Chapter 40

"Zeidan !!!" Lyne screamed as she saw that he had been stabbed. He had survived a deadly bite. How could he not survive a sword wound? She looked up at who had stabbed him and she saw the ninja again.

The place where she had stabbed her was still visible and her cloak was soaked in blood. Her eyes were puffed and red as she looked at Zeidan on the floor, obviously unconscious or maybe dead.

Her heart did a triple summersault at the thought. What would become of her?

"How interesting?" The voice behind the cloak said as she moved towards her. She dragged herself backward, not knowing what would befall her. However, she wished so much that she died as well as Zeidan was dead. What would life mean to her without him?

"He is most vulnerable around you. I realized that, so I couldn't die without making sure that I take him along."

"Take him along? What do you mean?" She asked, voice shaking.

"He deserved to die, just like you do too."

"I didn't do anything to you. I freed you from your prison." Lyne countered with the courage she could muster.

She saw her tilt her head slightly before crouching.

"My prison?" She laughed.

"I have lived in the coffin for two thousand years. What difference would twenty years in a room make? I have always waited for you and the moment you stepped into this temple, I knew you were the one."

"Uh!" At this point, she was utterly confused.

"Me? What do you mean? I don't even know you."

"Tara, don't fool me."

Lyne gasped as she heard her mother's name. How did she know her?

"How didn't you die? I thought I heard them announce your death."

That was when it dawned on her. This woman had killed her mother. She felt the heat of fury rise from the bottom of her stomach and her veins popping out of her forehead as she felt like strangling this evil ninja.

"You killed her."

"I threw a spear into your heart, Tara! How did you not die?!" The ninja yelled and clutched her chest before falling to her knees. The wound was working already.

"I heard...the vampires refused to help you. I always made sure anyone who tried to come out was killed. They refused to help you and I know and I watched you die in your husband's arms!" She kept screaming until those visible eyes turned dark and her hands looked like they withered immediately.

She knew she was dead. But what about the number of questions she had? They have no answer. She glanced at Zeidan's body from afar and as the rain fell, she knew it was over. She had killed him.

"I will not give in to your threat. I should have known you were a traitor and a bastard the moment I was arrested." Wikh said, his blistered face looking up at the tall woman before him dressed in a brown jacket, black gloves, and leather pants plus boot heels.

"Trying to play it the hard way?" She crouched before him, her face displaying mockery and confidence.

"Look me in the face, woman." He stated firmly.

"Whatever you stand to gain in this will always result in destruction, mark my words. Even if I was led to the exception room, I will seal my lips. So, save your energy, dear, and go live your life before I reveal your damned ass to his royal highness. The moment he brought you in, I knew he made a very big mistake."

"Taking revenge isn't a mistake. Forgiving is."

Wikh laughed shortly and sucked in his breath.

"I hope you know that one who is set out for revenge will always dig two graves. One for your victim, the other for you."

She frowned at his words and grabbed his chin, ignoring his pained whimpering.

"You don't talk to me like that, you old wimp. I own you and there's nothing you can do about it. I can save you out of this prison if you want. Even without Lyne."

They looked into each other's eyes for a while before his outburst shocked her.

"Screw you." She dropped his chin, visibly shocked at his defiance but she mustn't stop here. She would ensure that she change his mind before everything goes downhill. She walked out of his cell and bumped into someone.

"Luana!" She greeted as she chuckled uncomfortably.

"Hey, what're you doing here?" Luana asked, glancing behind her.

"Oh...yeah, I just... I was with Wikh."

"Doing what?" She noticed Luana's face was puffed and red from crying. She decided to distract her.

"Lyne went to the temple."

She looked at her expressionless as she wondered what the information had to do with her.

"And?"

"She's there with Zeidan."

Her plan worked as her face immediately held a shocked and questioning expression.

"What are they doing there?"

"I don't know." She answered quickly. "But I just know that they're both not on good terms and Lyne seemed to have a plan against him."

"A plan?" Luana didn't wait before running to the stable and she made sure to run after her. When she had mounted a black stallion, she turned back at her.

"I hope you're saying the truth," she scoffed. "Chloe."

Kicking the horse on the side, she sped off while Chloe watched her exit, an evil smile playing on her lips.
