her and he was smiling. Damn. If anything, this man was beautiful. He was wearing a black suit jacket over a white shirt which he left open at the neck, just the way she liked to see him. His hair fell over his forehead casually but exquisite. His hair stylist had done a good job with the hair. She didn't know when she smiled too.

"You'll do just fine, I believe." His voice warmed her stomach.

"You're right. I'll do fine because you will be there with me. I don't know what I'll be able to do without you."

"A lot. You're strong..."

"I found my Wolf when I met you." She cut in and he exhaled as she sounded intentional. She was trying to make him know that she was indeed aware of her words. "I found my feet, my courage, and my feelings."

"Well...maybe you're right. But we both found each other and made our worlds bigger and perfect. You knew my flaws but still went right into it."

"More like I was forced to."

Zeidan swallowed knowing very well that it was true. She had been forced to marry him.

"That's true."

"Yes, it is." She shifted so she could look at him as he focused on the road before him. "But," Lyne smiled. "I'm glad I was. Life with you is beautiful. Without you, I'd probably still be at home picking flowers, washing sheets for my brothers, cooking dinner, and watching people shift so I can get a peek at their nakedness."

Zeidan chuckled. "Little pervert you are."

She laughed heartily. "You do know how interesting it can be to watch your bullies shift in front of you, don't you? I mean, the strange poses they do and their faces," they both burst into laughter. "Oh my god, it is to die for. It's like they have a stomach upset."

"Man, your childhood must have been fun."

"Very fun. I mean, they're the ones who worry about going to war. I never worry."

Zeidan's face fell as if her words reminded him of something. "Yeah, you're lucky. I never got to have a lovely childhood."

"It's funny realizing I've never asked about your childhood." Lyne frowned as she thought about it.

"Unlike yours," he glanced at her, his head tilted to a side. "Mine was filled with boring activities like taking royal classes, eating whatever the royal diet specialist recommends, going to train, and reading more books."

"Oh," she sighed. "Your childhood..."

Zeidan looked into her eyes and pursed his lips waiting for what she was about to say next.

"Sucks." She blurted out and Zeidan was forced to laugh so hard he stepped on the breaks.

"My childhood sucks? Well, my adulthood was the complete opposite, Lyne."

"What's the point?" She laughed. "You didn't get to have all the fun while you were young and agile but now that you're aging, you're seeking the fun."

"Looks like you have forgotten I'm a Vampire." He started the engine again. "I can change my cells to return to whatever age I want. And although the years increase, as long as I take my tonic, my blood will always be fresh."

Lyne looked at him, her heart skipped as she heard him mention tonic. As she thought of it, she had never really seen any Vampire in the city talk about sucking blood to survive.

"Don't worry, we don't suck humans. Not since I got into power." He assured and she felt relieved a bit. Partly because he doesn't drink human blood and the other because he could read her thoughts and she didn't have to ask directly.

They saw her father's mansion in sight already and although she felt eager to see them as it has been three months since she left them, part of her told her to be prepared for the unknown. Expect the unexpected. Her palms were sweaty and she kept swallowing. As they got to the park, she could see a large number of people gathered in the garden. She grabbed Zeidan's right-hand wrist and checked for the time.

"What are you doing?"

"Four o'clock. In two hours' time, they will all shift. What should I do? How will I cope? This is...I don't think..." She pressed two fingers on each side of her forehead as she panicked. Zeidan just kept watching her. "What if they ask about my wolf or worse call me a freak? Yes, just like my dream. They always come true."

"You had that dream because you were perplexed and your mind was filled with what would happen when you get here," Zeidan replied before parking the car properly, stepping down, and went to the other side to open the door for her.

"My Queen, welcome back to," she placed a shaky hand in his as she stepped down too. "Wolf pack."

"Aww." She cooed, placing a hand on her chest to feign being delighted.

"Remember," Zeidan looked into her eyes, his hands slid around her waist. "I'm always here for you. If you get too uncomfortable, just let me know and I'll get you out of this place as soon as possible."

She nodded and he placed a light kiss on her upper lips, making her curve her lips into a smile.
