Chapter 30

The hall was filled with murmurs and gasps as to why a woman was let in the courthouse unless she was a Queen or a witness or the accused.

"Your highness, she shouldn't be here." One of the lawmakers in blue robe called out, his face crumpled in disgust.

"I thought you were poisoned," Wikh asked, his eyes wide.

Lyne licked her lips and nodded her head.

"Yes, I was." Further exclamations.

"But I ran here as soon as I heard you were going to be prosecuted. I just needed to buy you some time." Her eyes were now laced with tears, especially after seeing the old man's face torn and covered in blisters. She touched it gently and tears rolled down her eyes as she had thought of Wikh as her father.

She sniffled and turned to Zeidan who just stared at her, obviously confused.

"Is this how you're going to rule your subjects to victory?" She asked him while walking toward him.

"Is this how your pass your judgements? You let your emotions get the best of you?"

"Lyne, I'm following the rules. You know nothing about the rules." His face held no expression and it broke her heart.

She opened her mouth to talk but no words came out.

"I... You just... You and Luana."

"Lyne, you clearly don't understand..."

"Well, we are saying the same thing. We both want to know who has been to the Onyx room and has been snitching on us. We want the same thing." She placed her hands on his chest, eyes hopeful.

"You know how much I ..." She kept quiet and for a second she could see his eyes look interested.

"I..." She looked into his brown eyes and she was sure he had this affection for her if only she could be so sure.

"Lyne?" He whispered and like magic, the pounding in his heart stopped and his face looked like a kid that would soon burst into tears.

"I lost a friend." He looked away, trying hard not to cry.

"What? I'm so sorry about that. You should probably suspend this hearing till you feel stable..."

"Did you even hear me?!" He yelled so loud, Lyne was forced to flinch, her heart almost in her mouth.

"This man!" He pointed at Wikh. "This old fool you are trying to defend tried to kill me, he also murdered my friend while I was investigating."

"Investigating what..."

"Oh, you don't know? Well, how could you? You were busy trying to prove a guilty man innocent. Now, who's letting emotions get in the way?"

"You know quite well that I'm not letting my emotions..." She started to say but stopped as she was growing upset already.

"I thought you had a conscience. I was wrong. This man, Wikh, has worked for you for a long time and this is how you repay him?"

"Unless he can prove that he isn't on medication and he didn't keep his sickness away from my father, this conversation is over."

"You have to go by the rules, ma'am." Another member of the lawmakers said and she looked at them, her face determined.

"Yeah, right. Rules that don't care if one is innocent or guilty. I get it. I thought the Wolf clan was bad at making rules. Turns out, vampires are worse."

"If you want him vindicated, meet me in court, with evidence of course, that he's innocent." With this, Zeidan walked away, while the other council members and lawmakers also dispersed.

The guards moved to take Wikh away but she asked for some time.

"Please give us a minute." The guards stepped back a bit, she looked at Wikh and tore her dress to clean the blood on his face but he held her hand.

"It's no use, Lyne. I'm guilty as charged."

Shock spread through her vein as she heard this and she shot Wikh a stunned gaze.

Charles turned over to lay on the bed after he was done with his woman, satisfied. He moaned in delight and smiled at the beautiful woman beside him.

"What a pleasant night." He commented as he lay on his side on the bed covered in white sheets, his fingers trailed down her clean-cut face and stared at her deep blue eyes.

"Yes, it was pleasant." She smiled.

"Hey, Dorathy, how would you feel if you were made Queen in my kingdom?"

"Let's make you the Alpha first. That's the most important thing."

"I just can't wait. It's going to be a dream come true." She smiled and patted his cheeks before slipping out of the bed, her naked slim body wiggling its way to the bathroom in the hotel.

"I'm just going to freshen up." She called behind her.

He had met Dorathy a few months ago when he was depressed and wanted his Father's throne so bad. He had gone to a bar to drink and got into a bar fight where he was severely beaten almost to death, thanks to her angel in a ninja form.

"Next time, learn to know your limits when fighting." She had told him that night but as the lights illuminated her face, he was lost. Her jaws gave her a bold look and her red lips complimented her beautiful face.

She had short hair and her blue eyes were what fascinated him at first glance. They became close and she told him she was a princess somewhere in a small town in Britain and was entitled to her father's throne but her siblings won't let her because they felt she wasn't worthy.

He believed her and thought they had good chemistry as he also wanted his Father's throne but he has never been treated as the Crown Prince. His father would always mention Lyne and that annoyed him very much. Now that Lyne is married, there is every possibility the throne will be passed to her.

"I am not going to let that happen..."

Before he could finish a sentence, a long sharp sword glided past his face and he barely escaped as he dodged and held the hand that had the sword. The person had a feminine figure and wore a mask and a black cloak and a hat.

The second hand came for him which he kicked with his legs, causing her to fall to the edge of the bed. He grabbed her cloak behind her so he put his arm around her neck, his fangs out.

He could feel her vein pulsing and her heart beating fast.

He wondered within him where Dorathy was as he kept holding the masked lady. Soon, he was over her and he tore open her mask, and he was shocked at who he saw.

"Dorathy?" He asked.

"Hey." She smiled and her warm voice seeped into his ears.

"Remember I said I was gonna train you. I wanted to teach you how to be vigilant and voila! There you are."

He felt eased a little bit as he laughed and fell back to the bed.

"Yeah. He concluded.

"Learn how to be vigilant."
