Chapter 62

A knock came once on the door, and then twice before the door opened and a beautiful woman in flower printed silky dress showed up at the entrance. She had on a pair of eyeglasses that concealed her almost tiny eyes pretty well.

"Hi there, Marianne." Zeidan greeted and took her hands to kiss them.

"Welcome, Zeidan. It is an honor to welcome you here in our humble home." Her hair was white, looking almost as soft as wool which she plaited into a french row, adorning it with a rose flower perched on the side of her hair.

"I can't believe all this while, you would still see the need to come to visit us until you called for us to prepare for dinner with you..." Her eyes glanced behind him towards a beautiful blonde-haired woman dressed in a gorgeous red jumpsuit, and black shoes, and the top part of the suit was strapless and armless. "And your wife. Oh my god, she is beautiful, Zeidan."

As Lyne walked up to the entrance with a bottle of wine in her hands, Marianne wrapped her arms around her shoulders in greetings.

"I'm quite pleased to meet you, Marianne. Zeidan has said a lot about you and your family." Lyne greeted, her smile very contagious, Zeidan thought as he watched the two women exchange pleasantries.

"I'm Lyne."

"Oh, beautiful name for a beautiful woman. Finally, you stole his wandering heart." Zeidan rolled his eyes at the comment and Marianne chuckled.

"Do come in, you two." They followed her inside the house and Lyne could only conclude that the designs she had seen at Dan's office were small compared to the ones inside the house. Almost everywhere was made of glass and she wondered if their wealth was gotten from simply selling drugs alone.

From the expensive huge paintings that hung on the walls to the aquarium full of dishes and the golden-looking furniture. They walked through the hallway to the living room where there were sofas and TVs and a shelf full of books in the room. As they got closer, a tantalizing smell wafted through her nostrils and she smiled at how homey it smelled.

So, Marianne had been cooking.

"Oh, Zeidan and Lyne, welcome to our home." She heard a familiar masculine voice and when she turned, it was Dan dressed casually in a cotton t-shirt and a pair of jeans.

"Dan, it's so good to see you again." The men shook hands and he didn't hesitate to embrace her, which she found intriguing.

Moments later, a knock sounded on the door again and when Marianne would answer it, it was Gillian dressed in a purple gown, and her hair was worn down in a wavy form. She looked beautiful with the makeup patting her face.

"Hi, guys." She greeted, and a nervous smile played on her lips.

"Sorry, Dan. I just thought Gillian might be useful for our plans as well since she had been involved in the first place."

Zeidan tried explaining, his hands dug into his pockets.

"It's okay. That makes everyone even. What I mean is, my brother-in-law dropped by yesterday, he might be the perfect match..." He lowered his voice and leaned into Zeidan's side. "For her."

The two men laughed as they all walked to the dining table, Marianne was bringing out the food already and spreading them over the table. There were jokes being cracked and everyone was happy. Lyne kept having this feeling inside of her and the same rotten smell she smelled when she was with Zeidan by the stream. But how was that possible? The Werecats couldn't have followed them here. Or have they?

She gripped her fork tighter.

Her heart beat fast and she was sweating furiously. Her claws were sprouting and she tried taking a deep breath to calm her nerves. Marianne and Dan kept laughing and their voices were piercing her eardrums. She kept clenching the fork and unclenching it.

What was going on with her?

"I was thinking of something." Zeidan's voice came up and she was snapped back to reality.

"If Mysteria were to come back, what will it be for?"

"To ensure you never go back to the pharmacist or find out about the pill bottle," Dan replied and Lyne decided to focus on what they were saying, although their voices sounded distant.

"That's it. We make sure..." She heard footsteps approaching and as they did, she could hear them clearly. Strange. There were many aspects of her powers she hasn't even known yet. But the smell still lingered heavily in the air. The smell of danger. Looking to her side, she could see a man walking down the stairs majestically. He was wearing the same cotton t-shirt as Dan. What's with the annoying shirts? His hair was sleek and dark and he had very dark eyes. Tanned skin and when he turned his head slightly, she could see his dimple as he smiled.

The smell wafted stronger still. What does it mean? Who could be the danger? Well, maybe she would find out later. But for now, enjoying the night will be good. However, her Wolf wasn't having any of it. She wanted out.

"Calm down, Lyne. Take a deep breath." She whispered to herself as she folded her hands on her laps, maintaining a comported smile but her eyes were itchy and a new form of energy was coursing through her vein.

"Oh no, no, no, no, not yet."

"Hi, my name is..."

But it wasn't the golden-haired girl that shook his hand. It was a huge white Wolf that pounced on him, gritting her teeth and pinning him to the ground. Dan was shocked and sat on the floor trying her best to get away from them.

Gillian had also hidden under the table. But Marianne just sat down there, with her utensils in her hands and a napkin placed on her lap. Zeidan walked up to Lyne and tried calming her.

"Hey, sweetheart..."

He was met with a growl and he knew that Lyne still has slight problems with accepting her Wolf which is why she couldn't tame it just yet.

"Hey, Lyne." He corrected. "I don't know why you're doing this or what you must have found out but this isn't the way to let us all know. We need to do things orderly. By first, giving this gentleman a breathing space."

He kept rubbing her back to soothe her while Dan was across the room and yelled about how everything was crazy and how he must be dreaming.

Lyne shook her furry body and released him, her red eyes pinned on the man rising before her.

"Hello, Wolf." He smiled, flashing his dimple and Lyne must confess that he was cute. "I...am Roderigo. Pleased to meet you, people."
