Chapter 53

As soon as they both stepped out of the store, Lyne sat on the steps in front of the building, looking tired. He looked up at the changed name of the store. Dan pharmacy store. It sounded uninteresting but that shouldn't be his concern now. Which vampire female could be responsible for the death of Samantha?

When he had fought with that fast cloaked figure that night, he was fully convinced that it was Wikh that he didn't bother knowing who it was. Now he wished he had stopped to think. But then the figure was faster. He should have known Wikh could never be that fast. But now they have a lead. Finding a female vampire who must have been plotting against him and known about his trip to visit Sam. But first, he needed to clear his head, with the only important person in his life.

"Dan thinks he's funny." Lyne glanced up at him and she knew since they had both met that Lyne already hated him. True, Dan could be overconfident but he was a big softie disguised as a baddie.

"He is nice though, don't you think?" He looked at her as she smirked. The sun hit her beautiful face and he was feeling his heart inside of him urging him to touch this woman again. Damn, he needed to learn how to stay a day without her in his mind, body, and soul but that was impossible. It's like she had been programmed to be his half. Maybe spending the rest of the day showing her places in the city would be better.

"What do you say we go to my company?" He inquired, his hand spread out before her.

"I'm tired." She whined.

"I didn't mention trekking." She looked up at him for a while and a mischievous smile played on his lips.

"I didn't mention trekking without ice cream." Zeidan laughed and spread his arms as the walked on the sidelines of the road. She was lagging and she felt like kicking this handsome man who had promised to buy her ice cream if she agreed to trek. Now she seemed to regret it.

She bent and tried to catch her breath as she watched Zeidan dance victoriously in front of her. She laughed.

"You're a man, Zeidan. It's normal that you have twice my energy." She yelled at him.

"You forget I am without my powers and you have yours," Zeidan yelled back.

"I didn't know Wolf powers now have speed added to their list of super abilities." Lyne spat and sat on the short grass that was meant to be a park by the roadside. She felt exhausted and not minding his status, Zeidan joined her, taking off his jacket.

"How about I buy you more ice creams and we continue the journey?"

"Sounds interesting and I'm salivating right now to have a bite of that but I'll only agree if you can piggyback me." She smiled sweetly at him. "Please."

"No. What the hell?" Zeidan laughed and patted her shoulder. "This was supposed to be a competition so there's no way I'm helping you by carrying you." He rose to his feet. "See you at the end of this road."

With that he jogged away, his sweaty arms glistening under the afternoon sun.

"Why would a man just decide to trek when he has a car? It's interesting though." Lyne mused to herself and she rose, jogging behind him as well.

"Wait for me."

"Where did you say he went to again?" Luana asked the small-looking maid in front of her.

"He mentioned going to Los Angeles for a vacation. He didn't talk about a representative so..."

"He didn't put Lyne in charge?" She smiled hopefully and her smile turned into a breathless gasp of joy when the maid shook her head.

"No, he didn't."

"For how long will he stay away?"

"Flora told me he mentioned two weeks. I'm guessing they went for vacation."

"That's good. You may go." She clutched her chest as she wondered if Zeidan had left the city and left it in her hands. Or had he missed her these three days that he finally realized that she was the perfect woman to make the Queen? She smiled to herself. This was it. What she wanted. Thank goodness she hadn't given in to Chloe's proposal for her to join Shelbrooke.

Now, she has just gotten an idea. It would be very good if she could crack the puzzle easily for Zeidan concerning Wikh's disappearance and prove it.

"That was a bad decision, Luana." She heard the warm voice behind her and she felt like putting a spear right through her chest. She turned to face her.

"I already made my decision and there is no going back. Infact, there will only be moving forward."

"Moving forward? How?" Chloe asked.

"I will make sure I stand there where you are being executed and I'll listen to you plead for life but you won't get any."

She wondered if it was her or if Chloe flinched a bit.

"I don't understand. Zeidan just broke your heart and you're fighting for him?"

"He didn't break my heart. We were only having a misunderstanding. Couples misunderstanding."

"We've been over this, Luana. Zeidan is in love with someone else and no matter how hard you try, you can never get him to unlove her."

"You think?" She raised a brow at Chloe who clenched and unclenched her fist. "Oh, I wonder what is it you have for Lyne. You're not even related."

"Killing you won't be a problem to me at all, Luana but I want you to cross my path first. That's what I do. Eliminate people who refuse to do things my way." Chloe threatened, her green eyes darkening like the leaves.

"You'd better stand in your lane, Chloe. I do the same." In the middle of the large palace, the two tall ladies stood facing each other. Their faces were determined.

"Let's see where your wit will get you. I hope it leads you to your grave." With that, Chloe walked away in her armor and Luana exhaled audibly. She would make sure Zeidan knew about her escapades and she knows for sure that Chloe had framed Wikh so he could be punished for her sins. The innocent man paid for her evil doing. Although she hadn't been on good terms with Wikh, killing him was by far the most extreme way of teaching him a lesson.

She would wait until Zeidan comes back. Maybe then, he'll see her as worthy of being Queen.
